  • I got this and used it a little but it has been gathering dust on the shelf since I started the C25K. It certainly is a lot of fun and I can see it becoming a very enticing alternative to running on rainy days in the very near future.
  • I use Your Shape 2012 and I use my HRM to get my calorie count for the workouts I do on there. The one thing I have found is that the calories are a lot lower than MFP gives you for light aerobic workout, probably due to the stop /start nature of loading the workouts and navigating the menus. Might be worth noting how long…
  • the NHS have just produced a C25K+ podcast (http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/c25k/Pages/running-podcast.aspx) which might interest you, it seems to focus on building speed and greater endurance
  • I would recommend listening to some music as a distraction, rather than concentrate on clock watching and how hard it is (and I know it is hard at first) listen to some good music and try to get into a rhythm to the beat, for me this seems to make it easier to get through when I am tired.
  • I am on week 6 right now and I am thoroughly enjoying the program. Not only is it getting me fitter my self confidence is coming on in leaps and bounds. It seemed impossible a week ago that I could run for 20 minutes and the thought of it made me nervous. Now I have managed it I am raring to go and cannot wait to run for…
  • Well done, keep it up it is certainly worth the time and effort.
  • For myself the fact that it is regimented and the fact it slowly builds up the ability to run the C25K plan is perfect. Some people need plans and organised exercise in order to motivate ourselves into doing these things, some people, like yourself, can just do it and get the benefit doing it their way.
  • You could simply do your everyday stuff at a more vigorous level. If you are cleaning the house do a little dance as you go along, or really put your back into it and try to wash the window quicker than you normally would. Also do not give up on your treadmill, if you keep going you will eventually be walking on their for…
  • I try and get to the gym twice a week to compliment the C25K and I tend to concentrate on slightly different things. I warm up on the Elliptical or AMT then use the rowing machine for around 20 minutes to work the arms and the back, I do some simple resistance training (leg push, chest push and seated row) and finish the…
  • "What's Next To the Moon" Original AC/DC Cover Mark Kozelek Mark Kozelek brought heart and soul to what was a straight ahead rocker. "Baby, One More Time" Original Britney Spears Cover Travis The Travis version is simply heartbreaking.
  • Sheffield Steelers fan (they play in the UK league) but I follow the Flyers in the NHL.
  • I have just joined the challenge, I hope to manage at least 40 miles this month.
  • I am a big bloke and I had a similar phobia to the OP. When I joined the gym I expected to be greeted with sneers and whispering behind my back because I was a fat guy trying to run on a treadmill. What I found was quite the opposite. I found the gym is a place I can go and pretty much leave my self conciousness at the…
  • Requiem for a Dream (Orchestral Version) by Clint Mansell. Perfect for a warm up on the Elliptical trainer.
  • The best thing I can recommend is getting yourself a Heart Rate Monitor. Another thing I can recommend is using a walk/run tracker on your smart phone. I use a free app called Endomondo, it records your route and uploads it to their website, from their you can get more details about the speeds you did and the distance you…
  • Sorry about that, I guess I missed your Coronation.
  • ***FACEPALM***
  • By by very definition she LOST the item (to come to be without something through accident, theft etc.). If the shops do not make an effort to minimise the theft then yes they are negligent and need to shoulder the blame to a degree, if they make every effort to stop the theft then they share no blame. Just like if the…
  • Why should we as people not take responsibility for our own actions and mistakes? Why should we be allowed to give temptation to these people through negligence and not have to pay the consequences? Why should we take the moral high ground and hide behind their actions while ignoring our own? If you leave your wallet on…
  • Sorry about that, it appears we hijacked the thread for our own petty disgreement.
  • All you have proven is that it could be either stolen or lost, there is always more than one action to a theft. Negligence is as important as the act of theft.
  • It comes down to accepting society as it is, people are always going to steal from you, people are always going to drink and drive and people are always going to take advantage of opportunity. By not giving these people the opportunities to do this we can reduce the risk of things happening. The guilty are still guilty. If…
  • But why should we blame others and not accept responsibility for something that was our fault? It was not stolen, it was left in a public place and unattended. Pure an simple negligence. If I left my car unlocked and the door wide open what right do I have to say it was someone else's fault that my car stereo was stolen?…
  • You are doing what people do in factories and restaurants all over the world, working for a living. Maybe you need to set your activity level to "Active" and no longer log the house cleaning as exercise. Or maybe factory workers should log their entire day as exercise and set their activity level to "Sedentary".
  • I always log showering as exercise, but then again I shower by roller blading naked through the sprinklers in my local park shampooing and scrubbing as I go, not to mention the calories burned from running from the Police officers sent to arrest me for flashing. Always a good burn.
  • It is always upsetting when you lose something, but you lost it rather than have it stolen. We you leave something that is valuable unattended, blaming the person who picked it up is unfair when it was your own negligence that got the Kindle stolen. Unfortunately modern society in general is in decline, good samaritans are…
  • I started my weight loss journey with Aqua Aerobics and I found it a fun way to exercise and it really worked for me the first few weeks building some stamina to finish it as well as. Like pipstrellus said above it is all in how hard you push yourself for how much you get out of it. I felt the benefits within only a few…
  • I think the only issue with logging cleaning the house is where to you draw the line? If we are logging any and all kinds of exercise then every time we do something that isn't sitting we should be logging it? I clean my flat once a week and I have never considered calorie counting this as exercise, the same way I don't…
  • You could just put on some music and dance around for a while, that will be fun and burn a few of those C's.
