We are struggling with whether to have a third (currently have 18-month-old twins), and the problem with this decision is that you can't make it logically. There is a long, long "con" list, mostly involving freedom and money and convenience, and only two things on the "pro" side: 1) Less chance you'll end up alone and…

Do you have it set to lose 2 pounds per week? Set it to lose half a pound per week and you will get more food. I am 5 inches shorter than you and I get 1400. ETA: Seeing the above, you answered my question. There is no need to hurry. Put it on .5 or 1 pound a week as your goal and you'll get more food and probably stick…

Please donate them. While volunteering I have had homeless women ask me for underwear - if they're clean, a lot of people don't care if they are used or not. You can call around to see if anyone accepts them.

I know that there is (rightly) a lot of argument against specialized or food-restricting diets on MFP. And I am not saying you NEED to do this. But your story reminded me so much of my mom that I had to post. She is also diabetic and was always in a significant amount of pain. We did Whole30 together last year, starting in…

I have 18-month-old twins who only want to eat fruits and vegetables. So I feel you. They do like beans, so we do that a lot, and I give them nuts and avocado for the fat. How about plain yogurt with fruit that you add? Much better than the flavored stuff, and Greek nonfat yogurt has a lot of protein in it - you can also…

This is the same as people being sad about Christmas trees getting cut down. Christmas trees are grown on farms, by humans, for other humans to cut down and decorate. Let us not shed tears for the pumpkins.

Bagels and cream cheese are pretty standard. Yes there will be some difference in the amount of cream cheese you get, but I would just use an entry for the same flavors from Panera or Einstein. As far as the breakfast burrito goes, your options are guesstimate, take it apart for a more accurate guesstimate, or eat…

How would you feel if you found out that he was posting on a public message board about your body and your habits, and how you need to change for him? This is not OK.

I had the same problem when I first switched away from eating very high fiber cereals every morning. After a few weeks my body adjusted and I became regular (as in daily) again. If you really want to make the switch, eat lots of veg, drink lots of water, and GIVE IT TIME.

I love the increasing popularity of Paleo because it makes it really easy to find delicious recipes that focus on lean protein and vegetables. I'm not "doing Paleo" but we do mostly buy and eat that way at home, and enjoy our treats when we're out being social or doing something fun.

Acorn squash with ground turkey, spinach, olive oil and lots of Tsardust Memories seasoning. 450 calories.

Sounds like they are allowing for a small amount of oil, as 100 grams of cooked zucchini is only 15 calories (according to USDA). If it has a whole teaspoon of oil on it, you're still looking at only 55 calories total. I wouldn't worry about it too much - I don't think that your zucchini is an indulgence.

Took this pic after the end of my best triathlon season, in 2010 - I think we did an Olympic and three or four sprints that summer/fall. Currently not racing because of the time commitment (choosing to spend that time catching up on sleep or playing with my 17-month-old twins instead). I have no regrets about that choice,…

I work second shift, so not quite the same - but my "day" is from when I get up until when I get off work. If I eat something after I get home but before I go to bed, I track it on the next day. I don't need to eat right before I go to bed but it's often tempting, and this stops me because I want those calories to use…

I have one, on my big toe, that I got when I was 19. It's a caterpillar. No particular meaning, it's just fun. More than one person has said "I bet you regret that!" Actually, no, 14 years later and I still love it. Some people know themselves pretty well when they are 19.

Two chi-poos - chihuahua/toy poodle mixes. Chosen because: 1) They are cuuuuuuute. 2) We lived in an apartment at the time, and an apartment is plenty of space for 7-10 pound dogs. 3) They don't shed. 4) They are none too bright, which means they do not escape from places or open anything, and they don't get bored and…

Well, think about everyone you know in real life. At least a few of those people suck, right? When you post on the internet, you are inviting every person with an internet connection to be part of your conversation. Some of those people suck.

If you really thought it was OK to eat 500 calories for the day, I don't think you would have posted this. Go eat.

Shrimp and Canadian bacon are two of my low-cal favorites. Shrimp can be $$ but I watch for deals on frozen peeled shrimp.

Probably around 2200. As a 5'4" lady it doesn't take much to make me gain.

"I feel great and my doctor and coach are keeping a close eye on me. Oh hey, [redirect focus to them by asking about something they like to talk about]?"

I would go to a beginning yoga class or do Stretch X.

Once you've been doing it for a while, your Recent and Frequent fields will fill up and it becomes a lot faster. I have 16-month-old twins and there are a lot of things I don't have time to do, but logging my food is not one of them. It takes max ten minutes a day. I did find it very annoying at first but now I don't even…

Yeah this is posted in "Fun" for a reason.

I have 17-month-old twins and ALL they want to eat is fruits and vegetables. I have started resorting to Cheez-its to get something else into their systems. (The all-produce diet is chock full of nutrients but not so nice for the toddler digestive system.) I was doing P90X while they ran around the house until one of them…

Some good citations and studies linked here: http://www.muscleforlife.com/does-alcohol-consumption-affect-weight-loss-and-muscle-growth/ Life is for living. Not for triple-counting every beer.

Are there people who do not have a giant stack of magazines and catalogs that they never get to? Mail will forever keep me from being bored. (Plus all the magazines I pick up at the checkout stand to read in my imaginary hours of free time.) Here's a joke for you: What's red and invisible? No tomatoes.

I totally understand where you are coming from. I have ALWAYS struggled with consistency when it comes to calories or points or whatever. It just seemed like a huge drag. Even just writing down my food, without looking up the calories or nutrients/macros, was too much. Then I decided that I wanted to track my food for 30…

I liked PB until I discovered almond butter and sunflower butter - now I prefer them. I wish they came chunky though, chunky PB has the best texture.
