  • I'm late! Super-busy weekend...and this week's turning out the same: SW: 237.6 LWW: 225.6 CW: 225 (-.6 this week, -12.6 total) GW: 218.6 So here's some hopeful advice to anyone who's ever bummed cos their weigh-in shows little-to-no loss. My Sunday weigh-in could have been discouraging if I had been weighing in weekly…
  • I eat when I'm hungry until I'm full. If I overindulge in something that's really caloric (such as the pint of froyo last Wednesday), I just have to spend another 30-60 minutes a night walking until the debt is paid off. For me, a little more exercise is much more preferable to starving myself.
  • I'll do it!
  • Feel free to add me as well!
  • I'm already insane. Thanks anyways.
  • I'll be interested to see how successful this game will be. Bethesda can't even get the bugs out of its single-player games years after launch. How on earth will they be able to make a working MMO?
  • Do you eat fish? I cooked up some tilapia fillets last week with dill, onion, lemon slices, and a bit of olive oil, and it was super-low cal and delicious (but I love fish!) Sided it up with some pan-seared asparagus w/red pepper flakes, some steamed kale, and half a baked sweet potato w/sour cream.
  • Just out of curiosity: do you toss your dressing in or just pour it on top? I can't stand poured-on dressing...the first 1/3 of the salad is just blanketed with flavorful ooze, and then you end up eating plain greens for the last 1/3. Pour a bit of dressing in the bottom of a bowl and mix the salad in it w/your hands until…
  • "Health food" is so vague. Doesn't most every food have the potential to be healthy? Even the "bad stuff" is good for you in moderation...
  • I weigh myself daily, first thing in the a.m., after I pee. I really don't think weekly weighing is a good idea, because it can get you down if you end up weighing in at the wrong points (a dip for one week and a peak for the next.) By doing it every day, you can see the overall trend (and be reassured with your "gain"…
  • Added! Feel free to add me as well, if anybody is looking to beef up their friendlist.
  • I'm not sure about you, but I tend to go on big eating raids when my anxiety begins to peak. I've noticed two triggers: 1) procrastinating some big project or task, and the due date is impending (the next day?) and 2) staying up too late. For some reason, if I run myself ragged and refuse to go to bed (a bad habit I'm…
  • Sounds kind of gimicky to me. I'd just go for a 15-minute walk every evening instead. It's guaranteed to burn calories, and it's much less traumatic, thermally speaking. :)
  • Yeah, I have the same complaint. The food database is a little too democratic--for general foods (such as fruits/veg) there are usually 10 different versions of the same thing, all with different numbers. They need to get someone to vet the entries and make sure there's only one entry per item, and that it's dead-on…
  • I've learned to like lots of foods I previously didn't like. The only thing I can suggest is to just make yourself eat a bit every opportunity you can get. After your taste buds become inured to the flavor, they sometimes learn to like it. As for avocados, I used one to make some homemade tomato basil soup a little…
  • SW: 237.6 LWW: 228.8 CW: 225.6 (-3.2 this week, -12 total) GW: 218.6 Still on track. There were a few contingencies this week, but nothing I couldn't deal with. One was a delicious pint of frozen yogurt on Wednesday night, but it was well worth the three days of extra exercise to pay it off! The other was a winter storm…
  • Just pay it off over time, like any other debt. Figure out how many calories over you went the whole time, and exercise a little extra every day until you're back to even. You'll be right back on track in just a week or two... :)
  • How exciting - congrats!
  • SW: 237.6 LWW: 229 CW: 228.8 (-0.2 this week, -8.8 total) GW: 218.6 I thought I didn't lose much this week, but I think I just weighed in during a dip last week (-5 lbs last last week) and it's evening out this weigh-in. This week's numbers reflect my average loss a little more accurately; I'm still exceeding my goal of…
  • I chug the diet soda. Have been for years. Just started doing the weight loss thing 2 months ago, and it hasn't seem to hindered me at all. I say drink away...
  • I think the biggest thing for me is to have lots of tasty, low-cal stuff around the house to eat when I'm in the mood to eat. There are times that I eat like a madman because my body's craving energy so much, either from exercise or missing lunch or both, and I tend to overdo it at these times. If I had pre-prepared…
  • Nice job everyone! SW: 237.6 LW: 234.0 CW: 229.0 (-5 this week, -8.6 total) The hiking is ramping up a lot sooner than expected. Lots of nice weather in Oregon, plus a friend of mine is suddenly as enthusiastic about it as I am. We plugged about 5 miles yesterday in the mountains nearby.
  • You might have just happened to weigh yourself at one of your mini-peaks. I wouldn't fret it. I do my my weight every day, and the graph looks like a trending stock market chart: some days it spikes up, some days it spikes down, but if you were to draw a single trending line through the average, the trend is going down.…

  • Hey there! Good to see this thing firing up! I just added myself -- I'll get my measurements tonight. (I only got my weight this a.m.) Good luck, everyone!

  • Ditto: I followed them for a while before launch. Found them after I got Terraria for the X360 (which I fell in love with.)

  • Skittle: if you're looking to add friends on Fitbit.com, my email is fodaoarado@gmail.com. :) It's kind of fun to see your steps progress vs other users...also adds a bit of motivation.
  • My own NSV: After a bit of work yesterday in a neighboring town, I managed to talk a friend of mine into another hike: 5.5 miles to the top of a small butte just outside of town, for a total elevation gain of 1200-ish feet. I lugged up all my photo equipment (since I had it with me...weighed it when I got home, and it…
  • Stuff like this is the toughest for me. Not Starbucks, per se but convenient stores. A bad habit I developed about 10 years ago, while flagging for a construction crew, was stopping at convenient stores all the time. You couldn't help it--you shared a truck with 3 other flaggers, and the driver would invariably stop at the…
  • SW: 237.6 CW: 234.0 (-1.4 this week, -3.6 total) I'm chugging right along. Hitting my -1.5/week and then a little to spare. For 6 of the 7 last days, I managed to trek 2+ miles around town for my daily active exercise -- racked up 42 miles on the Fitbit this week. To start prepping for backpacking (the motivation for all…
  • The Jawbone Up is very comparable to the Fitbit. It has a lot of the same features, its own tracking website, and integration with MFP. Only difference is that it doesn't have a display like the Fitbit (only a sun/moon symbol.) If you get one, I would say it's worth the extra $30US or so to get the Up24. Plugging the…
