water intake conversion

Please can sum one tell me how much water equals a cup in either litres, fluid ounces or pints. I have been logging 1 pint/500ml as 2 cups.

  A cup of water is 8 fluid ounces. You can find that type of information readily online.

  My mom always says
  
  2 cups in a pint, 2 pints in a quart, 4 quarts in a gallon
  
  And I trust her.
