I'm so sorry for your loss. Depression and grief are big contributors to obesity, because overeating is a form of self-medication. My advice is: 1) Be kind to yourself; you are grieving. Don't talk to yourself in a way that you'd never talk to another person. 2) Deal with any depression that you have above and beyond…

Congratulations! I loved that crossover. The next one I had was having to move across the aisle to the 'misses' section of the store -- all the sizes with w after them were too big -- and I loved that one even more. Twenty one pounds and I'll be normal (in weight anyway :D) And ten pounds after that, I'll be at goal.

The pop tart cleanse is based on spurious pseudo-science and is being foisted on the gullible to make the masses fat and tractable so that the UN gun stealing alien hordes can steal our precious bodily fluids. The toaster strudel cleanse is the ONLY one that works.

MFP frequently overestimates calorie burn, so try eating back half of your exercise calories. I wouldn't drop below 1200 to make sure you can get your nutrients in. You have relatively little to lose, so it's going to go slower.

You don't need to avoid anything all the time, unless it's a 'trigger food' (ie you can't eat just one) or unless you have some underlying health problem. That being said, for maximum nutrition per calorie, eat dark colored veggies (whether dark orange like carrots, and yams, or dark red like beets, or dark green like kale…

I wish more restaurants would post their nutritional information on line. I always feel like a big dork asking for the 'nutritional menu'. At one local restaurant it's a freaking BINDER!

Thanks everyone! I'll make sure to give it a few weeks before I panic.

I definitely think it's selective fluid retention ('bloating is such a coarse term', she said primly, holding her teacup with her pinky out.) And my first guess would be that Aunt Flo is on her way.

We bought a cheap set of weights, with a curl bar instead of a regular bar, and the little squeeze clips to hold the weights on from a sporting goods store that was going out of business. We also bought a bench. The bench has attachments for curls, rows, and leg extensions, and it's great, especially for the price. But I…

Yes, spinach shrinks dramatically when cooked. Therefore your cup of cooked spinach contains a great many more spinach leaves than a cup of raw spinach.

When I was twenty, I went to work at burger king, and after a few weeks at the fry vat, couldn't face the thought of eating fries, onion rings, or anything like.

Wow, I didn't mean to kill your thread! XD

I'm pretty sure I did; the evening was a blur of sea salt caramels, and wine, and I woke up feeling puffy and hungover, but I still lost a pound this week, so it wasn't a total fail.

Yes it does. When you're depressed, the lens through which you're looking at yourself is distorted. You have a pathological critic in your head, bullying you. People have advised me over the years to use 'affirmation' type statements, but those never worked for me, it was too easy to disregard them as Stuart Smalley…

Funny, I didn't see 'lead paint chips', 'slimy green meat', 'your neighbor's wife', or 'things out of the cat box' anywhere on that list, and they are among the few actual things people need to STOP EATING RIGHT NOW Most other things are fine in moderation. And FYI if you post lists such as this, poorly supported by actual…

I am an olde farte, and I lean toward the classics, Led Zep "Immigrant Song", and "Rock and Roll", and Aerosmith's "Walk This Way," for instance. Peter Gabriel's "Solsbury Hill" is good too. I also like some more modern things like Muse, "Unnatural Selection", Rascal Flatt's "Life is a Highway", Beck "Timebomb" and Pink…

As long as you're burning more than you're taking in, you'll lose weight, even if what you're taking in is Twinkies. What most people find, however is that protein, and complex carbohydrates keep them feeling full longer, with fewer calories. So many people, myself included, find themselves edging toward fewer simple…

I had to up my calories too, because I was feeling run down and tired, and my workouts were stalling. Since I wanted to become stronger and more fit, not just lose weight, that wouldn't do. You're aiming for a sustainable, healthy lifestyle, not a limited time 'diet', so adjustments are going to be part of it. There is no…

Lube...you'll need lube for that.

I hope that's only from penetration on, and doesn't include foreplay.

Does it work if you use it right? See ticker below. That wasn't a surprise. What was a surprise was how enjoyable and sustainable learning a new lifestyle is. To avoid going over calories at dinner, limit your simple carbs (bread, potatoes, pasta), increase your lean protein (don't worry about going over protein) and…

I don't know if you're calorie cycling, but some of your days are really low. Also, I don't see where you're getting much in the way of iron or B12.

First thing I noticed in the before picture was your husband's amazing smile. First thing I noticed in the Christmas party after picture is that yours now matches it! Good job!

Javajavajavajavajavajavajava....I need my coffee. I used to drink it black, and only started putting milk in it when my kids were babies so that there wouldn't be any cups of scalding hot liquid around. I can take it with milk, or black, hot or iced, just can't stand it with sugar.

I have doubled checked mine with an HRM, and they are within 20%.

That's the truth. I'm glad I live in a place, and have a job, where eternal youth is not expected.
