  • Have switched from olive oil to coconut oil for frying and baking my own cakes. Still use olive oil in the oven and to put over pan-fried steaks or fish. Not sure about the benefits on the hair because I haven't got much of that left!
  • Just don't have fish and chips every day!!! As others have said, as long as overall you are in a calorie deficit you will lose weight. Of course the benefit of the fish is the protein and good fats. You could remove the batter but then getting fish from a chip shop and removing the batter does defeat the object! You could…
  • Congratulations Rosie you look great. Remember you still have a goal - maintaining your weight which can be very hard, if not harder than getting there in the first place. Just a reminder to our friends in the US/Canada and other parts of the world, in the UK we usually use stones and pounds or kg. 1 stone = 14 lb. 1kg =…
  • I don't juice but use my wonderful nutribullet to make a green drink which I have most days. Usually consists of kale and/or spinach plus avocado as the staples. Then it is carrot, cucumber, bell pepper or whatever is in the fridge. Always add freshly squeezed lime juice, ginger and for some protein some mixed seeds and…
  • I consider myself very fit at 53yrs old and have done many exercise routines including Insanity and now doing Athlean-X. However, in my gym the straps were hanging at the pull bar so I asked one of the instructors about them. She gave me a quick 15 minute demonstration and I thought "wow, that was tough....but great". For…
  • I have one "green" drink a day during the week when I wake up before I cycle to work. My drink consists of either kale or spinach plus whatever else is in the house. I do include some kind of fruit plus a handful of mixed seeds for protein. I also add lemon or lime juice and ginger. But the rest of the day I eat "normal"…
  • My lovely missus and me have done a lot of all inclusive holidays. For instance in 2013 we went to Crete. Breakfast for me was porridge every day (no sugar) and a banana covered with cinnamon. Then some kind of egg meal, coffee and water to drink. Lunch and dinner were equally good choices. Great gym in the hotel meant I…
  • Lots of other posts on MFP about nutribullet. I notice that your posting was from 7 Jan so hopefully you have got one now and using it regularly. I don't really keep a food diary so much now and as far as I am concerned it would be too fussy to include to note calories.
  • Over here in the UK it is £100 so that is about right as most prices are about £1 to US$1. Use mine every day and its great for green drinks. Unlike juicers you get everything, including the fibre (yes that is how we spell 'fibre' (fiber) over here!). Also made beetroot (beet) juice with lemon juice which is great.…
  • Spinach or Kale. Avocado. Cucumber. Grapes. Seeds (pumpkin etc). Lemon juice. That is my favourite.
  • I eat clean most of the time but I also like to have a treat now and again. Processed foods are out normally for instance but now and again (less then once per month) I will have bacon. I think the term 'clean eating' has become so confusing that nobody really knows what it means. Certainly, my wife and me cooked virtually…
  • August has been a nightmare :) for social occasions. Every single weekend in August I have drunk quite a bit as had planned social occasions. I mix with people who like to enjoy themselves. None of them really workout as much as I do (I am doing Insanity - last week this week!) I have even done my workout with a hangover…
  • Did your doctor explain why doing Insanity is doing you harm? How could he/she pin your troubles down to Insanity?
  • 53 at the beginning of October here. Feeling great.
  • I applaud anybody who tries Insanity. I am on day 47 and feeling great. There is definitely a difference in my shape! I thought I was quite fit beforehand but wow I was not expecting this; especially from day 36 onwards. Hopefully you can see my pic uploads and see the difference from my first pic on 3rd July and my latest…
  • That is why I paid the full price from the UK branch of Beachbody online because I know that I am getting the real deal. You didn't say where you purchased your copy from. I wouldn't trust the likes of ebay for something like that.
  • I have done a large omelette with about 12 eggs in it and had a bit at a time. Lasted 3 days if you put it in the fridge. Have a slice of wholemeal bread with it too. Do you like cottage cheese? Take a tub of that and have some of it with fruit (mixed berries?) and add some good cereals. Banana. That is my wake up food…
  • Butter now but as with vast swathes of people all over the world I fell for the marketing. But I started getting more into reading the labels and seeing what stuff with unpronouncable names margarine contained. Even so-called 'healthy' margarines. There is stuff in margarine that your body does not know what to do with so…
  • I am doing Insanity too and believe me the floor is drenched by the time I am doing the stretching after the warm up. I mostly do the work out at the gym that is kept quite cool but still by the end of the workout the floor has a puddle of liquid on it. Oh and I always wipe the floor clean with already used paper towels…
  • I get up at around 5am and am in the gym about 30 minutes later. So I have a glass of water and a banana.
  • I am 52 yrs old and on day 46. Go for it!
  • Not many calories in either really but green tea is supposed to be better as it contains anti-oxidants.
  • You are too young to be getting aches and pains because you are getting older! Your body is adapting to the exercise and it tells you so because you are hurting. That is not bad in itself unless the pain is really excrutiating. Like any exercise, you need to rest to recover so maybe take a day off. You seem to be walking…
  • Emma, today was day 44 of Insanity for me and there is definitely a difference in my body shape. I have lost 3% body fat and certainly fitter too. Now I remember day one and doing THAT fitness test. I was quite fit and thought I would sail through it. I didn't! The 2nd time I did it 13 days later was easier and the last…
  • To be honest I pay little attention to my sodium intake but it always seems to be lower than the recommended amount.
  • Go for it. Today was day 38 for me and I love it. The 2nd month really is a massive step-up and I have managed to go through all 3 workouts I have done so far in month 2. I do have to rest during the latter exercises but then so do the younger and fitter people on the DVDs as well. As for calories, I just put in the…
  • At least Wetherspoons' menus have the calories alongside each meal. Bloody agree with you how high they are though!
  • I think it depends on what you want to do with your life. My wife is 61 and is a UK10/12 (depending on whether clothes are from M & S or Primark!!!). She swims about 4 miles a week so is fit too. I personally do not go on weight from the scales because I am trying to lose body fat and gain muscle at the same time. So, you…
  • Never done it myself but maybe this will help http://scoobysworkshop.com/advanced-fat-loss-carb-cycling/
  • Do you do cardio in the gym? I see that you have problems with your knees so that may prevent you do so much? Some kind of high intensity is supposed to burn more calories than say 30 mins on the treadmill.
