JK Rowling handled a similar situation to this quite well: http://nypost.com/2015/07/12/j-k-rowling-perfectly-slams-serena-williams-body-shamer/

Think Thin has a few varieties of protein bars that aren't chocolate or PB centric, they have no sugar (which is good), but took me a few tries to like them. Now I get them all the time!

I'm 5'9" These were taken before & after my initial weight loss, SW was in the 170's, maybe as high as 180. These mostly show the difference in my face. More before & after, these were once I got into lifting about a year and a half after the initial weight loss. Same time period for the before pics. Most recent pic (Dec.…

Same! I always notice a big upswing in January at the gym but as some others said, it's already dying down. The frigid temps helped move that along I think.

Totally love this! I love new music too, both sharing and discovering through others. Subscribed! You're already starting out great with some SMD, I'm a big fan.

Way to go!!

This. This. This!

WOW way to go!!

I mix it in with Annie's White Shells & Cheddar (macaroni). If you add a whole head, it seems like you're eating way more of the macaroni than you are, yet it's mostly cauliflower. A trick I like to play on myself ;)

Holy crap, you all look so so SO good. Way to go! It's amazing how much younger everyone looks in their after pics too. Like magic o.O

I agree and second the others. Also be sure to be tracking your measurements because sometimes weight increase is muscle and not just fat. The scale shouldn't be your end all be all in terms of whether you're on track or not. I know that's a hard one to accept. Don't give up, keep fighting!!

"Having bad knees" as an excuse to not do squats and lunges is a HUGE misconception many people have. Look into it. These exercises can be some of the best as far as strengthening and improving your knees!

Glad someone posted this! Two thumbs up!

Hereeee! And what everyone else said. New Rules of Lifting for Women is a good starting place, as is Strong Lifts 5x5.

Bump :) Great tips guys!

WTG, all of you!! Looking really great

Posted some pics on this discussion board (post initial weight loss, and then more that are from after I started lifting heavy) I am 5'9" http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1301973/5-foot-9-ladies

WTG!! You rule!

I weigh every 5+ weeks to not get too obsessed. I measure more often, maybe every few weeks, especially if I'm feeling concerned. It's a good headcheck - and as someone who lifts, I feel it's more accurate of if I'm doing good or bad because weight increase is most likely muscle if my measurements are the same.
-
I second this. New Rules of Lifting for Women helped me get acquainted (although I didn't follow the program in the book, just used it to get informed). Good luck!

Thissss. Way to go! Love your story. And this! Haha awesome. All of these stories I relate to. Mine was going to the doctor and weighing in at more than I ever had. It was like "Woahhhh that's not me" and yet it was me. And if I'm remembering correctly, I believe my cholesterol was on the high side for someone my age,…

Likewise! :drinker:

Haha awesome. I love it when that happens.

Not what I was trying to say...I'll try to clarify once more. Everyone can wear workout clothes, it's a free country. I am saying that I assume (my opinion, not a fact) the people I'm referring to think they look like they work out by wearing workout clothes. As you just stated, you yourself don't wear them to appear like…
-
You do make some great points - everyone is entitled to wear what they want. I'm not down with body shaming either. My complaint is that it's "trendy" to wear workout clothes because being fit/working out itself is trendy. It does bother me when I see people at the mall decked out in head to toe Lululemon when clearly they…

Ha, well played. I think a better comparison would be if people started wearing full cop uniforms...
