  • That's a great link thanks Verdenal - I'll read it tomorrow :) I'm doing the London2Brighton walk next year. At the moment I'm doing 3.5mph on treadmill about 5 times a week, 50 x leg curls extensions and presses once a week and a 1 hr aerobic legs and bums group workout once a week. Plus my usual gardening and walking…
  • Yes I have seen those too - I have much longer to prepare than the usual 15 week things I've seen - I'm doing the 10% thingy atm but am a bit unsure if what I am doing is right :)
  • Beautiful piccies - this is Scotland ...
  • Maybe its my British sensibilities but one bloke saying go have a w*** in the ladies section where I'm trying to workout seemed bad form and offensive to me (worker or no). I guess I'm just more conservative in nature. I was trying to show that it is possible that there are offensive people (subjective) in gyms (even if…
  • Helpful - thanks everyone. I'll get back to walking uphill instead.
  • Yeah he was - sorry didn't think. Duh.
  • That's true - just seemed wrong to me, I wouldn't do that if it were my business, I'd tell my staff off if he said that in front of customers. Maybe I'm just touchy as I said.
  • Ok this has been helpful I'll stop doing it - thankyou
  • My knee/leg locks if I get up the wrong way and slightly twist it - other than that no - walk a plenty without pain.
  • Yep I had an MRI about 1-2 years ago and was due to go into surgery but I moved areas so it all got put back as I'm now in a different NHS Trust - hence waiting list again..
  • Meniscus is torn. I'll try the weightless thing - thanks.
  • That's fair enough. I found it sexist and belittling to women (plus unprofessional - he should've known better. Maybe I'm just a bit more touchy ;)
  • Gym trainer - I had a physio yes but that's time gone. I'm on a waiting list to get it fixed. Physios here are NHS so we have to wait for a reassessment.
  • Oh....the trainer said it was ok too. I really have no idea tbh. This is very new to me.
  • It surprises you that I did? Why's that?
  • For all those who are thinking the OP is a liar... 3 weeks ago I had to put in a complaint at my gym because some bloke yelled across to his mate" If you're not gonna workout you may as well go the ladies section and play with your dingly". In front of me and my open mouthed sister. There are idiots everywhere.
  • She sounds like a nasty piece of work - better forgotten and ignored. Gratz on your lift :)
  • Don't most questions need more info though for gym workers etc? I don't know it's not my job. If someone says they want to become more muscular you would need to ask more? For more precise stuff? Or they want to get 'ripped'?
  • I'd never heard of this until you mentioned it - sounds great - I'll be making some of that
  • Oh yeah I also put a touch of sweet chilli sauce in mayo and mix it up - that's nice
  • I tried the french and it was okay - not like fresh though if that's what you are after. No biteto it if you know what I mean.
  • I use just a really nice balsamic on it's own or salad cream.... or pickle like Branston or picalilli - maybe it's the touch of sweetness I like....they are all pretty strong flavoured. Have you tried Newman's Own?
  • My favourite is gardening. I love it - all day outside digging and moving stuff about - it doesn't feel like you are doing exercise but it can be hard work and you get sore - much fun :)
  • I take a multivit with a good B12 content. I have a tendency to make a batch of something, eat that and then go into the next thing so my diet sometimes doesn't vary for 3 days. Just to cover my bases and give me that extra oomph that I sometimes lack.
  • I was on Topamax too for seizures. I have heard good reports that for some it does reduce appetite (not for me but hey). As others have said watch out for side effects it's a strong drug! It was a bad drug for me but I have read glowing reports from others - I wish you luck and report anything out of the ordinary to your…
  • Laid out what? - that I'm not big into science? You need to clarify rather than just giving me the attitude.
  • I went to a 3 day science festival this year to fill my nerdy boots - that big enough interest for you?
  • @lemurcat12 God no - the opposite. I presume (rightly or wrongly) the majority on here care a great deal about health. Isn't that one of the whole reasons for of the website? Have a look in the clean eater group - seriously. Some very relaxed people and very few politics. Have a quiet peek and see what you think :) I've…
  • @lemurcat12 1) Do I make assumptions about other people's diets? Generally I try not to because I'm still learning through life but most definitely yes when I see someone shopping in the supermarket surround by toddlers and a trolley full of frozen pizzas, chips and sweeties and nothing green on the table. It bothers me,…
  • I'll answer. I like the word - to me it encompasses what I try to achieve. I have very set ideas about what I personally consider to be clean foods (as you have said it's mainly wholefood and a traditional way of cooking from scratch). For me it is one word that just covers that. I don't claim to not eat processed food - I…
