  • If its free, yes. If you bought it, then you get what you deserve.
  • After Christmas when my cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure was all bad and I was in a 36 waist jeans. Looked and felt horrible. Just decided enough...and I ain't going back!
  • Sigh. MODERATION. If you are eating an entire watermelon every day, probably not a good thing. If you have some fruit every day, probably a good thing. Its your body, do what you want. As for me, I eat anything...IN MODERATION. If this is going to be a lifestyle change for you vs a temporary diet, you will need to learn…
  • Go to YouTube and check out Gibert Gottfried reading 50 Shades...or Wil Ferrel and Zach Galifianakis! Truly funny.
  • Before I run for time (5K, etc), I warm up A LOT. I probably job a mile intermittantly prior to...gets the heart rate up and muscles loose. If I am just running for exercise, I don't stretch at all, just run at a comfortable pace until I start to sweat and loosen up. On a longer run, my first mile is usually much slower.…
  • Big fan of premier protein bars when you need the cals and the protein. Fills me up, along with a shake.
  • Pure protein - 30g Protein Snickers - 4g I eat protein bars for protein when I need a boost on that macro. Not for taste. Snickers are awesome though!!! Edit: Should be Premier Protein Bars.
  • I would opt for free weights. You can get a basic set at a used fitness equipment store or on any website that sells stuff (C List, etc, ) for fairly cheap. Start there. With a set of sumbells, you can get a pretty decent workout. Doesn't substitute for a gym though.
  • Just want to say its people like you who are my inspiration. I started this because I turned 50 and said "enough" but its my goal to be in the gym when I am in my 70's. Keep at it!
  • Oatmeal, 1/2 cup milk, buttload of blueberries and 1/2 buttload of raspberries. Mmmmmmmmmm.
  • This is the funny part for me. My tastes have changed. I have NO desire for a doughnut. If I wanted one, I would eat it. Just doesn't appeal to me. I am way in love with fruit, love veggies (these are both new to me). I don't cut out stuff...I eat what I want. Sometimes more, sometimes less. People seem to be unable to…
  • Don't watch it, don't care. I watch calories and protein. The sugar goal is a joke IMHO. Almost all of the literature I have read says eat fruit to your hearts content unless you have dietary restrictions. The health benefits of fruit far outweigh any perceived sugar excess. Serious bodybuilders probably watch their macros…
  • Dream Job: Aleady did it. Career USMC Actual Job: Production Manager. Its challenging, at least. Next Dream Job: Retired, riding motorcycle, horses, fishing and hunting.
  • I can see how Fitness and Papa John's goes hand in hand  Not to poke fun, just thought it was a bit ironic.
  • Actually kind of an interesting question. Is it a cultural taboo to be extremely vain, or is it universal throughout all cultures? Don't know. Congrats on your awesomeness.
  • Laugh!!! Sounds much better to me too. Thanks for the chuckle.
  • Seriously? You are worried about watermelon? Log it and forget it. The benefits from fruit far outweigh any "macro" reading. Eat as much as you want and enjoy. Unless you are diabetic or have some other dietary issues.
  • Congrats and well done! Awesome awesome.
  • Gene Wilder hands down.
  • That is a wonderful gift. Keep the cheesecake and send me the steaks! OH...and maybe one of the biggest smiles I have had today. Funny story! Thanks for sharing.

  • Holy smokes! Going through these books has reminded me of soooo many that are good. Ugh. Well, here goes...from the top of my head. The Last Lion - Biography of Winston Churchill Ender's Game (forgot about that...awesome book) Dresden Files. Of Mice and Men. The Stand - Probably the best single SK book The THree…
  • Everyone's different, but I take time off when I feel I need it. At 50, recovery is a quite a bit slower than when I was younger. Your body has to heal.
  • Small town in west central Minnesota, near Fargo. And for those from Holland, thats in the United States.
  • I gained 9 lbs one weekend doing the same. Don't sweat it. Stay off the scale for a few more days and exercise normally. It will all be gone.
  • Ah! Simple yes, but simple no. How about plateaus? If you are eating less and exercising, why does the weight not come of in a linear form? Best advice I ever got on here and it seems to be working for me is...eat smart, exercise, and the weight will come off. It may be slow, it may have plateau's, but it will come off.…
  • I have been married for 26 years. My opinion? Go fishing. Thats the only rule.
  • Sigh. Balance balance balance. Cardio is good, weight lifting is good. Finding the right balance with the two is up to each individual. Is this such a hard concept?
  • I was a Marine for 20 years. Its a brutally difficult life. Just be prepared for it and understand the ramifications. It is ENORMOUSLY difficult coming back from deployment for both spouses and Marines/sailors/soldiers. My personal opinion, wait. If he comes back and you feel the same way, knock yourself out.
  • Just my experience, but when I switched to weightlifting 5 weeks ago, my appetite went into overdrive. You may find that you are freaking starved. Or it may be me. My advice...lifting is wonderful and you can see some real body changes, although you may need to stay off the scale a bit to let your body adjust. But I would…
