Snatches are the hardest lift to get perfect. But honestly the key to all Oly lifts is flexibility. A strong, deep squat. A tight and straight mid-line. Learning to sit on your heels. All these make the lifts easier. So don't beat yourself up about it. The people around you all started off light and awkward. As long as you…

Men have the good fortune to have a prostate... so never pissed myself. But the squat farts... oh yes... the squat farts.

Yep happens when your Box has a rubber mat floor. Use an abmat or a yoga/gym mat. Even a folded towel will help. ...oooooor you could just CHALK DAT *kitten*!

Yep there's a bro-load of "fitness experts" who know all there is to know about CrossFit on that article... LOL

Branched-chain amino acids are essential nutrients that the body obtains from proteins found in food, especially meat, dairy products, and legumes. They include leucine, isoleucine, and valine. “Branched-chain” refers to the chemical structure of these amino acids. Athletes use branched-chain amino acids to improve…

I'm all over the bacon one and the changing the shoes twice... can't run in lifters yo!

Today is Day 100 of CrossFit for me!

This is true for the average person doing 3 days of CrossFit or any exercise routine really. However, if you are a hardcore 5-6 days/week Wodder then a 'balanced diet' isn't enough to support the output (unless you want to eat a TON of food). Personally, I supplement with multi-vitamins, a quality whey protein, and a…

On average? I usually run just shy of 500 calories... but I've been as low as 400 and as high as 650-700. It really depends on the WOD and the intensity I decide to go at. This is for regular CF WODs. On MetCons, anywhere between 700-900 calories.

"You're at the gym for an hour, but you'll change your shoes at least twice." ^^^ TRUTH ^^^

Lord I hate MSN... so here's the list... 25 signs you're addicted to CrossFit Most of your Facebook pictures involve a barbell and a snarl. The first thing you do when you wake up is look online to see if the WOD has been posted. Reading the word 'burpees' can ruin your entire day. You can't start an email, feed the dog or…

I tweaked my knee on a 400m run and it was swollen and insanely painful right below my knee cap. I thought I popped a tendon or ligament. I took regular doses of Ibuprofen and iced it constantly. I also took 2 full days off from WODs. Even with that I wasn't pain free for about 10 days. Sounds like you have a groin pull.…

Another sad reality is most globogyms don;t even have the correct CrossFit equipment. Some don't even allow ANY CF exercises at all. You may want to consider investing in your own small set of equipment and WOD in your garage. LOL

If you can't bench or OH press near your body weight then HSPU aren't in your future. Work on building strength and balance. The HSPU will come.

He's obviously an antisocial asshat so ignore him. CrossFit is about "You Against You". Focus on that. Keep your form solid and keep progressing. All the other crap comes later. Fast times, heavier weights, and 'the crossfit body" all come in time.

We track each classes scores on the board. You can spot the cheaters pretty quickly if you compare times and loads. Granted there are the Ninjas who are just beasts at WODs, but you know who they are by reputation. I'm talking about the people who post Filthy 50 times of less than 20 minutes when more experienced & fit…

I feel the clock is a two-edged sword. Yes it is essential in measuring progression, but at the same time I feel it is too much of a crutch for people who don't want to push themselves. Case in point, people who go really light on the weights just to get a 'fast time' on the board. What's the point? I can snatch an empty…

1. dehydration 2. high blood pressure 3. too much caffeine 4. too few carbs #2 requires a doctor visit, the rest can be tested easily by trial and error.

I shinned myself pretty bad and it has taken well over 2 months for the wound to heal. I still get a little 'block' from time to time. I went and got some slip-in soccer shin guards. You can get them at ****'s for like $10. I got them mainly to protect my wound during box jumps and deadlifts. It's amazing how much of the…

All classes are instructor-led. The coach will cover each movement of the WOD so you know what to do. CrossFit uses a combination of Olympic weight lifting movements combined with some gymnastic movements mixed in with cardio/plyometric exercises. The WOD changes daily. The WOD is the workout that everyone does for that…

1. Cheaper than therapy. I get more sessions with a gym membership for the same price. ;-) 2. The endorphin rush. 3. Sleep better. 4. Diabetes control. 5. More stamina for sex.

I only check the WOD on the site just to make sure I bring the correct body armor

Barring any medical issues, the equation is simple... If you eat at a deficit you should be losing weight. if you eat at a surplus then you will gain. So... you are most likely eating too many calories for your output. There's the off chance that you are not eating enough and your metabolism is shutting down. You gotta…

I go M-F @ 5am, then usually a second WOD (metcon) on Friday nights. Then the team WOD on Saturdays. Sunday I... Sleep For Time. I agree that the more you put into it the more you get out. 3x a week for you should be fine if you are marathon training.

A great mod is to use a jump box at 30". put your knees on top and get in a HSPU position then practice being inverted. Other than that, until your shoulders/chest are strong enough the best you can do is practice getting into the position. Gotta work on shoulder/chest strength.
