Maintenance is tough, no doubt about it. For me, I have to plan and plan and plan and log. Plan a few major dinners for the week, plan what to buy, buy it all, and execute. I eat almost the same breakfast weekdays, which I don't mind and never feel in a rut. Plan for lunches: bring to work 3-4 days and buy out 1-2 days at…

You should talk to your doctor about how much and what kinds of carbs to eat.

Back in the day, 40 was old as life expectancy was in the 50's. Nowadays, life expectancy is near 80 with many living in to 90's and breaking 100. Turing 40 last year for me was a nonevent, though my mom had a hard time admitting she had two kids in their 40's! Age is just a number.

Depends on what kind of sick. Just a head cold - pretty normal (sometimes more warm foods rather than breakfast bars). Flu - sip water, maybe plain soup, white bread.... really take it easy.

I don't plan for a cheat day. Life sometimes throws food opportunities at me, that I carefully consider and decide on. Occasionally at work we celebrate birthdays with cake; if it's got the nice sugary frosting I have a piece (or just scoop up the frosting stuck on the board). If I go to the movies, I eat an entire small…

That's awesome!! It seems not so much of a small step, but a giant milestone reached. Keep it up. Sounds like you have a great plan to make small changes that will have large, long-term effects!

You've got to allow your self one day now and again to enjoy. I don't consider those "bad" days just "life" days .Log it all, then get back to "normal" the next day.
-
Add me. I log every day and am trying to be more involved in supporting my friends.

OMG these responses are hysterical. I don't know which is the funniest.

Start with small changes depending on what you eat currently. Like if you drink regular soda, switch to diet or sparkling water. If you eat white rice/pasta, switch to brown rice / wheat pasta (or do half and half for a transition). If you eat a lot of processed snack, replace a snack a week with something healthier. Good…

I'm Kristi, turned 40 a few months back, am 5' 3", and currently 152. My highest weight had been over 190 after a baby. Joined WW years later at 180 lbs and got down to goal weight of 140. I didn't like WW maintenance and the meeting schedule wasn't fitting my schedule. A friend introduced me to MFP and I used it for…

I thought when you created a recipe, there was an option to add it to the public database. I've done that we a few of mine, but my hubby can't find them even when prefaced with my name. Oh well.

Bump. I want to try this.

I'm a mom and got my son a baby doll when he was little. it was small and plain and only had a diaper and bib on, and came with a little bottle. I didn't want to stereotype in in to "boy" toys. If he's asking for it, get it. it really is harmess and wants to mimic what others are doing. just be prepared he may try to…

This is so what I needed right now. Thanks everyone for sharing. TODAY I'll stay on track because my recent choices are making me tired, and I don't like feeling tired.

Me! I successfully lost 45 pounds on WW and didn't want to keep paying for the program once I was maintaining. A friend turned me on to MFP. I did both in parallel for a while and eventually dropped WW. I maintained for a good long time, then over the last year have lost some will power and gained 10 again. So now trying…

you can add me!

I've lost my weight and use MFP to maintain (and lose when I get a too far out of control once in a while like now). I like to think I'm real. Friend me if you want.

Salad dressings and barbeque sauce (or any meat sauce/marinade for that matter). I LIKE dry salad, which means I never had to worry about measuring dressings.

You have taking the first GIANT step by saying it all out loud. You can do it. Keep at it every day, and if you have a "bad day" chalk it up to only that one bad day. Replan and get back with it as soon as you can - the next meal! I have faith in you!

Some of you metioned grilling veggies/potatoes. How you do grill them / recipies - oil, seasonings, wrap in foil or no, grill basket, temp, time? How do you time it if you're also grilling meats?
-
Welcome! You can add me as a MFP friend

Rice and pasta. A half cup just doens't do it for me. I need a whole one, and measure it out to be sure I don't "heap".

My docotor told me it doesn't matter what time, to just get the exercise. At first you may find it hard to sleep (some have no problems like me), and after a while your body will get used to it.
