Agree with all of the above posters about protein and fat. I quit MFP a couple of times when I was eating high-carb, mostly vegetarian because I was just frickin' starving on 1400-1600 cals. When I switched over to eating more like 35% protein, 30% fat, 35% carbs, I was seriously STUFFED on the same number of calories. So…

Holy moly, that is a big difference for just 20 lbs! Way to go! Hopefully you mean goal and not cow, lol, otherwise you need to be a little nicer to yourself! ;)

I'm 5'6" and 125 and I eat around 2000 calories to maintain! 1650-1700 when I was losing (started at 141). I'm pretty active, lots of lifting, running, and yoga.
-
I don't see any weight change with TOM!
-
I would just pick something in the middle, like 5 days maybe, and then see if you're losing after a couple of week. If not, change it to 3 or 4. If you're losing too fast or feeling way too hungry, change it to 6.
-
Certainly doesn't look like you're eating enough for your activity level. Plus I would die if I worked out for two hours and only slept for 6.5, but people's sleep needs vary.

Lifting ladies... I have a really insanely specific question. I really, REALLY want to be able to do a pullup, and I am verrry far from that goal. (Last time I tried I couldn't even do an unassisted negative, ugh.) I've been lifting about 6 months, at first just doing random things, then starting NROL4W. I have made a lot…

I'm definitely a novice, but my husband and I were talking about funny starting-to-lift stories tonight, so I thought I'd share. The first time I ever did deadlifts, I took the bar down from the squat rack and did my deadlifts, lah dee dah--and then could NOT get the bar back up to the squat rack. Just the bar. No weight…

People have given lots of great advice about cooking for kids, so I'm going to focus on the not knowing how/what to cook part of your post. I would suggest Skinnytaste as a great resource for tons and tons of family-friendly healthy recipes that are also totally delicious. She has an enormous comprehensive website and also…

I generally quite like fitness videos (blogilates is my girl), but when I'm not feeling them, I'll look up a HIIT routine and do it while watching Netflix. I like the bodyweight HIIT routines from the purely twins.

Haha I definitely have as much or more, and I'm also a casual runner. Just off the top of my head: 3 mid-calf tights, 5 long tights, 3 long-sleeved base layer shirts, 5 or 6 quarter-zips, probably... 10 tank tops, 2 short-sleeved tops, 4 pairs of shorts, probably 15 or more pairs of socks (though no really nice socks,…

Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice is my jam, big time.

Have you seen a doctor? Sounds like GERD, which can lead to nasty consequences like burning a ring of scar tissue into your esophagus if not treated.
-
I am 5'6" (probably more like 5'5.75"), and at 141, my waist was about the size yours is now. 26" waist is my goal too! I'm currently at 125 and at 27"--am hoping to get the rest of the way by doing some recomp and maybe losing 2-3 more lbs. So... long story short, given that my waist was the size yours is now at about…

I don't use yoga as my primary form of training, but I do yoga virtually every day for stretching and just general wellness. I get so much stress relief and relaxation from yoga! I also use it for core work and balance. Pilates is a fun way to burn calories for me sometimes, but that's about it. Not great for building…

I ran 10 miles today! Previous longest run was just under 9. I can't believe I used to hate running!!
-
Instead of sour cream in tacos, base for a smoothie, in scrambled eggs--some of my faves!
-
Congrats!! Wow!! How long did you train for the TM? What made you feel like you were ready to tackle that beast? I would love to do one some day! Also I love that every cookie picture is a chocolate chip cookie. Y'all know where it's at.
-
Opinions on this vary. Most people will eat back a portion of their exercise calories (50% is common) but not all of the exercise calories in case MFP is overestimating calories burned.
-
I love GUs! I have one approximately every 45 minutes while running (so if you're running 11-12 minute miles, that sounds like about every 4 miles!). I don't eat a ton of carbs in my daily diet, so I definitely feel that I need to consume energy gels with this frequency. It's very individual. Don't know why everyone on…

Greek yogurt!
-
I am a former non-egg eater (having in just the last month or two started trying to make myself eat eggs... they're okay for me scrambled really soft with parmesan cheese on them). I eat plain Greek yogurt nearly every day for breakfast! Perfect for lots of protein. I'll also make a tofu scramble sometimes with spinach,…

Hahaha that is fantastic! Looks like something out of the rain forest.
-
Unfortunately, it sounds like that advice is not really backed by medical science. Since you are on the diet for health reasons, why don't you try slowly dialing back on the calories until you start seeing some small losses?
-
This is also a good idea, but what I really want to say is OMG your username! I used to have a kitty called Sydney Bristow lol.
-
This is genius!!
-
Ha, that makes sense. Slightly depressing: allieallieoxenfree ran 8.2 miles at 5mph pace and burned 1 calorie. ;) But that is a good idea, thanks for the tip!
-
Prepared means that they've added in the necessary ingredients for you, so no extra counting necessary. Obviously if you were to use different ingredients than what they recommend, it would change the caloric value--in that case, you could add up the "mix" values and whatever you put in.
-
Oh well, no big deal. Thanks for the info! I tried adding an exercise and setting the calorie burn to 0, but it wouldn't let me. No big deal, I've got RunKeeper too. I do use TDEE already, I just thought ndj was saying that you could "switch" MFP over to TDEE somehow.
-
I can switch MFP to TDEE? How do you do that??
