  • Congrats on your progress, If you are still losing weight then I don't really see the issue. If your not losing, unless you're very short then you can't be logging everything - by not losing I mean over a month. If you really want to increase the calorie deficit then, more exercise, replace the snacks/sweets/sausage rolls…
  • Q: where would I buy these "protien whey powder" from. I think Holland & Barretts And they have buy one get second for a penny. www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/categories.asp?cid=47
  • I have same scales, they are fairly consistent - I record the Fat% as part of a weigh in to confirm a downwards trend. You need to make sure you're fairly dry as it uses an electrical pulse to measure.
  • Definitely shopping on a regular basis (GF goes every day). If you don't have as much time, precooking lots of your food into meals and freezing them gives the advantage of portion size control, food keeping longer and something you can zap so quick when your back from work rather than going for the unhealthy quick option.…
  • I don't think people are saying everything in moderation is good for you, rather that it's not the end of the world. So to use your example cyanide naturally occurs in many foods like flax seeds, apricots, almonds, soy, etc but people generally don't worry about the levels because we can deal with it when it's in…
  • I find closest food I can and add about 20% for cooking (very few places in uk give calories)
  • My gf who can only do western food for a few days at best offers to do cooking.
  • BMI is such a wide range but think I'll be in there some place in the middle. I seem to be uniquely average here  I am using BMI as a guide for targets but won't use it as an end goal, that'll be where I think I'm okay size and fitness wise.
  • I like to sprinkle cayenne pepper on mine for a kick or just a pinch of sea salt.

  • No not always, I see movement about every fortnight but do weekly so in the habit. Also I once lost over 3 lbs but the measurements stayed the same. Next week I lost very little and tape dropped by a couple of inches around stomach. I have a lot more excess than you do, so will see bigger gains at first.
  • You could take a pad and write your food and exercise down - then log when you get back from your 6 days if you want - this will give you an idea about what you're eating. You could also take photos of your food for later analysis. Think you and your husband enjoying your time should be a priority (if that means logging,…
  • I do an official weigh in on Friday after work and do measurements same time. I'm interested in the progress rather than actual numbers at the moment, perhaps when closer to goal I'll relook to see what is considered best time to do measurements.
  • not a clue what it said 5 weeks ago, so pass.
  • Ahhhh but when you show them MFP, they fall over and say is that all?

  • in UK so our summer (weather) started Monday and is over today, so 1 lbs would be fantastic  For the 6 weeks 9-12 lbs would be good to great (and puts me over 1/2 way to first goal). Even 6 lbs ok as that gets me to even 2 stone loss.
  • It is likely to be a later in life impact but by being healthy now, it's one you can reduce the risks of. Cholesterol isn't the main cause of cholesterol, it's saturated fats you should be careful with.

  • Checks your sauces and dressings - you can make your own really simply.. I noticed your ham is quite salty, could substitute for turkey or chicken. Also anything that you buy per-prepared that says healthy/good for you/other - double check the salt content, they have to get flavor from some place.
  • Take your own, tell people that you feel really bad about it but you've done your cheat meal this week - or just say you've had a bad Chinese in the past and you are a little wary of them. They shouldn't mind, if they do, they'll get over it. Edit: I had the same worries when I stopped drinking, people stare a bit then…
  • Drinking water and hot drinks are also recommended on here quite often. EDIT: Hang on your diary shows that you've been under by 200 (ish) calories a day for quite a lot and yesterday was just a handful over. What's the issue here? Did you not log them yet?
  • :noway: NOOOOOOOoooooooooooooo I was only 1 pound away from just being overweight, now I have read this article I have got even more obese. JK, I think this is a rose by any other name argument ... All this seems to be say is Overweight is the new obese (lets relabel it). Studies based on BMI showing health issues…
  • I'm not a salt fan but when needed I use sea salt. It's as bad (in excess) as table salt but a stronger flavour means you need less, dropping intake.
  • I guess you're American or other place with this sensible rule. UK it's really difficult to find this info, especially indi places.
  • well you could up your goal, then create a 'cheat meal' which is added every day apart from real one. You'd still show over on cheat night but solves daily calcs.
  • Steamed would seem like one with least added calories and keeping the goodness. Sushi for ultimate I would guess (until you stick the rest of it together). However, I find both of the above vile and an affront to food. Today had tapas which included a white fish in a light batter (wasn't tempura but maybe added soda water…
  • Out of interest, on a cruise is the food included in the price? If so could see peoples motivation wanting to get maximum value out ticket price.
  • Yes, I told her when I found out (weighed myself for first time in 10 years). I let her know because she does the shopping, cooking and I couldn't easily lose without her. She does try to encourage me but she doesn't always get it right, when I weighed myself first, she then hopped on the scale then and said ... "Oh I'm…
  • I just move on and don't try to play catchup or do anything different. I do find I'm a little more hungry the next day so eat more then as well. Equally if I happen to go nuts on the exercise I don't take it as an excuse to eat out (restaurants are may downfall) Give a little, take a little.
  • Nicotine is also a stimulate giving energy. Reduces stress for some (whilst stopping increases stress). Whilst stress may not (or may) increase weight, it means people are likely to opt for unhealthy salty fatty snacks - so care should be taken in this area.
