  • I would have died in childbirth delivering my first son. It was bad enough WITH the help of medicine. Without those blood transfusions I would have bled to death and he would have died right along side me..err.. in me, I guess :( Sad topic is sad.
  • I suffer from chronic pain as well. I've found that walking and swimming are the absolute best (and easiest) exercises to get my heart pumping and body moving. They are gentle on the body because they are low impact (as long as you don't have too much pain in your legs!)
  • I would argue that it depends on your activity settings. I've put mine as lightly active, and if I work up a sweat while cleaning, I count it as exercise. If it's light (just dusting, doing dishes, etc.) I don't count it. Moving furniture and doing a heavy duty scrub? Yes, that will definitely burn some serious calories…
  • Yes, I definitely had the same problem! I've been doing yoga for about a year now and have made a TON of improvement! I still stumble and fall when I try a new pose, but it's considerably easier (and less embarrassing!) than when I first began. It gets better, but it takes a long time. You'll get there if you stick to it!…
  • I'd say it's primarily healthy reasons, but vanity does play a small roll. As I lose weight I feel more confident and sexy, and can fit into sexier clothes (which I like.) There is nothing attractive about loose skin however, an inevitable result of significant weight loss. But the health benefits, both physically and…
  • I only delete people if they are actively promoting bad diet advice to others on my news feed, like people who are "pro ED" or following a very strict diet with no evidence to back it up. As for people that are inactive, I don't delete. Everybody has to complete this journey in their own time - for some it's only a few…
  • Hey, I'm sending a FR :) I'm 29, also a mom of two kids. Like you I have a problem with depression and emotional eating. I lost 35lbs last year and managed to gain back 10. I'm trying to lose - again - and it's frustrating this time because my mood is so much worse. I find I have a really hard time finding the motivation…
  • Stand your ground and don't give in. If somebody is trying to "sabotage" your diet, don't let them. Only you can control what goes into your body and if a friend isn't willing to respect that, are they really your friend? Demand respect for yourself, and don't interact with people that want to bring you down. If she wants…
  • In my experience as a person with an anxiety disorder, stress can *definitely* affect your appetite. If you're constantly worried it's hard to think about food, and so you often eat less. The best thing to do is try calming exercises for your brain. Yoga is excellent for that.
  • I seem to lose fat proportionally. My cup size hasn't changed at all, even though I've lost 4 inches off my bust and underbust.
  • I bought a kickass pair of purple pants that I want to wear. They're a size too small but I can do them up. I rather not wear them until they fit comfortably (properly) so for now, they are my goal! I hope to be in them by May (giving myself lots of time.. lol)
  • I would say that for me, losing the excess weight and improving my fitness helped with my "normal" non flare moments. Those days where I wake up full of energy and ready to take on the world are becoming more common. I still flare, it still hurts, but I find it's easier to manage the anxiety about it because I know that…
  • Couples therapy is probably the cheapest option long term. You both need to learn how to deal with it and be happy in your own skin (no pun intended.)
  • Planning your meals really is the best way to make sure you meet your calorie and macro goals. That said, adding in a few extra nuts is always good. I like to snack on trail mix, which is FULL of nutritious calories, it is a very calorie dense food. I also like small cheese cubes, milk and avocados for extra fat.
  • 6 months in? And you're 20 years old? Girl you should run from this man ASAP! Find a man that will build you up no matter what shape you are. You deserve so much more than this! A good man will love you for who you are, will NOT say such negative things about your body and will support you in your decisions.
  • Wow, congrats on your current loss! That's awesome! Feel free to add me. I'm a friendly, positive person that loves to motivate :)
  • Feel free to add me! I have a couple of kids and have decided to make a lifestyle change as well. I believe that going slowly and surely is a much better (healthier) way of losing weight than any quick fixes. I eat at a smallish deficit and regularly exercise to keep myself within my goals. I'm bubbling with positivity…
  • Oh My God. Therapy sweetie, get your butt in there. It is NOT his job to make YOU feel good. YOU need to do that for yourself and, if you can't, find somebody who can teach you to (like a qualified counselor!) I mean.. wow. This just stinks of selfish entitlement. If you have a problem with your body image you need to fix…
  • I'm currently running a 3.5 game every second Wednesday. I wish I could play more often but between kids, work and life it's hard to get everybody together more often than that.
  • Great! Can you give some lessons to my inlaws?
  • I find it easy too. Not just simple, but easy. I have had no problems sticking to my diet and on the occasions where I can't (or don't want to) I have an easy time forgiving myself and getting back at it. I think that, for me, having my diet reduced to numbers helps a lot. I'm very good with numbers so to see a simple…
  • I have a glass of wine every night and it hasn't affected my weight loss.
  • I'm a SAHM with 2 boys and I put mine as "lightly active."
  • You need to see a therapist or a doctor, not ask for advice on an internet forum. You need to love yourself enough to care about your health. If you can't do that on your own, find help (there's no shame in that) and get better. Seriously, therapy. Trust me, it does wonders if you let it.
  • Anti-vaxxers need a quick kick in the pants. All that misinformation being spread around is actually causing harm. There have been an alarming number of outbreaks of these "eradicated" diseases that should not be occurring in a vaccinated population! Those that truly can not have a vaccine for medical reasons are at an…
  • I have the same problem. Two little boys that just want to play when I'm working out. I've started doing my workouts in the evening when my husband is home so he can keep them entertained while I do my own thing. As for Dora... oh god, can't help you there. My 3 year old is obsessed with her.
  • Have you been dieting the whole time? I find that if I don't take a break from the diet and eat at maintenance every couple of months, I get stuck in a weight loss plateau. Eating normally for a few weeks allows the body to reset itself. I find that after my diet break, I tend to drop 2 - 3 pounds within the first month of…
  • Congratulations!! You look great, very happy and healthy!
  • Flipping fantastic!!! Congratulations and good for you for sticking to it. It's not easy to defeat self hatred but it looks like you're well on your way to a healthier, happier you. How incredibly inspiring! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
