  • Go out. Hang out. Have fun. Who says it has to turn into a serious relationship at this point? You just might end up with a great friend! Besides, I got married at 23 years old. My husband is 12 years older than me. There's nothing wrong with you being older than him.
  • I was sleeved in December. I know it's a different surgery, but the process and struggles are similar. Wanna be friends?
  • If money is an issue, talk to the meat manager and produce manager at your local grocery stores. I was able to find out when they mark down their meat and produce for rapid sale. I'm able to get my meat and vegetables for about 25% of what I would normally pay. I do have to shop about twice a week to use the produce before…
  • I've dealt with this myself. Mom, you know how much I love your cooking! Your (tamales, enchiladas, mole, etc.) are soooo good. Unfortunately, my doctor is very unhappy with my weight, and I'm having health problems because of it. I still want to eat your wonderful food, but please, please don't feel hurt if I don't eat as…
  • Be careful with sugar free candy. They are made with sugar alcohols, which can cause diarrhea. If you eat them, don't eat too much of them.
  • You wouldn't be hurting your kids. You'd be teaching them that people should be treated with respect and shouldn't stand for being treated like dirt. His behavior screams mental/emotional abuse. When your kids look at the way he behaves toward you, they are seeing how a man should treat a woman. Think about that for a…
  • If you treat people like *kitten* because of (. . . . . ) you are a bad person. Period.
  • How old is your baby? If your baby is nursing more while in a growth spurt, you'll require more calories too.
  • I budget calories for a sweet snack every evening. If I get a sweet craving during the day, I look forward to that treat all day. And I'm even losing weight!
  • Wow, so many unhappy people. . . . . I got married 17 years ago to a perfectly nice guy, and I was very much in love with him. Butterflies and all! And you know what? I'm still very much in love with him. We have two girls, a teen and a tween. We're busy and tired, and we are always on the run, but we still have…
  • I do the shopping and cooking, as well as cleanup. So I decide what we eat and how it's prepared. Nobody has to eat anything they don't want to. They just don't get anything else. Besides, it's rude to complain about what someone cooks for you with loving hands.
  • One of my favorite lunches is a piece of light Flat Out bread spread with a couple of tablespoons of hummus and filled with a variety of salad veggies and sometimes grilled chicken breast or fish. If I have a busy day where I won't have time for snacks, I add cheese for the staying power of protein. I can usually do it for…
  • I have a hump on the back of my neck from being on steroids for a health condition. This time around, the hump is noticeably smaller.
  • WHOOSH!!!!!! Isn't it wonderful?
  • There have been some awful, awful cases where infants have died from being fed plant milks or even flour mixed with water instead of breastmilk or formula. One mother didn't even want her baby to have breastmilk because human milk is still an animal product. Those parents are idiots. There's nothing wrong with kids eating…
  • I spray a Portobello mushroom with olive oil pam and sprinkle a little Tony Chachere's seasoning on it. I cook it in a frying pan and put it on bread with a little spicy mustard and a slice of cheese. Yum yum yum.
  • I don't know if there are open grocery stores where you are right now. I assume that you are working on doing adjustments for the hurricane. It's a horrible, grueling, and depressing job. East as well as you can, and do what you can to take care of yourself emotionally and physically. I'm a Katrina survivor, and I know.
  • Second hand shops are great, but right now, I'm living in leggings and Piko tops. Super comfortable, and I can lose a whole lot of weight before I have to buy more. They are really cute with boots. I have over 80 pounds to lose, and will be having WLS. I'll be losing the weight rapidly as a result, so I plan on stocking up…
  • Cheat meals or cheat days seem to throw a switch in my brain, and I'm unable to stop. I just can't do them. Everyone is different though, and if it works for you, go for it.
  • Strongly flavored foods. For me, vinegary foods work best. Pickles, pickled peppers, hot peppers, etc. Totally takes away my appetite.
  • Tamanu oil. You can order it online. Tamanu oil is extracted from an African nut. It is used to treat eczema, psoriasis, and acne. I use it to make soap and lotion, but you can rub it straight on the skin. It will soothe it and help it heal.
  • Just wait until you are obviously smaller than she is. Be prepared for a blowout. My mom was like that about my breastfeeding my children. I nursed, and she was always critical about it. I couldn't see why she couldn't support my choices, but now I think that she saw it as my being critical of her by making different…
  • I took care of my Mother-in-law after her stroke. Also, I have an 11 year old and a 14 year old. I also have some health challenges. I have crohn's disease, fibromyalgia, and degenerative joint disease. Feel free to add me if you want.
  • A week and a half out, you will still be very bloated and retaining fluids. You'll be very swollen from where the surgery was done. It usually takes a couple of weeks for the weight to start to come off. Give it a chance.
  • My diary is open, and I get 1360 calories. I do a pretty good job of staying full and don't often go over my calories. Add me if you want.
  • Oatmeal is also a great galactogogue (food that helps you produce milk). I find that oatmeal for breakfast with protein and fruit keeps me full longer and satisfies me. I add a tablespoon or so of brown sugar, chopped dried fruit, and cinnamon.
  • Mmmmm coffee.
  • Wow. You have a lot on your plate, and I'm not talking about what you're eating. You sound really depressed, and in your position, I would be too. If you think that's the case, speak to your doctor. He/she may be able to help you. I understand about rooting around in the fridge, even when you're not really hungry. I did it…
  • You just took the first step! Congratulations! What works is different for every individual, except for one thing. Eat fewer calories than you burn. MFP calculates that for you. What works for me is making sure I get protien with every meal, specifically lean meat. Beans are also good. I also need to have a moderate amount…
