  • Super advice! This encouraged me. THANKS!
  • One of the biggest helps to me has been to find foods that I enjoy, that fill me up, have high nutritional value and a low calorie count. I love my juicer. I make fresh vegetable/fruit juice at least once a day. I also love my blender. I make smoothies once a day as well. Newest favorite: 1 frozen banana, 2 T. cocoa…
  • I find that I have to plan in advance. So tonight it's Thai enchiladas with banana smoothies for dessert.
  • I do the same. I also find that since juicing and adding a pint or so of raw juice a day into my diet that my comfort food cravings have lessened. More nutrients seems to kill the need for fat and salt and sugar.
  • Hi Beth. I'm Beth as well. Log on, every day, if for nothing else then for some encouragement. Other than that the only advice I have is go easy on yourself. Changing your lifestyle is much harder than dropping weight. Consider every extra glass of water you drink, every full night of sleep you get, every small healthy…
  • I think this will be dinner tonight!
  • I'm doing the same thing! Only mine is scheduled the day before yours. If some of your runs have reached 10 miles I think you'll have no problem reaching the 13.whatever the 1/2 marathon is. What I've been told about training... 1. Get in 3-4 small runs a week (2-4 miles) 2. Do some cross training (something different and…
  • We like mashed sweet potatoes (more vitamins!). I mash with some of the reserved cooking liquid (or chicken broth), salt and garlic to taste. Sooooooo gooooooood. And pretty on the plate (all that color!) too.
  • My husband has colitis and has begun following the Maker's Diet (http://www.makers-diet.net/). His colitis is still giving him issues, but his overall health is improving. We've become probiotic junkies! Seems to help a bit. Good luck!

  • I have a couple of them. If I remember correctly you're supposed to cook something oily on them initially (I remember the instructions saying something about baking a roll of biscuits on them first. You know the kind you get in the refrigerated section of the grocery). The oil seeps into the porous stone and helps with the…
  • Ha-ha! Awesome!
  • Not brownies, but have used black beans (rinsed, then whirled in the blender with 3/4 of a can of water) in a chocolate cake mix (in place of the water, eggs, and oil called for) and it turned out great. Likewise used white beans in a vanilla cake mix.
  • I went cold turkey (can you say nausea inducing caffeine withdrawl headache?), but you could also try tapering off. Fill up on water instead of soda. Not much help, sorry. Good luck!
  • Thanks guys for the tips. Think Ill take the pooch out for a walk/jog this evening.
  • Cardio Trainer? Thanks for the head's up. Downloading the app now. I agree with starting small. The Couch to 5k plan is awesome, but any moving is good. I like running on a track. I started by running just one lap and then walking another 7-11 laps, then slowly working my way up to running all 12 laps (3 miles). For shoes…
  • I turn 40 this Saturday. Mother of 2 active boys and work 2 part time jobs (one in the food industry). MFP has been wonderful because I can track my calories! Even if I'm having an "on-the-go" day and eat fast food I can still keep an eye on the calorie and fat intake and for that- I'm extremely grateful.
  • Unsalted cashews. 100 calorie snack packs.
  • These look delish! Gonna make some soon!
  • Brussel sprouts with chopped onion coated in olive oil, kosher salt, and fresh pepper. Roasted in the oven at 350 till tender and golden. This is also good for zucchini, potatoes, carrots, bell peppers or a mixture. Corn on the cob. Don't even take it out the husk just chuck it in a 400 degree oven and cook for about a…
  • Oh my gosh! I never thought of that! ::leaves to peruse Netflix:: Thanks for the idea!
  • 27 pounds is a huge accomplishment! I'm soooo looking forward to being able to say the same. KEEP. IT. UP!
  • Bah! The "big girl" moniker. Hate it. As if being so labeled is at all kind. Really, that hasn't been a good thing for me since I was 5 years old. At a well padded 5'10" I prefer Amazon, thank you. ;) I'll help cheer you on Ruth!
  • Me too!
