  • I personally hold the opinion that both are delicious... That being said, I don't consider Chicago style "pizza" as pizza. True pizza, like that served at John's, Lombardi's, or Patsy's in NY, is cooked in an extremely high oven for a very, very short amount of time, and has a extremely thin crust. Chicago style pizza is…
  • I love the Nanos
  • New PR: Power Clean: 2 x 1 at 185 lbs I'm 158 pounds, so was pretty f'ing stoked about that.
  • Yep. Following 5-6 day/week Crossfit programming, I have lost 15 lbs, 8% BF, and all of my lifts (Clean, Squat, Shoulder Press, Clean and Jerk, Snatch, Deadlift) have all increased by at least 40 lbs each, 120 lbs for the deadlift. Chris

  • Yeah, help me too.
  • I love Chicken Wings, but I make them at home. I had the traditional fried wings the other day, and honestly I'm starting to like these even better. I got this from Bon Apetit magazine. Makes 2 Servings of 7 Wings: 11 Oz Chicken Wings, Split (About 7 Whole/14 Split Wings) Salt & Pepper 1.5 Tbsp Unsalted Butter 3 Tbsp Texas…
  • After 5 Months of CrossFit: 2 RM: Clean: 95 -> 160 Snatch: 65 -> 115 Push Press: 95 - 145 Squat: 185 -> 225 (This number is low because I go up very slowly due to hernia surgery in Feb) Still haven't done a bench press once :)
  • The play adaptation of Les Mis, or the whole 7 Billion page collection of books collectively known as Les Miserables? Cause of it's the latter, well done. I've been working on that for 3 years.
  • Struggling through 100 Years of Solitude. Just finished The Stone Angel. Summer break from my MA in Literature, so I'm trying not to read 1200 pages a week..
  • Another interesting thing. While I was looking up why exercise helps create testosterone, I noticed most of the pages talked about adding Zinc to your diet. As I wasn't taking any supplements that contained Zinc, I just kind of passed it over. Today, while looking up foods that help fight colds, I noticed that eggs are one…
  • If you can, try getting with a trainer that can teach you, with PROPER FORM, how to do Cleans, Snatches, and Jerks (and all the Power, Hang, etc variations on them). They are explosive compound lifts, a lot of fun, and get the heart rate up. Also, some dumbell rows never hurt anybody. My only criticism, and its a very tiny…
  • Just want to thank everyone for the well wishes, kudos, and congratulations!

  • Couple things. As others have mentioned, you need to stop eating out and start making your own meals. Without getting all cultish about processed vs. whole foods and all that, it lets you control what you are eating to a much higher degree than guestimating. Personally, I do not believe in the whole "If It Fits Your…
  • It's all relative. Weight may come off easier for a 300 lb person, but it's a lot harder for them to walk up a flight of stairs. As we get healthier, things come easier. So while they may an easier time dropping the first 100 pounds then I do trying to lose 15, pretty much everything in their life is a hell of a lot harder…
  • Looks like a cop.
  • 1- CrossFit vs Insanity: Most IMPORTANTLY, Insanity is a weight loss program. That is what it is designed for and, from what I've seen, provides great results. Most of the 'definition' that comes from the workouts isn't from building strength pre se. Do you build muscle? Yes, some. But what you really do with Insanity is…
  • What She^ said. Personally, I do every workout as Rx'ed, unless it includes Powerlifting/Olympic at a weight that I can barely do. I do Short Complex at 95 lbs (Rx'ed for guys) and it takes me about an hour. I've seen guys bigger than me do it at 65 and it takes them 45 minutes. Because its a tough weight, my HR is up…
  • Low-Impact: Swimming. High-Impact: Metabolic Conditioning. Mix of weightlifting with medium weight, bodyweight, and cardio exercises. Here's an example: 3 Rounds of Run 400m, 21 KB Swings (Guys 55 lbs/Girls 35 lbs), and 12 Pull-ups. Do all 3 exercises, then repeat 3 times. Took me 17 minutes, and I'm in pretty good shape.…
  • I had just finished a WoD (Workout of the Day) at my CrossFit Box, which was 21-18-15-12-9 of Deadlifts, Power Cleans, Front Squats, Push Jerks (Do 21 DL, 21 PC, 21 FS, 21PJ, 18 DL etc til you finish with 9 PJ) all at 95 lbs. Took me 61:36. Definitely earned my weekend.
  • It could just be your shorts. I used to wear some shorts with a string in the waistband that gave me some problems. Also if your shirt isn't tight fitting, it will rub against you when you do the sit-ups. Now I just take my shirt off. Lot's of chicks work out it sports bras at my box.
  • I was sitting by the pool and reading a book when.. Girl 1 "That guy over there is pretty cute" Girl 2 "Yeah, but he's kinda fat" Yahtzeeeeee.
  • Welcome! I go between 4-6x a week, depending on work/school/social stuff. Just a friendly reminder that a lot of the WOD's can be scaled. Just because everyone else is doing Fran as Rx'ed doesn't mean you have to. I'm 5 months in, and still scaling myself. I have Helen for programming today which is set at 55lb KB swings.…
  • It could be sugar. Seriously. Almost everything from McDonalds has a ton of uber-refined sugar in it, especially the cheese and the breads. Sugar can be addictive, and cause cravings. Maybe the next time you are jonesin' for some Golden Arches, have a piece of dark chocolate. I think the biggest thing that has improved my…
  • Skinny- Would love to see your face, but I definitely like what I can see.
  • Amy's Organic makes Light & Lean meals. I love the burrito.
  • I might catch some flak for this, but if you want an honest answer. Yes, I have turned sex down many times. Sometimes it was just normal reasons: Long day, anxiety over work, sore from the gym, but... About 3 years ago I was in a very serious relationship. We lived together, had a dog, the whole deal. I fell in love with…
