  • Change your socks!! Get a sock that is meant for running - which means NO WHITE TUBE SOCKS! Those things kill when running. I personally love smart wool brand, but there are other brands out there as well. They are more expensive than normal socks, but worth every penny. Good luck!
  • Wear clothes you are comfortable in, and that are good for a workout - no matter the style. I wear tighter bottoms, because I have chubby thighs and don't like to chafe. Do I look good in them? Probably not. Do I care? nope, because they are allowing me to workout. Make sure you have music you love. Then just go in and do…
  • Oh yes! The exact start time and duration is VERY important, but I still found it works better for me to use the FitBit app. Though I may try MFP to log activities again (it has been almost a year since I tried and had issues), that way my friends will know I am not slacking. ha ha
  • I love that it adds calories if I have walked a lot that day. I have my setting on MFP as sedentary, so I definitely appreciate the extra calories FitBit adds when I am more active. But if you don't want that, you can turn the setting off. I have learned that if I do an activity that is not walking, to log it on the FitBit…
  • "Ooh, I'll add it to my list!" (story of my life)
  • Hang in there!! I would refill and then talk to your dr about the weight gain. Going off meds cold turkey is not fun. Plus, if you have only been on the new pills for a couple of weeks, give your body some more time to adjust. As hard as it can be sometime, make sure you are getting exercise - outside, if possible. It…

  • I log my workouts using the Fitbit app. When I logged via MFP, it stopped adding my calories from Fitbit. I probably had my settings weird, but I have since just logged them all on the Fitbit app. It actually includes a list my activities from MFP, so I didn't have to create new activites for my HRM, which is nice. I also…
  • I have a Flex. I have been happy enough with it. It does its job well enough. My first band broke within a month of getting it, but Fitbit sent me a replacement, which is also starting to have the same problem. The battery life isn't great and it seems like it will be half charged and then die on me that night. It syncs…
  • I was the same way, but I would just force myself to eat within an hour of waking up. And now I am hungry when I wake up. I really like the plain greek yogurt from costco (Kirkland brand). I usually add some strawberry jam in it for flavor (it adds a lot of sugar, but I don't worry about that). Or I eat nut and seed bars.…

  • I actually love my FT4. I don't even notice the strap when I am wearing it (I do make sure it is tucked under my bra band though). The strap makes it so you don't have to stop and make an effort to get your HR as you do with just the watches. I have worn the band doing almost every type of exercise and never had a problem,…
  • OMG! I am the female you!!! I, too, am an engineer and have an excel spreadsheet graphing all those things (had it for 5.4 years) AND I totally use being an engineer as excuse :)
  • So far I am loving the new app. I think it looks clean and has the same ease of use. My only issue is it took me a minute to find the hidden menu where I could access my diary. I would rather have that on the main page than say the weekly stats, but that could just be me. (And I did manage to make it crash the first day,…
  • You have to come to the point that you don't give a *kitten* about what other people think. I was always self conscience at the gym, but then I realized that it didn't matter what other people thought - I was there for me and me alone. Get a good work-out mix and turn it up while you work out. It is amazing what good music…
  • Wacoal has an amazing sports bra!! (at Dillards) it is a little pricey but SO worth it!! I am a G/H and it works so well for me when I run (ok used to run, currently injured). Spend the money on a good bra! I didn't love the Moving Comfort (didn't work my size, may for you), hated the Enell (felt like I was being…
  • I feel like lifting (bench press, flies, etc) has helped me a little, but not as much as a good bra! Make sure you have a supportive bra for cardio so you aren't weakening your Cooper's ligament (the ligament that holds the girls up). Basic sports bras are only for girl's with A cups or for sleeping! Go get fitted for a…
  • craisins, raisins, or really any dried fruit. OR I just eat the candy. I figure if I deny myself for too long I will cave and then binge, so I might as well have a serving or less and be done with it.
  • Here are my measurements. Neck 14.25" Chest (bust) 43" Waist 34" Belly 39" (especially since I at a ton of pizza for lunch...) Hips 44.5" Body fat % according to my scale (this morning, but not again until the end) 33.3% Body fat % according to website 36.8%
  • Okay stupid question, people are posting for their chest. Is that the bust? Like the fullest part or are people measuring somewhere else?
  • Wow! This will be a hard challenge for me!! I may have to send my scale to my boyfriend's house for the month, but I am in! Thanks for organizing this :)
  • Shoes and stretching! My favorite stretches for shin splints are sitting on the ground with feet in front and flex and point. And not just a little, as far as you can. Then on your back with one leg bent and the other in the air (or resting on the knee of the bent leg) write the alphabet with your big toe, then switch. If…
  • I had your same concerns for my first sprint last year. It is amazing how energized I was throughout the event. 99% of my training were the individual events. Swimming is important, but I was surprised at how many people didn't actually seem to know how to swim. And because it is <10 minutes of your time, I don't think it…
  • Compression socks would do wonders! And you might try self-myofascial release (foam rolling) it has helped with my calves. Good luck!
  • Wow you are brave!! I am still old school and get the disks. I figure I need one vice since I don't have the internet or cable at home. I <3 my netflix! plus I have my queue maxed out (500), so I can't quit now!!
  • I made these last night! But I calculated the calories to be 115/ball, but my cookie scoop is slightly larger than a tablespoon. So yummy!
  • I weigh in every morning before I shower (so no clothes), and occasionally at night (just too see). But I only record my weight on Monday mornings. I have been doing that for almost 3 years, it is interesting to look at the trends.
  • My mom always says 2 cups in a pint, 2 pints in a quart, 4 quarts in a gallon And I trust her.
  • I have always heard that a treadmill helps you a long as well. I can run longer outside than on the dreadmill, but that is where I have always run, plus I don't get as bored. As for speed v distance, they (you know, the ominous "they") say not to increase your distance more than 10% a week. The reasoning is that it is less…
  • You look great, but that decision needs to be up to you. And my hip bones stick out when I am laying down, so I don't know if that is a good marker, as I still have 30lbs to go...
  • Today is my Maine Coon's birthday!! I love her!! Though I still say I am a dog person, she is still my favorite pet :)
  • I love Brooks! I got a pair and ran a 10k in them a week later with no problem, so comfy! I had Mizunos a year ago and HATED them. Which based on other comments, should tell you that it all depends on you :) Definitely check out a specialty store, they are usually helpful and I don't mind buying my shoes there, but mine is…
