I am mainly doing this challege for myself, but I do much better when others are involved - it keeps me honest this way. So, here is my challege...we will put the scale away for 1 MONTH (from May 11 to June 11). We will ONLY rely on the tape measurer and body fat % but NO SCALE. So if you are interested, take your measurements and calculate your body fat %. Some scales can calculate your body fat % but I use a website. We will check our measurements every week (on Thursdays) to see if there is a difference then after a month on June 11, we will weigh.
Remember that the scale only gives half the picture and can very easily lie where as the tape measure and body fat % is reliable. So, who is with me and ready to get lean???

i do it this way allllll the time hence the reason my ticker never moves. i am an official scale HATER but find great pleasure in seeing inches disappear & clothes fitting better. when i feel like there was a big enough loss to see the numbers drop 20+ lbs i'll get back on it.0

I'll do it! I need motivation to get away from the scale and measure my progress in other ways!0

Ok...for those that are joining - make sure to take your measurements and figure out your body fat % (I put the website in an earlier post). Lets lose inches and body fat together!!!0

Ok, I had a message about what do you do when you see a loss in inches/body fat. I am going to check mine once a week (every Thursday), and I will public post it here whether I lose anything, gain anything, or stay the same. Feel free to do the same (if you feel comfortable). If not, you can just post that you lost something or you can feel free to send it to me privately. It is up to you, but I will post mine publically - it helps me stay accountable that way. Good luck everyone0

I'm in. I actually decided this morning that I will weigh in once a month. Glad you started this.0

I'd like to participate too! I need to just learn to be happy with eating well and treating my body with respect through excersize etc.0

I'm in! I was thinking of avoiding the scale this month, so this is perfect really! I am going out of town tonight though, so I can't post my measurements until Sunday.0
-
Count me in, too! I have needed a really good reason to stop checking the scale more often than I should and this is the motivation I need!0
-
I like this idea too! I'll take my measurements tonight and put away that scale!0

Wow! This will be a hard challenge for me!! I may have to send my scale to my boyfriend's house for the month, but I am in!
Thanks for organizing this0 -
ok, I'm in. I don't have a scale, but I've measured myself and have figured my body fat... ugh! I go back to see my dr on 5/5/12, and I will weigh then, but in the meantime, I would love to participate in this!0

Yay Beth! I'm ready to start! I'm going to post weekly measurements as well, and my husband thinks this is an amazing idea! He knows how I am with the scale! So starting tomorrow I'll post all information! Yay!0

Ok here it goes starting measurements:
Neck = 13 in
Chest = 33 3/4 in
Waist = 33 1/2 in
Hips = 39 3/4 in
Right thigh = 22 1/2 in
Right arm = 10 1/2 in
Body fat % = 38.4%
*buries head at these numbers*0 -
Alright, this isn't particularly easy to do but here are my starting measurements...
Weight: 164
Neck: 13.25
Left Arm: 12.5
Right Arm: 12.5
Chest: 30.75
Waist: 28.25
Stomach: 31.25
Hips: 41
Left Thigh: 24.5
Right Thigh: 24.75
Body fat: 25%
My goal is to be 155 by June 20, so I may extend the challenge for myself past June 11 and see if I can make it to the 20th without stepping on the scale. My workout routine is Insanity and today I finished the first month of workouts. Recovery week then on to Month 2 which should really help shed this fat quickly!0 -
I'll jump in there. I have an addiction to the scale! I weigh several times a day. The good side of that is I understand how fickle water in the body is at different times of the day/week/month, so I'm not flustered when the scale goes up. But at the same time, I feel like I'm stuck in quicksand because I'm always watching the fluctuation and not seeing real motion losing.
Count me in!
