  • My wife, who I swear is anti-electronic anything (she has trouble with a quartz watch), has yet to cause her FitBit Ultra to fail. She lost one and I was able to replace it and thus far it has not stopped working. I don't know about the One (which replaced the Ultra) or the zip or, well any of the others. We also own an…
  • The right way to do this for food items is to first search and see if the correct entry is there, if so use it. If not, find the one that seems to be closest or the one without the "*" and if you are at the site (as opposed to the mobile app), then fix the entry. You are helping others when you do that. I would guess that…
  • Of course! Gracie and Jake have stockings, already have gifts under the tree and probably Santa will be delivering more gifts when he stops by to fill the stockings. I might add that there are presents under the tree for Mom & Dad from both Gracie & Jake. Although they do have some difficulty wrapping and writing is just…
  • Since it is in iPhone 5 you don't need any other navigation app. Other than the ones previously mentioned let me recommend a few and give you some advice. Set up the phone so you can lock it. If you don't like unlocking your phone all the time, set the time between having to enter the code to 4 hours (the max). As long as…
  • It is certainly possible, I lost 31 lbs in 9 weeks when I first started; however, I was starting at a pretty high weight. I have been doing this now since mid-May and as you can see from the ticker, the speed at which it comes off has slowed down. For me it is still coming off and that is what I really care about. Good…
  • Do not blindly trust the staff entered (no *) data. They too have made mistakes or they have not updated the entries. I have found too many of them incorrect in comparison to the USDA data to be comfortable. What I do is check every entry the first time I use it, staff or member entered against the USDA data. You can find…
  • No. I can only live my life, not hers. I loved her when she was thin, I loved her when she was not. I loved her when she smoked and I loved her when she quit. I guess if you have questions like this, you have bigger problems than your or your SO's lifestyle. Maybe it would better if you just moved on and looked for someone…
  • Let me give it a shot. Click to a new tab to see the whole picture.
  • @juiletflt You remind me a bit of Bitty Schram, played Sharona on the Monk TV series before she left.
  • Chevy - Best Ford - Worst Criteria, having owned both over the years. Ford = lots of shop time. Chevy = almost no shop time with equal abuse to both and not buying the economy models of either. I do like that Ford did not take a bailout, which is why I own Ford stock, but not their POS vehicles.
  • @pink34tink You remind me of a younger Frances McDormand ("Fargo" era).
  • Hmm, bumping for later
  • If you set it on active then you have to quit counting what you burn just working. You would then log only those actual "exercise" periods that are in addition to what you normally do.
  • Your story so far is exactly what I needed to see. I started my weight loss at 311 lbs in mid May and my initial target is 200 lbs. Granted I am older than you but looking at your before picture I see myself, what I want to see when I look in the mirror is your after picture. I'm working on it and it will happen. Great job!
  • Dump your "friend", as someone else said, that will be a big weight loss. Your daily goal BEFORE exercise is 1470, how do you think burning 1500 and only eating 1300 factors into that? It is a wonder you didn't collapse walking, much less at the gym.
  • Just a few other points addressing some comments made up to now: No, PS3 sucks, X-Box (especially with Kinect) rules. Wii is for ... well let's just say I don't like Wii. Not only do I remember black & white TV, but I remember when the screen was round. I remember when I was the TV remote: "Lou, get up and switch to…
  • You need to use the Tom Sawyer effect. Then your kid needs to use it with the neighbor kids. For those illiterate folks, white washing a fence is no fun, but if you can make it fun, everyone wants to do it. Get your kid out doing something to attract attention of the couch potatoes, you can start with him, throwing a ball…
  • @shoshi68 -- Indeed, Winston was a character. 8^) Another saying, which has been phrased various ways over the years but still holds a special place in my mind is: "I wish I could be the person my dog thinks I am."
  • lol Since your target is 10,000 steps a day, surely a couple hundred extra steps don't matter too much.
  • Well, we bought two, one for the wife and one for me. We are in MFP as two different setups. I am sedentary, she is lightly active (she is a nurse practitioner and I sit down all day). Her FB does not adjust her exercise as much as mine does. Indeed, she has been complaining that even "forcing" a sync nothing changes…

  • Well, I vote for supahstar71 (author of the above). 8^)
  • As stated previously, in contravention to all the "know it alls" this site seems to collect, it depends on your normal activity setting. If you are sedentary, anything you do that is not sitting on the couch or lying in bed is exercise, including walking in the parking lot, loading your car with groceries, going to the…
  • Although this was posted a few days ago, I just saw it. Your BMR is 1705, so for MFP to recommend 1260 calories, you must have told it you wanted to lose a lot per week. If you picked sedentary as a default activity level and took the default of a pound a week I would have expected to see something in the order 1400 to…
  • I'm not sure either. Your BMR is 1454 (23 yo 69" female), your allowance might be right depending on your stated activity level and what your weight loss goal is, but somehow I think 10 ~ 11 % below BMR is not all that unreasonable. Your BMI shows you to be in the normal healthy range so your stated goal of another 10…
  • Well, just to add to the global mix, not to mention the estrogen overload so far; hello from Texas, USA. 8^)
  • I was picking up my girlfriend at her dorm and she introduced me to "the new girl" from New Mexico, that was in September of 1968. The three of us seemed to go on a lot of double dates and the following summer my girlfriend went with her to New Mexico for the summer. My girlfriend called on my birthday (July) to let me…
  • Drinking the water by itself is not going to increase body fluid retention. It is the extra sodium (salt) in the Doritos & the coating on the fried chicken that tells your body to retain the fluid. No big deal normally, it will come out as the sodium level drops.
  • ^^^^ This is basically my outlook on this also, unless I do a lot of stuff. I still keep my "net" over 1200 and usually somewhere close to my original goal number (currently 1800). I mean, I list myself as sedentary, if I go out and work on the lawn & garden and burn up 900 calories, I have to eat some of that back or my…
