He knows mine, I know his. At the moment we're about the same weight.

I would take advice from an overweight person in a heart beat if I felt it was good advice. A person that is struggling with their own weight but knowledgeable in fitness and/or nutrition might have an easier time understanding my struggles, my mental health and my goals. A person who has been fit for most of their lives…

I like my flex most of the time, but I find that it does fall off more often than I'd like, especially if I'm doing a lot of lifting and it catches on something. I've lost it before, and was lucky enough that it was returned to the lost and found where I could reclaim it (several weeks later.) The band also broke after…

I said no to alcohol again, and today it was *really* tough.

My life will be the exact same. I will look different, but what's inside won't change. I've already made healthy changes. I've already decided to be more positive and happy, and to love my body. I already have confidence. My body will just be smaller and my disease easier to control.

Welcome *also waves from Edmonton* MFP has helped me in the past. I lost about 50lbs last time but, due to stress, managed to gain it all back again. Life is a journey, I'm sure you'll do great no matter how long it takes!

Binge eating is difficult. I've lived with it too, and it's not easy to beat. I find it's a constant battle, even when I'm successfully losing weight I still struggle to keep my feelings in check. Whenever I find myself wanting to binge, I need to ask myself why. Is it because I'm bored? Sad? Anxious? Angry? Is it just…

Binge eating, for those that struggle with it, is often a method of coping with negative thoughts and feelings like anxiety, sorrow, anger, etc. Many great suggestions have been made. The next time you binge, record in your food diary or somewhere else how you were feeling and what you were thinking. There are also many…

I find that frozen veggies are best if you put them into other dishes, like soups, casseroles, etc. I eat a lot of fresh veggies and just buy them every few days. Our family goes through produce quite quickly and I find I'm making a trip to the store every couple of days. No veggies go bad in my fridge! I don't think…

Lift! Lift! Lift! I actually just started New Rules of Lifting for Women and it's a good program. It's about 6 months long and starts you out slow so your body has time to adjust. Eat a lot of protein to help your muscles repair and get stronger. You might not lose weight, but you'll lose a lot of inches and you'll feel…

A cheap pizza on sale is about $5 where I live. For that amount I can buy a few cups of split peas, an onion, head of garlic, a couple of carrots and some potatoes. Throw all those ingredients into a slow cooker with whatever spices you currently have OR cook on low in a regular pot and you've got a delicious split pea…

I'm in Edmonton currently, previously from Vancouver Island, BC. Anybody can add me :) :) :)

Welcome back! I too lost a lot of weight in the past (around 50 lbs) but managed to gain most of it back. I also struggled with emotional eating, which for me was related to my stress at university and being unable to cope in a healthy way. I'm starting over again, with about 40lbs to lose.

When I lost weight the first time, my "pooch" or "belly hang" diminished considerably. It was still there, but it wasn't as bad and I came to just accept it. Now that it's full of fat again I'm not happy lol... I've heard that lifting can help it *a lot*

That is an amazing transformation!! Congratulations on the hard work!

I found that for me, scaling back the calories bit by bit - a hundred calories every few days - helps my body adjust to the lower calorie count without feeling hungry all the time. I've also noticed that after a week of eating at a deficit, that hungry feeling subsides as my body gets used to the lower calorie intake.…

Pizza and cookies are the worst for me. I had to stop buying them, because I can't stop at a single serving.

lol... 3 days sober... better than nothing! B)

Ohhh everybody add me! I love Star Wars (I mean I LOVE it I even named my kid after one of their EU characters..) I'm also a fan of Star Trek, Stargate SG1, and other fantastic sci fi shows. I'm gone back to school to finish my degree in atmospheric science and physics. I'm a geek through and through. I also play SWTOR in…

lol, what the heck is bothering you? Weight gain from your cycle is caused by hormones. You said it wasn't a hormonal issue. Are you even reading your own posts? Of course hormones fluctuate during the entire cycle, but the surge of estrogen that starts your period can definitely cause a surge in water retention. It's not…
-
Uh.. your period is controlled by your hormones.. so yes, it is a hormonal fluctuation.
-
Huh? My body is most certainly different from yours. If you don't gain much during your cycle, that's just your own body doing it's own thing. Just like my gain - and loss- is my own thing.
-
It's not luck, it's biology. And yes, I completely lose the 6 lbs. It is definitely water weight (it comes with the bloat!)
-
Well, lucky you. Many women (including myself) experience a lot of water retention around that time. My gain is around 6 lbs. It happens *every* month and is definitely not a "myth" or "excuse" (especially since it usually goes back down 3 days after my cycles starts..)

This lady Jessica Smith Has a wonderful youtube channel with a ton of free videos that are very good for apartment or small space workouts. Many are low impact (no jumping around) but still work up a great sweat.

Well to me, the Holidays are all about indulgence. I try to make sure I eat very well and within a deficit for at least a week or two ahead of time. When the day of celebration comes, I go all out. I feel that it's OK to save a cheat day for Christmas (or whatever you celebrate.) I don't intend on holding back.. it's the…

Well, in case she's reading this. Yes, it's time to stop. Perhaps seeking the help of a doctor or therapist would be a good idea. There's nothing to be ashamed of in seeking help, it shows a mark of courage and strength. Be kind to yourself and I hope you figure things out <3

What are you studying? I've returned to University to finish my degree in Atmospheric Science.
