I'll describe my wife as I think she is a perfect fit for me...well she has been for the last 21 or so years anyway: 1. Thoughtful 2. Caring 3. Attractive 4. Passionate 5. Compromising- hey we all can't be right all the time u know 6. Family first attitude 7. Not big on shopping for useless crap that accumulates in the…

The answer really lies in whether you want your children to attend public schools. No federal vaccination laws exist, but all 50 states require certain vaccinations for children entering public schools. Depending on the state, children must be vaccinated against some or all of the following diseases: mumps, measles,…

We made these tonight with: 1. 1.5 C instant oatmeal 2. 2 ripe bananas 3. 4 Tbs PB2 chocolate 4. 2 packets truvia 5. Cinnamon- few dashes We ended up with 9 as 12 were just too small. So by my calculations each cookie ended up being around 72 calories (around 650 for the batch). They are dry as someone else mentioned and…

My definition is a textbook one: An educator is "a specialist in the theory and practice of education" or "one trained in teaching". I would submit that a teachers aide is neither of those. I do not mean to belittle the job but calling a teachers aide an educator or a teacher is not fair to those that have put in the time…

3 quick points to clear the waters: 1. SHE IS NOT A TEACHER, she is a teacher's aide. Read my prior post to understand the difference. Not sure why you folks keep calling her a teacher or an educator---she is neither of those. 2. I checked with my wife and as far as she knows, they do not sign contracts (at least in CT and…

The avg salary takes into account all of the salary ranges so these 1st and 2nd year teachers are making probably around $35k. Half of them leave the profession within 3 years as the pay is too low and the stress from parents to high. My wife sets strict expectations for parents at the start of the year and backs her…

She is a teachers aide, not a teacher...does anyone know the difference? A teacher goes to college, does internships and passes a state licensing exam. Most are now being required to obtain a Masters degree within certain timeframes. A teacher's aide walks into the school off the street and says "hey I need a job, have any…

If she stopped after the first time she really wasn't committed. I congratulate you on making it to 3 fainting spells before you lost enough oxygen to the brain and realized this was not the way to go!!

So living in any of those states will afford you a much better cost of living, especially if you can move with your current salary (seems you can).

Short term we would be fine if one of us lost our job because we have a 6 month emergency fund. I max out my 401k each year ($17.5K) and set aside a few hundred per month for my 4 year old (her college is already paid for so this is spending money for her college years so she will not have to worry about working). I grew…

We average about $7,100 per month in total bills (including credit card expenditures and daycare). We carry no credit card balance from month to month so that is a big bill each month. But I do get about 3,500 a year in cash back on my Amex card.

Well said!

The holiday season should be about the spirit of giving. Who cares if your child does or doesn't believe in Santa. My 4 year old donates 1 gift for every gift she receives. Whether through her daycare collecting gifts, the church giving tree, the local firehouse or toys for tots. We have taught her that there are children…
