  • Im almost 30 and I can say that in my 20's, the biggest change in myself is getting comfortable with just being me. I mean my outside appearance and my inside. It happened gradually but I can see and feel a difference in myself now. I see a ton of tattoos on you so to me that says you must not care on some level what…
  • u need another doctor or specialist for this. You look pretty young and a training injury should not put you out for this long. As far as losing weight from weight lifting exercises, I think you can but I think you'd lose faster if you did some cardio too.
  • A few people suggested tonic as mixture. A 12 oz bottle of tonic has around 120 calories. A 12 oz bottle of club soad has zero. Club soda is water that is carbonated. Tonic is carbonated but has a slightly bitter taste. Drink whateve you want but know that tonic is not a calori free mixer.
  • Great workouts this week! Keep up the good work. Track everything you eat, cut back on salt so you are not holding water weight. 8 days is pretty brief. I bet you will lose a few by next week.
  • You are inspirational! Great job on your loss!
  • Ask the females in your life that are married/in relationships if they have any nice, single friends. Married women love to hook up their single friends.
  • Camfields brand sparkling flavored water is really good and has no artificial flavors or sweeteners. It doesnt taste sweet but it has a nice flavor if you are bored with plain water.
  • I used to hate cauliflower but tried it roasted and love it. To make roasted cauliflower soup roast the cut up cauliflower head with a small amount of ollive oil and salt at high heat until it starts to lightly brown. Put in in your food processor with a good quality veg or chicken stock. Its so simple so you really need a…
  • I'd say do whatever works for you and doesn't leave you feeling starved. For me, i eat breakfast around ten, lunch around 1, a small snack before dinner, dinner around 830 and then another small snack. Dinner is my biggest meal. I get tired if I eat a big lunch and im not a huge breakfast eater. pre dinner snack is around…
  • For the workout partner thing, I would try a bit more relaxed approach. Go to the gym around the same time and same days whenever possible and just say hi to people you see all the time. You will see the same people over and over. Make small talk. I would be a bit freaked out if someone approached me that I didnt know too…
  • If its a one on one situation, just be completly, totally silent. It makes the other person feel really akward. Even if they say something, stay silent. its fun to watch someone squirm when they really screw up like this. On another note, this behaviour is awful coming from your boss but I feel like some guys like to to…
  • My fave breakfast right now is the high fiber english muffin with an egg. I toast the engllish muffin the night before and pack the uncooked egg in a small, muffin sized tupperware coated with cooking spray. When Im ready for breakfast at work, I microwave the egg on medium heat till the yolk is set and then microwave the…
  • For your budget issue, try eating less meat. Thats usually the biggest cost on your grocery bill. When you serve meat, serve it cut up, think stir fry or casseroles or pasta dishes. Cutting meat up makes it go further. Stir fry might be good for the picky kid as she can only eat the stuff she likes. Hopefully she has one…
  • I find that there is a fine line to walk so that I'm not overeating at night. If I try too hard to not eat during the rest of the day, I end up gorging myself at night. If I eat all my calories by the end of my dinner, then I still want just a little something and Im over my calorie limit. I think eating a well balanced…
  • Your post made me want to cry! You sound like such a loving, giving person. Helping a family in need, worried about your husband, caring for your stepdaughter. I'm glad you are on this site and taking steps to get healthy. We all get down about how we look. Even those women at MK, no matter how skinny they are, have had…
  • I really dont think its going to make any difference. If you were drinking a bottle a night or a six pack of beer a night, then yes, you would speed up your weight loss if you cut it. One glass a night? To me, it doesnt seem like a big enough vice to give it up, especially being a new mom.
  • I freelance for a company and am on my first job in a while, struggling with the same thing you are... I just got out my calendar and scheduled my workouts. Im training for a ten mile race in november so im following a training shcedule but had to do some serious reworking due to work. I know I will not work out on…
  • Ive had that happen while jogging hills. Normally I run on a flat surface so maybe the fact that my workout was especially hard contributed to the side stitches. My diet that day was in my normal range. I just stopped jogging, walked slowly and the pain stopped after about 30 seconds.
  • Wow. Glad you didn't get smacked in the face! Ouch! Seriously though, I know what you mean about the whole big bone thing buuuuttt. There is a range. For my height I can be something like 140 lbs or 104 lbs and still be considered a healthy BMI. Im just pointing out that there is a pretty wide range of healthy. Im in the…
  • i cant stand artificial sweeteners. yuck. I cant believe I used to drink diet coke. I gave it up bc it was too much money (yeah I was pretty broke) but now I cant stand the taste. Im not sure why the apple would have that reaction. I tried a raw food diet once and my vegan friend told me my body was probably not going to…
  • There is that whole thing about rating your hunger on a 1 to 10, 1 being ready to pass out from starvation and 10 being thanksgiving. They say to try to stop while you are at a 5 or 6, content but not really feeling full yet. Maybe you can try in the days leading up to your vacation to pay closer attention to that when you…
  • Get what you want and try to plan ahead. You can pretty much guarantee that if you eat at a restaurant, that will be the highest calorie meal of you day. Plan on that. Order what you like but make it healthier than what is offered. If its a burger and fries, get rid of the bun (about 100+calories), skip the cheese (another…
  • Too funny you posted this...I just had to rework my trainging schedule today as some things have come up for a job I occasionally work. It was really stressing me!! I like the warm up/ cool down idea from carsonruns. Although... I really think you could handle the challenge of counting the 6.2 race as your 5 mile run for…
  • yes, im trying to focus my energy on the run days. ive switched my run and cross days so i run when im optimal, ie not hung over or tired etc. enjoying my runs seems like a long ways off haha. i like the feeling of finishing thats for sure! thanks for the tips! its good to remember that its about great health. thank you…
  • move. call it exercise, walking, running, sports, whatever. just dont sit on your booty.
  • thanks for the tip on starting from a new location. I tried that this week, thanks google maps!, and it did help.
  • go perfect 10!
  • Thanks everyone! Yes, I am running the 'perfect 10' in chicago. Ive been following the hal higdon training program for beginners so i run 3 days a week, cross train 3 days a weeks (i think?) and do stregth and extra stretching on any two days for a total of 6 days a week. I think i might rework the training so i have two…
  • i've heard that the lower belly area is, for women, the hardest spot to get firm. You cant spot reduce so just keep eating right, exercising and you will get there. For a specific exercise for this area I like leg raises and but lift your bum when you get your legs all the way up.
