Sure. Why not have more folks winning the same battle?

You CAN do it. I lost 31 on MFP in a year. Goofed off since January(turned 60) and gained 15 back. I am right back on it with the gym and cycling to work. I am still down 33 lbs from my worst days in 2001(262), but my best months are when I keep a daily journal. It keeps me on my toes. If breakfast and lunch put me near my…

No stationery bike, as of April 1st, we are back to cycling to work, 40 minutes twice a day.

I am doing, "No to all sugar products." for the next 40 days to see if I can make it a HABIT. There has got to be a way to say no to those products and live with fresh fruits as desserts or between meal snacks.

Never worked for me. I even added Magnesium. What works is not eating three hours before bed, six workouts a week, I stopped drinking coffee and read something boring for an hour at bed-time.

I think of the "16 lbs I have gained" since Thanksgiving and all the potlucks at my work, go for a walk, then devour the bag of spinach leaves and a grilled chicken breast sitting on my desk for breakfast. The donut is 20 lbs away, so MAYBE next year.

Split your resistance training up with cardio(walking or cycling) and you "can" go everyday. Sample of my Six Day routine: Warm up with a fast 5 minute walk up hill on the treadmill. Legs & core on Mon/Thurs. Lats, Biceps & Forearms on Tues/Fri. Pecs, Delts & Triceps on Wed/Sat. I can't jog after two left knee surgeries,…

This app(journaling) is how I keep it off. If I blew it by noon, my dinner is pretty spartan. The Iron Guru Vince Gironda stated, "body sculpting is 80% diet...if you don't have your diet down first, the rest is moot." Vince was WAY ahead of his time. Remember we all have a "six-pack" of abs muscles. I just chose to cover…

Don't give up. I was watching two DVD's on Adult ADD. I am sure my grown son and have it. When I get organized and practice good project management I GET THINGS DONE, even Math (and learning guitar). My father is a brilliant retired History professor. I KNOW he is ADD. He is so worried he will get the Alzheimer's his mom…

all the sugar and fats I have had since Halloween(my annual down fall). 30 lbs off in the last 18 months, now gained 10 back. ;-((

Not necessary, but it adds to your calories deficit. My workouts are 45 minutes with 30 second rests between sets. I am still losing, clothes looser and still gaining strength. My cycling and walking (30 minutes on the "non-lift" days) add endurance to what it takes for me to get enough O2 while flying through a whole body…

Splits can be fun. I use them to add something different to 47 years of lifting. I can't jog anymore so right now I cycle (or walk) for an hour for 2-3 days, then do a slow-strict-high rep whole body workout every 3-4 days. In eight weeks I will change it to something else. Consistency is as important as the routine. At…

You MUST not be eating your aerobics calories. Your loosing TOO FAST.

My kids are grown up and gone, but we still work full-time, have both Senior Mom's to deal with daily and the granddaughter two days a week. On the bad weeks I walk AND lift weights at work (45 minutes) on a early lunch break. On the good weeks I walk at lunch, drive to a gym twice a week and go for evening bike rides on…

restaurant gift card...he can take you.

Agree!

I switched to six days a week of 30 minutes of cycling (or walking) at early lunch, then lifting 15 minutes(one muscle a day). After 47 years in the gym, I LOVE it. I have the same problem with work, granddaughter, mother in law and now my mom in Skilled Nursing from last year's HUGE stroke. I was just NOT driving to my…

I am IN.

Great JOB.

Glad to see you here and working on it. My daughter had a tough time 20 months ago when her daughter was born, but now she is back on track and running 4 miles three times a week. Even us 59 year old "former" gym rats need support when the fridge is better looking than another drive to the gym. This is a great site for…

Great job!

611 over my limit. I was home with Bronchitis, so I crazed all day. Healthy foods, just way over calories for the day.
-
This a a GREAT group. You'll find lots of support here. Good luck meeting those goals. My two are 31 and 28, plus the 19 month old granddaughter.

I agree. I"ll have 2nds (or desert or a beer), one day a week, because I know if I deny all that stuff, one day soon I'll have three PBJs, 10 cookies or most of an apple pie. I am strict the other six days a week. Probably how I FINALLY lost the 30 lbs I've tried to loose for the last 30 years. LMBO!

Huge truth. When I used to swing in one direction, I was eating everything in sight. When I swung too far back I "lived" at the gym, ate like a bird and no one liked me. Now I only lift twice a week (love my routine), cycle the other five(only 30-60 minutes) and DO have a piece of birthday cake once and awhile. There CAN…

I needed one at 262 lbs in 1999, but I do not at 211. Be yourself.

We have always underfed our pets. Great Dane, Mastiff, Rottweiler and now a Black Lab. They live longer and have more energy.
-
Goal? 195 lbs. I am 6' 2" and down to 211 from last years 241. I was 262 in 1/1/2000. I have been lifting heavy for over 45 years. Family and friends see me no longer in XXL or XL clothes and say, "211 is enough. You look too thin." I was 205 in 1981 when I think I "lived" at the gym. At 195 I'll have my six-pack. LOL!

I am going to try this. I eat GREAT all week, then go WAY OVER on Friday.

NO! My wife of 32 years is a full-time surgical RN-BSN. We both work all day. We raised two great kids together. We BOTH did homework with them all through grade school. We share all the duties at home. The kids are gone(so we can afford the lawn-care guys and twice a month cleaning lady), but I make breakfast and lunches.…
