  • Hi, I'm on day 6 of week 1 and seeing great results. I'm an old pro at weightloss ;) and this plan makes sense for me right now. I need guidelines to follow, or I just don't ;) lol Looking for others doing this plan!
  • I am on Day 6 of Week 1, and no official results yet, but unofficially I am shrinking ;) Are you still working it?
  • Great goals, guys! I'm not making any this year. Seems I just set myself up for failure. And the way this weather is going, I dunno if my butt will ever see a saddle again! We've gone from 45 degrees and rain to -30below windchills , back to 50 degrees and rain in a week. Supposed to be cold but nice tomorrow, but there is…
  • All done! This was my first Koontz book, and I have to say it just didn't click with me. I did find it a fairly easy read, and should have been done much faster, had it held my interest. I'm not going to say it was the book's fault, though; I really have to be in the right mood, and it just didn't do it for me. What's next?
  • I'm just getting started on it, but so far so good! Krystina, you're FAST! lol
  • Beautiful! Congratulations, you'll have so much fun together :) Santa does get terribly backlogged. ;)
  • sounds good to me!
  • What about something by Koontz? I've never read him before. Someone suggest a title!
  • Krystina said earlier that we'd pick another one after the holidays. I'm reading Deer Season... and I can't remember the author! It's good though. It's a murder mystery, and a nice quick read, I thought I'd squeeze it in before our next one ;)
  • I rode my Sully at 345 with a 26lb Aussie saddle. My limitations were massive. I didn't do much trotting, no galloping, because I couldn't keep from slamming his back. But he's a 16.2 draft cross that weighs anywhere from 1600 to 1900 lbs depending on the quality of the pasture he's on :) I also went to great lengths to…
  • I have seriously enjoyed reading this entire thread. :drinker:
  • I am replying to this before even reading the replies :) But I just had to say that I totally agree with you on the lack of manners and self-involvement. I come from a very old-fashioned southern upbringing, and I think it's sad that people, and largely, but not exclusively, young people do not know how to interact with…
  • Forgot to check in! Loved it. Such a sweet, sort of uplifting book. We need these from time to time :) I love Kingslovers easy way with words, she keeps a nice pace going. I'll def. be reading the rest of her books! What did everyone else think?
  • And I just want to say, I am not an egg snob. Or an organic snob. I'm extremely fortunate to be able to have my own chickens, and I wish everyone had the same opportunity. But grocery stores exist for a reason! I don't buy organic, ever. Not because I don't think it's a good idea, but because I know it's pretty useless.…
  • ^^^ This. Unless, of course, you're anal retentive about landscaping. Or having to check your shoes before entering the house.
  • Wonder no more ;) http://tbnranch.com/2011/11/21/industrial-egg-production-the-facts/ These are actually MY free range hens: http://twobairdsproofit.wordpress.com/2013/11/07/around-the-farms/ There are some other animals in there as well... we don't eat them :p
  • I spend roughly $52/mo for feed (that's 200#) And I get an average of 15 eggs a day. In addition to pelleted feed, I buy 1 bag of 7grain scratch per month during the winter, for extra energy to keep them warm, and they free range the majority of each day, turning my compost pile and picking up what they can find. I grind…
  • Raising your own meat/produce/dairy etc is far from free; don't get into it if you expect to save money! Which is why our farmers struggle so much. In my neck of the woods though, everybody has chickens, you can't sling a cat without hitting a "Fresh Eggs for Sale" sign (though it's usually spelled "For Sell." :P So it's a…
  • Mine are free :) Sort of! I just have to go pick them up out of the nests every day. But I do it because I like to know my chickens are treated well, free ranged, no drugs or hormones, etc. I sell my eggs for 2.50/doz. At Walmart here, the "organic, pastured" eggs are almost $5/doz! And aren't nearly as organic as they…
  • Downton Abbey, Walking Dead Person of Interest Justified Longmire Call the Midwife I don't know what days they come on, though, I get them streaming. :)
  • I'm almost done with it, really enjoying it! (I read through our power outage the other day ;) ) I can really identify with the two main characters and where they're from. The language seems real to me, too. I'll be reading more by this author, for sure.
  • Use your hand to estimate portions (google would be my best advice, becasue I can't remember the different sizes exactly!). carry a little notebook and pen with you, and just log using that, just so you can keep up with where you're at (don't even have to have calories, just write down what you eat; seeing it will help…
  • Ditto! Mine is half heeler half Border Collie, but the heeler personality is dominant. Best dog I ever had. But training is essential. Mine is annhilating the coon population that is currently stalking my chicken flock. Every morning, dead coon in the yard, smiling heeler :p
  • Oh my, I'm finding this already an easy and extremely enjoyable read. How have I not found this author before? I love book club ;)
  • Sounds great! I've never read this author before; looking forward to it!
  • I finally finished it! And I loved it. Not as much as Bitterroot or Crusader's Cross, but I just get lost in the countryside. Whether he's writing about the swamps of Louisiana or the mountains of Montana, he just transports you right there. I thought the last paragraph was a bit hokey, perhaps could have ended it less…
  • Sounds good to me, too. I've already found it on Kindle :) I have 1 chapter left in LOTW, will finish tonight!
  • Lol, that's the way Steve is. And he's just recently discovered Joe Hill and is catching up there. He told me I might not like J.H., I enjoy horror, but not too scary? I know, I'm a wimp. I feel I've matured a lot though, Walking Dead is my very favorite tv show... prior to watching that, I'd never seen a zombie flick in…
  • I have read every thing King's done: hubby is a rabid fan, so reading him is a marital requirement :) I highly highly recommend 11-22-63. That's the best thing he's done in years, and I could not put it down. No hard feelings here if y'all ever want to tackle king, I'll use it as an excuse to catch up! ;)
  • Gretchen was originally introduced in Creole Belle, If I remember correctly, and from the start she's struck me more as a male fantasy than a real person. He really needs to flesh her character out a lot more, and tone her down. Having read this series for the past 10 or so years, I've loved the realistic way in which he's…
