I would agree that in general, yes most people are the same. I do believe the difference in why things work for some and not others is varying daily activity level and THIS is what accounts for the snowflake syndrome. You have to dig deeper than age, height, gender. I absolutely believe in snowflakes.

Love it! I will definitely try! Im a fan of trail mix too but it can be hard to stop picking out the M&Ms and raisins and focus on the nuts! You're right though, measureing is a must with that stuff or it can go downhill fast!

I too was perplexed until I realized I wasn't really eating only 1200 calories a day. My problem was unlogged bites, licks, and tastes. Also, even though I was good most of the time, I realized my 2,000 a week cheat day (once a week) was totally derailing me--along with alcohol and sweets a little to often (even if they…

I agree with this. Might be a good time to examine how much you are eating. The results I get whether it be bulky or lean depends on the amount of food I eat --even when I stick to one exercise regimin (P90X)
-
That depends on what your goal is. If you want to loose weight, you can do it by staying under your calories, moderate exercise, and portion control. If you are trying to get ripped and cut that us where the foods make a huge difference (typically high protein and low carb).
-
It really depends how old you are. Many young and overweight people don't have high blood pressure...yet.
-
Take 2, 20 something females that are the same height and weight. Lets say both do P90X an hour a day and therefore classify themselves as "active". MFP will give them the same stats. Now what if one sits at a desk all day and the other works as a waitress? Do you think their stats should be the same? I believe this…

I have been doing P90X at my own pace for 4 years now. I don't follow the program to a T every week but here's what I do for maintenance and it seems to work. For the weight routines (shoulders & arms, legs & back, and chest & back) I go at my own pace. I don't even watch the videos anymore. I printed off the worksheets…

My point being...100 g of protein a day is not necessary for a woman to get toned. Been there without it. You?
-
Contrary to popular belief, women can get toned, cut, and gain a moderate amount of muscle without eating 100 grams of protein a day. At 36 (female), I did it on oatmeal, tons of veggies, and 1 chicken breast a day while lifting weights and doing cardio 3-4 times a week. I even ate brown sugar with my oats and full fat…

I'm pretty sure this is not her daily goal. So she wanted to have a guiltfree food day. Nothing wrong with enjoying food on occasion.

It could be all the water or gatorade that is making you cold. Even if you drink it a at room temperature (74 degrees) it is colder than your internal body temp (98.6 degrees) and it makes you cold. I drink a gallon of water a day and am perpetually freezing as a result. Also, wet and sweaty clothes in a cooling body dont…

I hide it from you but it is in plain sight for me. I am an experiement in the works and my diary is my data catalog.

I like to make deviled eggs with hummus! Just a little scoop in the center of a halved egg white and a dash of paprika! Amazing!
-
I think those are end of week totals?
-
I raid my co-workers candy jars or look for the bagels/donuts someone may have brought in. Sometimes I forget my lunch on purpose if I catch wind of a special celebration that day. :)
-
Even though many people say its pointless to use a HRM for the strength training exercises, I do it anyway and I record those calories under "cardiovascular exercise" vs "strength training" on MFP.
-
I like to crumble cookies n cream pop tarts on top of mint chocolate chip ice cream. It's my own little piece of heaven. :)

1. Robin Eggs (Huge Whoppers) 2. Cadbury Mini Eggs 3. Cadbury Creme Eggs 4. Any Peanut Butter Egg!! :D

It works great for me! Maintaining on 1200-1300 for 20 years now. Feel free to add my story to your scrap book.
-
That losing weight is the easy part. Life long maintenance is where it gets tricky.
-
1200 (at least 80% of the time) is the number that has kept me fit for many years.
-
Wishing you much success too! :D

Calculators for BMR and TDEE only dissect our magic weight loss numbers in terms of: Gender Height Weight Age Activity level (in the most generic terms) So basically they assume all 20 year-old, 5' 5", 130lb females, who sit at desk all need to eat roughly the same amount of calories to loose weight. You may have heard…

27 minutes of Insanity burned me only 250 cals last week according to my HRM and I can typically keep up with the people in the video. I also burn out about when they do too. :frown:

My metabolism is special and unique based on: 1. my activity level (sedentary for on average 22 hours/ day on most days) 2. exercise level (I strive for 5 hours of intense exercise a week but I might fall short some days) 3. food/liquid intake 4. age, weight, gender 5. stress level 6. genetic make-up 7. medical All of my…

That a girl! All good questions to ask!
-
You are absolutely correct. It's not luck but you did however have a thorough understanding of all the other factors at play in addition to your numbers. That is huge and an important part many well meaning fitness "advisor's" leave out.

It's a matter of a lot more than math. If it works for and you are where you want to be that is awesome however we all start and want to end up in different places and we all have individual barriers to overcome along the way. So please don't over simplify it for the masses. It's important to understand: 1. Where people…
