Training for the Illinois Marathon. Shooting for a Boston qualifying run which is sub 3:25. As I continue to lose weight I want to get a sub 1:30 half in later this year.

Definitely repeat weeks if you have to. Repeat them multiple times if you have to. Just don't give up. The progams works. On the C25K website they tell you to repeat weeks if necessary. Fitness goals are a a journey not a race. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!

today is weight circuit training full upper body. Resting the legs for a trainer session on the bike tomorrow followed by a 7 mile run and a 14 mile run on Sunday.

Interesting conversation. I even emailed Polar once and asked them to explain why they say thier heart rate monitors correctly estimate calorie burn. I did get a reply with a bunch of scientific data that I really did not understand. I realize my HRM may not be accrurate but if it's on the low side then I am in the clear.…

Actually I'm 160 and my run will be under 8:00 per mile. Per my heart rate monitor I burn around 100 calories per mile so I will be burning around 900 calories. I have planned my day and eating around my run and want to fuel my body properly and also reap the caloric deficit of my exercise. Technically I could have fit…

True and I have done that buy my lunch today needed microwaved and I looked at White Castles menu and didn't see anything that I felt would fit into my nutritional goals today. When I get to maintenance mode it will be much easier to go out to eat and stay within my boundaries.

I tend to eat at my desk but I always wait until my co workers are at lunch so I don't offend them lol!
-
Yes it can be done! My wife lost over 30 pounds last year by better eating habits alone.

Our bodies are pretty efficient. You metabolism can and will slow down if your body thinks it's starving. For me if I plateau sometimes I will switch up to a maintenance phase for a few days or more and let my body know it's not starving. Worth a shot for you as long as you don't gain anything back.

fair enough MrM27 and well said. I said what I said in the heat of the moment. A couple of said friends have said on multiple occasions that they need to drop weight. I've even started more than one exercise program with one of them and he always gives up after a couple of weeks. And I do maintain hope that I can hopefully…

Thanks for all of the comments. It's clear the some get where I am coming from and some don't. I DO go out to eat with my friends occasionally and can make healthy choices. I just don't want to be pressured into going out to eat all the time and make compromises when I have explained myself. MrM27 thanks for your opinion…

I would agree with anyone who has said about the social aspect. I don't let my journey take all my time away from my friends. I routinely watch sporting events and movies with them. I do occasionally go to lunch with them. I just don't feel like I should be put on a guilt trip everytime I choose not to go to an unhealthy…

Yes, by the books I am still overweight. I have lost nearly 40 pounds in the last few years and 15 in the last three months. I am getting close to an acceptible range. I plan to sport a six pack by the end of summer and qualify for the Boston Marathon.
-
Correct. I never said I wasn't going out to eat with family and friends. My rant is just more about people who even though they are your friends don't seem to support you or your decisions. I hang out with these guys plenty besides going to lunch.

I love White Castle too. I celebrated my 50k finish last month with Reb Robin. I beleive there is a place for all foods in a diet at the appropriate time. My point is that these guys know I'm on a mission and continually seem to try to get me not adhere to my plan. They don't care about nutrition or exercise at all. It's…

I spend hours a week exercising but then again I'm aspiring to be an endurance athlete. I also think about it all the time. It's what I do. It's my health, my social time(usually run/ride with friends, my sanity and most of all my enjoyment. I'm currently eating at a deficit to drop some unwanted weight. I don't see a…

Awesome! Ran my first 50k last year. My tips would be just get your training miles and and have a race day nutrition plan. Good luck!
