  • Companies are allowed to be incorrect by +/-20%. So if they calculated there to be 100 calories (actual) they can then list the product as having 80 calories (-20%). Sadly, calorie counting can be very misleading in actuality.
  • Hi everyone! I'm so glad I found this group. I try to explain to my friends what it is like to be insatiably hungry (because of the prednisone) and I feel like no one understands this frustrating experience. I've been on prednisone for basically 8 years, at various doses, for kidney disease. 2 weeks ago my kidney disease…
  • rather than giving up, I suggest trying a week or two on maintenance calories, and hopefully then you'll get your mojo back without doing any damage to the progress you've made!
  • I love making soups or a good turkey/bean chili. You can have a big bowlful and feel satisfied for a very reasonable amount of calories. Also, I make a spaghetti dish using spaghetti squash, Ragu light sauce, and then tons of onions/garlic/pepper/mushroom. Again, you can have a pretty decent serving size of that for hardly…
  • GREAT JOB! Those are my favourite victories- when your able to keep a promise to yourself, its like "yeah, thats right, I'm awesome and I'm worth it!"
  • I felt the same way for a long time, so i had to really focus on the feeling of accomplishment that I got after every workout. I think my anxiety was probably because I was so self conscious at the gym, and it really did require a lot of effort to work out! (especially if you keep pushing your limits, like I believe a good…
  • I definitely eat when im stressed. Im working on that, but today for example, I have to submit 5 assignments for school in the next 72 hours (very stressed). I just ate a whole bag of chocolate chips. :/ Managing my stress is a work in progress, for sure!
  • i think i have the same problem sometimes! when i cramp up i focus on breathing in for two steps then out for two, in for two, out for two, and then the cramps usually go away really quickly ( i keep jogging, but just slow down my pace if i have to until the cramps are gone).
  • im 5'1 and when i was 175 i was mostly about a 16 tho i fit into a lot of my 14's..but i think that may have been bc they are stretched out a bit
  • i use youtube. search 'tara stiles' and she has a bunch of routines from 7-15 minutes. I load a couple of my favourites and im set! sometimes after my cardio i just do one or two of her routines, other times i do like 6 of them
  • hahaha yoovie ^ that probably would have worked for me when i was that age! Like others, i would suggest asking her what she wants to do. Try asking her if there are any sports/physical activities she would like to try, but dont force it on her.
  • this is a great NSV! congratulations! I've recently had the same thing. Its such a great feeling when you can feel comfortable taking a day off, or having an easier workout day, and not feel guilty! Because you know that this is a lifetsyle change, and taking a day off wont stray you from your goals or cause you to lose…
  • for myself if i pick up a lot of fresh fruit i can spend around $150 a week on myself...im new at shopping lol, i live at my parents most of the year, so im still learning how to shop...but its an expensive lesson for sure!
  • i love the way my *kitten* is starting to look. i'll admit it; i'm sort of falling in love with my own *kitten*. Its perky and firm and muscely and awesome. so i dont plan on giving up the gym anytime soon.
  • hahha ! thats great! about 2 months ago i bought a new sports bra that i thought was exactly like my old one, but accidentally i got the size smaller. but in the last couple of weeks i've had to continually tighten my old one. And whatdya know, now my new one fits! Glad it didnt go to waste!
  • pretty sure that cabbage soup diet was invented for people who need to lose weight fast in an emergency, like before surgery or something. i could be wrong tho but thats what ive always heard
  • i just clicked on it and its working so far...might be my late night movie for tonight! thanks!
  • i was able to cut out a lot of my sweets/snacking by doing it for just one day at a time. Say to yourself, you wont have any today, but you will tomorrow. That makes it a lot easier to get through today. Then go two days. Once i started going two days without treats, one day with, almost all my cravings have gone away! if…
  • my biggest excuse for a undeserved snack... "it doesnt have THAT many calories" my excuse for not working out... "i worked out hard yesterday and i dont want to strain myself" (somewhat truth, somewhat excuse i think) or my favourite... "i dont really need to lose this weight RIGHT away... (maybe later)"
  • if tea is making you cramp my guess is ur dehydrated. i like to add a tea bag to my water bottle. you may have to experiment bc i found some flavours just dont taste good with cold water, but a green tean bag in water is really good!
  • i would think that to get the most out of it, you just need to be really honest with them, and honest with yourself! I went to a couple nutritionists/dieticians a few years ago. Mostly they were super helpful, but if anything they suggest doesnt make sense to you, make sure you ask questions about it, and dont be afraid to…
  • i eat acorn squash all the time! i make it as a quick snack, its fairly low-cal, and i find it really filling. I ate a whole squash this weekend by myself actually! (not all at once haha) to make it somewhat quickly, i cut it in half, scoop out the seeds, and poke some holes in the flesh with a fork, then microwave it, cut…
  • I love this! I have to set tons of daily and weekly goals to help me stay on track! This week: go swimming at least once! go biking outside! to push myself harder during yoga :) and to cut back on chocolate goodies!
  • i remember when i used to run more when i was younger (ran some cross country, nothing too impressive though) i would inhale for two steps and exhale for two steps and that was a good rythm for me. Im not as good of shape now, so sometimes i breath in with one step and out with the next step, but im trying to breath in for…
  • 1-2 poops/day is ideal, but you should be at minimum pooping every other day (im a 3rd year nursing student). Im not exactly sure of teh short term benefits/effects of not pooping, but i know i just plain feel better when im more regular lol. Over the long term, infrequent bowl movements has a big effect/connection to…
  • weight loss and lifestyle changes dont happen overnight! You had a splurge, and you're aware of it. I dont even think its really a bad thing. iTreats can help keep the moral up once in a while! I totally splurged on crap yesterday (double chocolate Xlarge cookie, a whole bag of M&M pretzels, and chocolate frozen yogurt)…
  • THAT IS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! thats one of the best NSV's ive ever read!!!! CONGRATULATIONS and thanks for posting!
  • first, a good food scale should be able to tell you what something weighs down to the gram or fraction of an ounce. when you weigh something u arent measuring it in cups (cups are volume) weight is grams/ounces/lbs. if you dont want to weigh something, then use measuring cups. Hope that helps a bit! weighing just helps…
  • artificial sweetner is not bad for you. some people dont respond well to it but medically it is perfectly okay to take. that said, it has been proven that consuming artificially sweetened drinks/foods will maintain your sugar cravings the same way that eating sugared foods/drinks does. So, if ur looking for a healthy…
  • YES! my go-to study snack these days is berries. sliced strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries. they;re a great low-cal, high fiber finger food for studying!
