  • Just finished my first day an hour ago. Man, that's tough. Once I get the hang of how it all works and what to do, I plan on using a heart rate monitor while working out.
  • I began logging my food a few weeks before I started watching what I ate, and almost everyday was 3,500-4,500 calories. Now at 2000, I really don't miss a thing... except the 12 pack of pepsi per day and pizza buffet.
  • Breakfast: Fast food sausage egg and cheese biscuit sometimes 20oz-1 liter of chocolate milk Lunch: Hardees thickburgers/large fries/large soda Not necessarily Hardees everyday, but incredibly horrible meals. Dinner: Chili/Spaghetti/Tacos/etc, roughly the same thing I have now... but now I'll have 2 cups of chili instead…
  • Been there, done that (last week)... and as a now ex-smoker, and with 80+ pounds to lose, you know what? If I can do it, I bet you can too. The entire day I was thinking to myself, "There's no way I can do this. That's a loooong time. I'll just do what I can, and I'll re-do the week until I get it." Not only did I end up…
  • Modify using the stairs, or a nice sturdy chair. Using the stairs are nice because they don't move/wiggle, and you can start with your hands higher up for easier pushups, and then work your way down.
  • The app you have might be the free version. I think there is a $1-2 paid version that will let you change screens without exiting the C25K countdown. I also use, and highly recommend the NHS C25K podcasts. http://www.nhs.uk/LiveWell/c25k/Pages/couch-to-5k.aspx

  • 1) Ow. Rock. Ow. In. Ow. Shoe. Ow. Hurts. 2) Damnit, the sun is really bright. I need to stop forgetting my sunglasses. 3) I can't let them pass me (people running on the track). Even if nobody else knows I got passed by a girl, I'll know. (Yes, I know it's a bit sexist... and yes, I continue to get passed) 4) I wonder if…
  • Awesome! Congrats! That's just the kind of news that will help me push through week 4. 10-12 minute mile here too helenium.
  • I should finish up Week Two today, and looking forward to Week Three. I SO want to jump ahead in the program but have to fight the urge. This is my third attempt since March/April at doing the C25K series... so I'm hoping I don't lose my motivation. Good luck!
  • pizza. I miss pizza. :frown:
  • Try starting out with knee (aka girlie) pushups? It will change your center of gravity and make things much easier for starting off. Also, you can try doing regular pushups using stairs. With your feet solid on the ground, put your hands 4-5 stairs up and try a few. Just keep your butt and back straight.

  • Eh, boobs and butts really don't matter to me (and I'm a guy)... but her attitude sure does.
  • A pound of feathers still weighs a pound...
  • That. I'm constantly eating or nibbling on something. I went from eating 2-3 huge meals that left me miserable to eating something small every hour or two. Carrots, celery, potato/veggie straws, watermelon, apples, you name it.
  • Android is definitely the way to go. Avoid iDevices like the plague. For Verizon, I'd *highly* recommend the Motorola Bionic. It sounds odd, but pretty much all of the Motorola Android phones are rock solid. Just upgraded from a Moto Droid (original) to the Thunderbolt. Eh, the battery life isn't totally great (10-ish…
  • Before and after, be nice. During the routine(s), be one badass drill sargeant .
  • I'd highly recommend an Android phone -- just make sure you don't get one of the lower end phones. My wife and I both have the HTC Thunderbolt and absolutely love it. The Samsung Charge is also great, fast and an even more beautiful screen. Once you use the 4.3" screen, you'll never want to use another tiny phone again.…
  • I went through a few of the apps in the Android Market and although they worked just fine (my wife bought one of them), I still like the NHS Podcasts the best. No app needed! http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/c25k/Pages/couch-to-5k.aspx I especially like how the music changes depending on if it's walk or run time. She also gives…

  • That's awesome, and funny :) I'll make sure I drop more weight before I get back to the Wii Fit and see what it says. Maybe next time the balance board won't creak and crack on me! Congrats!
