Thanks for sharing. An inspiring read on a day when I need a little inspiration. :-)

I think people notice, but are sometimes afraid to comment for fear of offending. I've only recently (35-40 pound mark) had people openly comment, sometimes guardedly. I've done the same thing in the past - noticed someone looks smaller, but not positive and not wanting to give offence. Occasionally, I've recently…

You look gorgeous! Good for you!

Great work, you look awesome, and great message.

Weird. Getting the flu was the trigger for me losing the weight. I'd been sick for a number of days, couldn't keep anything down except broth, figured I had a head start on reducing my caloric intake. Forty pounds later .... Travel and going out seriously erodes my motivation. I love going out with my husband, having a…

Gah. Crying at work. Thanks for the post.

Cheat? Never. Treat? Sure. I had a grandmother who never again tasted ice cream after she was diagnosed with diabetes in her 30s. She could have had it, could've fit the occasional treat into her life, but she was proud of her ability to control herself completely. That was her. This is me. I love life and everything about…

Thanks so much for sharing your stories. Stories like yours - from people who have faced real adversity in their weight loss journey - makes me realize how shallow my excuses are. Good for you, and thanks again for providing inspiration for the rest of us.

I cannot wait to get to the treadmill at lunch today. I'm watching the season finale of Breaking Bad. Truly, that's how my cardio workout sessions have become my favourite times of the day. I've downloaded Season Two of Game of Thrones (which I've watched before, but ...) onto my iPhone and I only allow myself to watch my…

It's also available as an e-book. :-)

I've lost 35 pounds since I started here mid-November. I log everything I eat, exercise (treadmill, stationary bike - strength training with a trainer once my doctor signs off on it) for at least a half hour 5 times a week, and give myself some latitude on the weekends. I do eat out on weekends, but I research the…

I'm in.

For me, it's unrealistic to not have a free day or a meal. I typically loosen the calorie budget on the weekends, but still log all my food and exercise. If I know I have a treat day or a meal, I don't seem to miss my old favourites quite as much. If it works for you, do it.

53 here. And, after my daughter-in-law badgered me about eating too little, I finally upped my cals and started eating back excercise. I'm losing at nearly twice the rate I was when I was eating less and not eating my exercise back. I don't know if that's typical for an Old  or not, but I'm glad I risked finding out.

Lady, you look awesome! You seriously looked like you've lost half of where you were. Great work!!!!!!

Thanks James, looks scrumptious and I love cabbage soup (a sort of Mennonite German borscht my mom used to make). Also love the name but have to confess that I, too, was disappointed to discover it had nothing to do with zombies.

Here's a fun tip. Disney has something called Enchanted Call. You can order an automated call from one of several characters (most of the princesses, etc.) for $2.49. You get to enter in a few details for the recipient of the call, in our case our granddaughter, and choose a date and time for the call. We chose bedtime the…

A co-worker brought in a half dozen red velvet (homemade) iced cupcakes for me as a thank you today. I told her that, while I appreciated the sentiment, I'm a MFP nazi and I'll be eating my lovely strawberries, grapes and cheese for breakfast. She was respectful and gave the cupcakes to someone else. I find that if you…

I've had that weekend too and it'll come down. Just don't be sucked into the evil vortex of hopelessness.

LOL. I have this problem, too. I've been on the treadmill regularly (3-4 times per week) for more than 3 months and I'm still a little panicky about letting go.

Great ideas - love the nutritional yeast one especially.

Yay, you!!!!!!!!!!

I said no to 379 Snickers bars.

Yeah, I'm certain this is because I'm not as busy on weekends. So I analyzed my habits - eating and exercising - and have come up with a pattern that I think will work for me: 1. Keep my calories lower Monday - Thursday (1400); have a higher planned caloric intake (1600) on Friday, Saturday, Sunday 2. Workout 4-5 times a…

GoT is my addiction. I've read all five books twice, and watched every episode of the first two seasons at least six times. :blushing: I hope G.R.R.M. releases the next book this year, but he's notorious for running late. Although I liked some of the books better than others in this series, I loved them all. Like a…

Thanks Andy. We have our (nearly) three year-old granddaughter with us, so I'm sending the link to my daughter to mine for tips.
