  • They had a groupon for a place near me, $25 for 10 classes, can't go wrong with that! I've gone twice so far with a couple friends, it's a lot of fun! And I definitely sweat a ton and felt sore the next day
  • That's a little harsh, I think. My old roommate from college tried MFP for six months and it did nothing to help her, but in the last year she's lost 60+ lbs on weight watchers. It might not work for you, but it works for others, and if it promotes healthier lifestyles, who are you to poopoo it? To each their own
  • I've eaten....307 calories of fruits and veggies so far today. So yep, I absolutely log 'em
  • ^^ this was true for me as well. I went from 1350 to 1650 when I started running regularly, and I eat most or all of my exercise calories back. Still losing weight.
  • I've been running about a year now, 2-3 times a week (so still recreational) and depending on the distance, I run between 10-12 minute miles. If I'm running a 5k race or something it'll be closer to 10
  • Do it!! I've done two already and have two more coming up - it's addicting! So much fun
  • That's so awesome! Comments like that are the absolute best!
  • What a cool idea! How are they verifying results? (or are they?)

  • I bring all manner of fruits and veggies to work. Today I had with me an apple, orange, strawberries, green pepper and cucumber. I also keep little 35cal yogurts in the fridge, and organic oatmeal in my drawer, just in case. Plus lunch :) I pretty much constantly have food in my mouth at work. P.S. my diary is open, but…
  • I finished c25k in August and ran a few 5k's...I just increased my "long run" (I try to do at least one longer run a week) by 1/4 or 1/2 a week rather than doing the bridge to 10k because I didn't like the idea of going back to walking in the middle of my runs. I ran my first 10k this past weekend! :)
  • Yep, like everyone else I recommend c25k. I did it a little over six months ago, and have finished several 5k races, an obstacle race, and this past weekend my first ever 10k! I never could have done that without c25k.
  • I never step onto a treadmill if I can avoid it...it bores me to tears. I did c25k completely outdoors, mostly on roads but occasionally on trails. I 'graduated' about seven months ago, and currently my favorite place to run is the reservoir just down the street from my work. I change into my running gear right after work,…
  • 5.5 is about an 11 min mile, so I think it's just another way of saying MPH
  • You shouldn't need to drink very much water during your run. However, make sure you are WELL hydrated at least 24-48 hours before a run (or just stay hydrated all the time!) I drink close to a gallon of water a day and rarely feel the need to drink water on runs shorter than an hour.
  • I think current pace/mile?
  • Definitely sign up now! I am signed up for both Run For Your Lives in July and Warrior Dash in September, both of which are now sold out!
  • I'm signed up too!! Hartford? There are 5 of us on a team :D I'm so excited, I've always wanted to do one of these color runs! I was in exactly the same position as you, and I will swear by c25k. I did XC in high school but always hated it because of all the reasons you listed, but I think I was always trying to go too…
  • Um... "take in less than you put out" IS BMR/TDEE. How can you do that without knowing exactly how much you are "putting out"? Edit: I guess this has already been pointed out by a bunch of people  silly me!
  • That's one thing I love about races - you get this awesome hodgepodge of people! I did on this past Saturday, and although I had a decent time (33:07...not a PR, but not my worst time either) I came in 6th to last out of 96 runners. The #1 runner was only 12 years old, and the guy who came after me was 83 years old! I wish…
  • Honestly I think you may not be eating enough. I took a look at your last month or so in your diary, and there are a lot of days where either you are eating around only 1000 calories, or your deficit is 500-1000 calories. This is very not healthy and very well could be what is causing your black outs
  • I say absolutely! I started the program at the end of June and did my first 5k at the end of August. It was slow going and I walked some of it, but I still did it! Signing up for a 5k is wonderful motivation to run and keep at it. I've done a 5k every month since then, and I have another on January 19th (brrr!) and I am…
  • I actually prefer ground turkey to ground beef now - I think I like the texture better. I use it in tacos, chili, spaghetti, burgers, etc and it's all delicious!
  • Black Panther by Crystal Castles is my perfect running song!!
  • Hello! I'm 5'8" and started at 180 and am currently about 150 and at maintenance - pics in my profile :) When I was at 180, it was all chub and really no muscle...a lot of 5'8" ladies can pull off 180 really well though! I don't exercise as much as I should though (very little strength training, though I will be starting…
  • I have two drawers at work...one is my tea drawer, the other is my snack drawer. I'm looking in my snack drawer and I have oatmeal packets (100 cal), a couple protein bars, soup (less than 200cal a can), raisins and a tuna packet. But I also bring fresh fruit and veggies daily (today I have clementines, a banana, apple,…
  • Here's what I do: If I anticipate feeling particularly lazy in the morning, I will even go so far as to wear my workout clothes to bed so all I have to do is brush my teeth and go! I'll set my alarm 1/2 before I actually need to get up so that I can snooze 4-5 times but still have enough time to go to the gym. I've gotten…
  • That's wonderful, well done!! My first 5k was about the same time :)
  • Your time is amazing! And we have the same goals!! I have done five 5k's since completing c25k in August (one a month!) and have signed up for my first 10k on St. Patrick's Day in March! I know that I can run 10k - I ran 7.2 miles last week, which is officially my longest run so far. It was slow going, but I did it! And I…
  • I keep all sorts of fruits and veggies at work, along with greek yogurt, oatmeal, cottage cheese (I love it with fresh pineapple!)
