  • I got the diagnosis about a year ago, myself. There are a bunch of PCOS forums but not highly active from what I have noticed. Feel free to add me if you like :)
  • The ADA is a lot more forgiving than my OB & midwife! Ha! Helpful info, Erin :)
  • I'm having insulin problems (not diabetes or GD yet) but I need to be very careful. Milk, yogurt, fruit, beans, potatoes, grains, juices, breads... They are on a do not touch list for me. My OB basically told me I should be eating chicken & broccoli every night for dinner. Ugh. Who can do that?! According to my OB &…
  • sounds like you need one of those sidecar co-sleepers that attach to the side of your bed! i would rather have the baby in it's own room, but with the latest research showing a reduced risk of SIDS for babies who can at least hear mama breathing, i will be 'co-sleeping', too!
  • I made a post like this once & made some nice hippie friends on MFP. Looks like a good time to add some more :)
  • I have had some pressure lately, too, but it seems to be related to needing to pee (which is a OFTEN). Not exactly certain what it is since this is my first baby... Wish I could offer more help, but I'm certain my midwife would tell you to take it easy. I had a little scare early in this pregnancy & she put me on an herbal…
  • I'm planning a HB/water birth also. I feel like I have some things going against me, though. 'Advanced maternal age', overweight & first time mom. My midwife isn't concerned, though. I sure hope we all get what we are hoping for!
  • i've also have some nice results with swimming, but it might help to change up your swim routine or add some other kind of exercise.
  • Thanks girls! I've been using a regular pillow between my legs but it looks like I need to up the ante! I like the recommendation to exercise. It's something I've been avoiding a bit (miscarriage baggage) but have planned to pick up once I reach 16 weeks (this week!). I'm going to avoid medications unless it becomes a very…
  • i have the fitbitONE and love it. the sleep tracker has been especially helpful for me since i have trouble going to bed early enough to get a proper night's sleep. i can see where it might not be enough for an athlete, but for me, just trying to increase my daily movement and overall calorie burn, it has been invaluable.
  • I need to friend ya'll! BTW, for some of you who might feel that you are the only 'crunchy mama' around, my city has a huge yahoo group for 'attachment parenting' that is very active. You might be able to find something in your own communities to plug in to. Maybe a Meetup group or a Yahoo group? Carrie
  • @emily: i'm only going on gut feeling about human nature, here, but i think that a conventional doc who questions your birth plan will be even more likely to question that during the birth (or maybe be even more likely to be controlling of your birth because he is 'the expert'). it just seems that most of the negative…
  • I have to strongly disagree with this and encourage you to also watch your fruit sugars. I also have a huge sugar problem I am trying to kick - just like you it's more a problem of fruits (and also dairy). I do not have diabetes but a blood test revealed 'pre-diabetes'. My body is not processing sugar like it should be and…
  • you're not the only ones! join our group :) http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/1903-fit-fabulous-pregnant
  • i have the same problem sometimes, but i find with enough cooking time in the crock pot they turn out. seems like i have to soak for at least 24 hours. make sure you drain the water a couple times to get rid of some of the (lactic??) acid. (there is something undesirable). my tip would be to cook some beans up a couple…
  • Hey girls, I'm so excited I get to join this group (though apprehensive since I am coming off of a miscarriage. no worries, i'm doing well!) Anyhow, due mid-Sept. I'm nearly 35 and it will be my first. I was working on getting my weight down (but also TTC due to my age) so although I am not where I want to be, I'm at a…
  • supplements & herbs? it's possible that a deficiency of some kinds could be contributing to sleep problems & low metabolism. there are a bunch of herbs to help with metabolism and sleep.
  • I've heard that you can learn techniques for doing this. I bet a web search would lead straight to it. I think we can be lucid through part of our dreams and that is why it works...
  • I would try the herbal route first. My herbalist loves ashwagandha for improved sleep (among other benefits). I did a quick search & here's an interesting link: http://renegadehealth.com/blog/2012/09/03/herbs-to-help-fight-nightmares
  • I was a 10, sometimes 12 or 8 at 135lbs (and I'm 5'4"). jealous of all you girls with the waists!
  • Find about 30 or more friends (look for some folks with similar goals & interests). Log in EVERY day. Even if you don't want to or can't log food/exercise. By just logging in, you will help build the habit of checking in everyday. Post to friends updates and by supporting their successes and challenges, you will be…
  • i feel shame towards myself for having it. just got diagnosed and i'm pretty sure it's a result of years of being overweight. still, i'm open about it & hoping the diagnosis will help me shed the weight at last. it's kind of a 'which came first, the chicken or the egg' situation for me. i'm not too hard on myself but i…
  • well, maybe i've turned a corner... logged my calories, stayed under & took a walk. that's a huge improvement over the past week.
  • Oh, TROLLS. What took you so long? If anyone else legitimately want to be friends, please send me a friend request (and a note!). I'm going to ignore the board now that the trolls have come around.
  • totally. (sent you a request) i'm just looking for some people who think about food & the earth like i do! how else to describe it but 'hippie' ? ;)
  • Ha, ha. Yes, obviously I'm being a bit tongue-in-cheek. I think I could learn some things from some of the more 'crunchy' people so I have to find a way to find them! I'm crunchy on the inside but frumpy on the outside, Ha! Hopefully not for much longer.
  • *hand up* joining the group. the past few days have been as disastrous as they get!
  • Ugh. Do I need to say more? Well, in the spirit of full-disclosure, let me just say I'm failing. It's been an emotional and sleep-deprived few days (like, I'm missing a whole nights worth of sleep, at least). Cutting myself a little slack but NOT giving up.
