  • @ OP, my suggestion for you would be the sedentary option and log the calories you do separately on the days you actually do the running. That way you are seeing how many calories you are burning from the run. @ newjojie, my suggestion for you would be to stay at lightly active, chasing kids is an activity that is hard to…
  • I'm 5'4" sometimes 5'4.5", depends on the doctor and the day. I have my before picture, and am working towards an after. This was very motivational to me. I want to look back on this later and see all those who are my height and see that there can be success for me too! Bump!

I don't…
  • 6/1: 20 minutes walking 6/2: 15 minutes eliptical 1405 minutes to go!
  • It's hard to find places that do the water displacement test because it is so technical. I have listed an explanation below. The next best is calipers, then the other machines, and scales. The most important thing to consider, is if you are using any method, and it tells you your body fat is _____%, just use that as a base…
  • So I messed up pretty bad today, I stayed at work an extra hour. When I left I was starving and brought home Taco Time for the family. Mexi Fries, and Soft Bean Burrito. If I hadn't had the Mexi Fries I wouldn't feel so guilty!!
  • Well put Chumz79!!
  • The first place I always notice a loss, is my waist line just above my belly button, then it spreads all over, but it seems when I gain it's all in my thighs and hips... I can only hope that someday I'll see a successful reversal in my hip area!
  • My newest solution is baby carrots, I can eat 2 servings of baby carrots, they're crunchy, just a little sweet, and I have them without any dips or sauces or anything, so the calories are low (70 total). I can take an hour to eat them just mindlessly and really not have to feel guilty! I usually try to hold out around 100…
  • This is me too. I started buying egg whites only for the pure protein. I usually cook 4 egg whites for breakfast, and sometimes to add a good amount of fat back I will only do 2 egg whites and 2 whole eggs. It just depends on how active I plan to be that day.
  • My doctor prescribed me a diet of 1300 calories based on my level of activity, and in that diet she told me that I should not ever go UNDER 100 grams of protein per day. This last week I have been eating between 115 and 130 g of protein and I feel great! It makes me want to start working out again, which means I can add…
  • INFP... I have done it a number of times and every once in a while I come up ISFJ, but there is no doubt about the I, the F, and the P
  • It couldn't hurt to see what the HRM comes up with. Keep in mind that if you wear it for 24 hours it could slip or stop tracking at any point during the day, so the best thing to do was take 3 full days of 24 hours I would think and average them out to get an idea of where you really are burning. That way, at least you…
  • I can get by eating just about any vegetable in the world, even if I don't like it... But I cannot eat beets. I hate them so much that even the smell is enough to make me lose my breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and everything in between. I cannot be in a house after they've been cooked, I cannot eat in a restaurant when they…
  • Best thing I can suggest based on what I have learned is that you should incorporate some activity. I have the same problem, if I base my numbers on the amount I eat only, I maintain no matter how much I consume or how little I consume. Without the activity level you will see the same number. See if you can find some low…
  • My personal reaction would have been that he recognized how much effort it took for this exercise. I work a desk job also, so I am always looking for ways to quickly make up for all the time I spend sitting. It is not that it is easy or that it is hard, (and quite honestly even people with desk jobs can be fit,) it is that…
  • Hi again! I'm bumping this up since no one had responded. Anyone care to take the time? Thanks!
  • Ok, so after reading all of these, I feel like I am way out of place! During the week of TOM, the first day I usually cannot get out of bed because even the best of Rx can’t relieve the pain, but days 2-6 I have more energy and motivation than any other time! I am not overly hungry, and I don’t seem to lose my apetite…
  • Two things I would suggest are a recumbent bike if you have access, and swimming. They are both low impact, and can be high calorie burners. I don't like recumbent bikes because I can never tell if I have it at the right length for me, but swimming is my new favorite choice for exercise. Just a couple ideas. I would like…
  • The reason for this is because MFP has already calculated your deficit in your initial daily calorie goal. You should eat the calories back if you are hungry since you are already below what you need to lose weight. If you aren't hungry, then don't eat them, and you will just get to your goal that much more quickly.
  • I am not sure I can do this... 1) My eyes 2) My hair 3) ............ That's as far as I'll get tonight. Boy do I miss the days when I could say I loved every part of my body!! Someday soon I'll be there again
  • I have to say I am a little disappointed in the way things are being said here. I can understand telling the truth, and I can understand personal opinions; however, the tone by some posters is mildly disturbing since we are all here to become successful in weight loss, health and physical fitness. To the original post, I…
  • I don't have any experience with the diet you guys are discussing, but in the way of exercise, I just wanted to ask if you are tracking and losing inches during all your workouts? If so, then the reason you are gaining the weight is because muscle weighs more that fat, so you can gain lbs, but still lose inches and pant…
  • Hi all, Just getting back into exercise after my knee injury so I'm starting small! Weekly Goal: 1500 claories Mon: 175 (walking 45 mins at appx 3.0 mph) Tues: calories burned (how they were burned) Wed: calories burned (how they were burned) Thur: calories burned (how they were burned) Fri: calories burned (how they were…
  • I think because I am young I still have a chance for my skin to bounce back, so I wouldn't want a tuck, plus I am deathly afraid of needles and knives. It just wouldn't be for me! I've been looking at laser lipo lately though. I think if I could lose 20 more lbs, I wouldn't feel guilty treating myself to laser lipo. Since…
  • I had an idea for you... a little after the fact. Maybe you should update your goals every time your work changes. So on the long swing you have, change your lifestyle to sedentary, and workout from there, and on work weeks you chould change your lifestyle to active. Then you are seeing how many calories you should be…
  • I'm sorry to say that I might not have had the same self restraint that you did!
  • The FDA has not decided on a daily value for sugar, this is because it does not differentiate between natural and refined sugars. I personally do not count sugars from produce. I noticed that MFP doesn't account for the value of the sugar that is coming from fruits and veggies in its RDA, so it makes it look bad even…
