Also, weight fluctuates so you don't want to weigh yourself daily. I would maybe pick one day a week when you weigh in and do it in the morning after emptying bowels and bladder and before you eat or drink anything.

Are you doing exercise with your diet? Sometimes just decreasing calories can slow your metabolism unless you exercise to keep it revved up. A good way to decrease calories and keep your metabolism up if you are not able to exercise much is to divide your daily calories into 6 smaller meals spaced a few hours apart, that…

Here is a calculator to figure calories to maintain weight, and then decrease it a thousand calories a day to lose 2 pounds a week. http://www.mayoclinic.org/calorie-calculator/ITT-20084939

I am quite familiar with the struggle, lol I have found that heavy weight training helps transform them back into manly pecs. Also, you want to avoid beer and soy products as they increase estrogen and decrease testosterone, which only makes the man boob issue worse.

Anyone can feel free to add me. The more motivation the merrier.

I'm doing about 3 hours cardio and 2 hours of weight training a week. I have lost 52 pounds since August and without losing any muscle mass.

I started out with 112 pounds to lose in August and am down 52 pounds so far. I am finding it harder to stay motivated than I did in the beginning and could definitely use some support and accountability myself. Anyone can add me, the more motivation the better :)

Eating 6 small meals a day helps boost your metabolism. A common mistake with dieting is to skip meals, but when you go for long periods of time without eating it slows your metabolism down. Also, a lot of people focus on cardio for weight loss but strength training is another great way to boost your metabolism. Strength…

Take small steps towards getting healthier so you do not get overwhelmed. Start going for a walk a few times a week, cut out late night snacking, drink more water, etc. Each little change adds up and it gets easier with time. Good luck :)

I try to find healthier substitutions for the unhealthy foods I like to eat, or make healthier versions using different ingredients. It helps me feel like I'm getting the foods I like without sabotaging my weight loss.

Anyone can feel free to add me. The more motivation the merrier, I still have at least 50 more pounds to lose :)

I had to cut out the alcohol in order to start losing weight, because whenever I drank I would get the urge to snack on things like nachos and pizza at like 11pm at night.

If you are a guy, beer increases estrogen production and in turn reduces testosterone, which will make it tougher to lose belly fat. Also, alcohol turns to sugar in the blood stream and affects insulin response. It is best to avoid alcohol altogether in my opinion, but at the least it should definitely be consumed in…

Same here. I have just recently gotten into the community part of MFP and I think it helps with motivation and accountability.

You should check out the TLC diet, it is recommended by the Mayo clinic for reducing cholesterol. I have reduced mine about 20 points in 6 months using the TLC diet as a bit of a guideline.

Wrap your index finger and thumb around your wrist on the opposite arm. If they overlap you have a small bone structure, if they just touch you have a medium bone structure, and if they do not touch you have a large bone structure.

Watching youtube videos about different forms of working out really helps motivate me. I like to mix it up and try unorthodox exercises to keep fitness fun and interesting.

I tried a more plant based diet and it turned out I have a soy and garbanzo bean intolerance, so getting enough protein was just too tough. I could probably do pescatarian though, as I love seafood and it is high in protein.

Have you tried incorporating strength training into your routine? Tasking your muscles can boost your metabolism for up to 48 hours ultimately burning more calories than the time spent doing cardio. I try to do equal parts strength training and cardio, either strength first cardio second or alternating days. Also, I would…

Keep healthier snack options around. I keep salted caramel nature valley protein bars in the cupboard to satisfy any sweet tooth cravings. They are 190 calories with 10 grams of protein.
