  • I am going through this right now and it is not going well! I am thinking as long as I keep my exercising up and don't go over maintenance calories then I'm fine! I seriously don't worry about going over when I'm on.
  • Drink milk, add some high calorie snacks in the middle such as nuts and seeds, treat yourself? If I have calories left over that are more than 300-400 I have a treat such as a hot chocolate, or some ice cream. Obviously not every day but a treat once in a while also helps me stick to my goals.
  • I have had people ask if I am going too far. My goal is 10 stone and about 3 people have said I will be too thin (even though this is just below my average weight for my height!) I try to ignore them, and you should too!!
  • I was wondering about this yes. Sometimes when I check things to log on here they are out by about 20-40% sometimes. I logged a pack of crisps a couple of weeks ago that said 90 something calories but when checking the bag they were 120 something. You need to check your packaging and work it out correctly as well instead…
  • I think it is important for high calorie foods. Sometimes I guess salad and veg because I don't have time to weigh absolutely everything out (especially when I am cooking 2 seperate meals at the same time!) But always weigh things like cheese, sauces, nuts etc because I know I would end up having a lot more.
  • Sneaking them in is also a good idea. My partner isn't a huge fan and when I met him he'd not eat most veg. When I do a lasagne or bolognese or a chicken dish I put in onion, peppers, mushrooms, sweetcorn and other veg that he might not like on its own but goes well in a meal.
  • I used to hate stew when I was a kid...turns out I don't like pearl barley and everyone I know puts it in their stew! My stews are lovely, because I've cooked them without it. Try cooking them in different ways and you'll be surprised. For instance, I fry (with just a tiny bit of oil or 1 calorie spray) courgettes,…
  • If you like drinking a mixer with diet coke is less calories? B)
  • Chicken and mushrooms in BBQ sauce (doesn't have to be a lot of BBQ, just enough to marinade) and some garlic cloves. I also use the tomato Italian sauce I use for bolognese with chicken to mix it up a bit. 2 cloves of garlic, mixed herbs, 1 tablespoon of paprika, tinned tomatoes and tomato puree. Simple! :) You can add…
  • Lightly active would be not sitting around for long periods of time - I am also a student so I put sedentary to be on the safe side.
  • You have to want to do it.
  • Stews with fresh ingredients Soups Omelette and a side salad, I love mushroom and tomato in my omelettes Stuffed peppers (roasted) with cous cous Roasted courgette topped with low fat cheese and tomatoes (healthy pizza :D!)
  • I have people who tell me not to worry because they think my weight is fine. All I want to achieve is a normal BMI and to feel healthier and happier, and I put that over every thing anyone else says to me. I would definitely consider privately telling her how you feel. I would think that she's probably concerned that she…
  • I don't worry over Christmas, if you put on weight you can just lose it again :-) I would never spend Christmas watching what I eat/drink because it's the best thing about it!
  • I did quite well. Haven't been the gym in 3 months (until Saturday) and ate excessively over the Christmas period and only gained 5 pounds (3 of which was water because they've gone now) I feel very lucky considering I have been binging for 3 weeks straight (almost!) Not logging, not exercising.... back on it now though :-)
  • So a kilocalorie and a calorie are the same? Confusing! Thank you for your help :) Hard to believe I had burnt that many calories in a day though - but I did do close to 23,000 steps so maybe it's right?
  • Yeah, me too! I have reset it and everything and it's still in kilocalories. But I don't even know how to measure that against Calories burnt! So annoying and confusing!
  • It didn't give me an option for kilocalories or calories, I will try resetting it now, thanks!
  • One of the reasons why I hated working in an office building. I just turned into a social reject in the end and everyone stopped asking me to eat out, etc. I used to try and have my lunch at different times. And no, at the time it wasn't due to healthy choices, it was down to the fact I couldn't afford to eat out every day…
  • You should keep it if you want it - don't compromise! Haha
  • Sometimes I do, yeah, but not drastically. If you don't allow yourself to do so on occasion you end up hating the 'getting healthy' process. It used to bother me if I went over by 1 calorie, now I don't fret if I go over 100, because tomorrow is another day and I know I will continue to keep going.
  • I would maintain for a while so you don't give up, you've come too far to give it up!
  • I did 1,200 for the first month and lost 9 pounds, then put it up to 1,300 when I started exercising and now I am on1,500 to go slower. I think you can lose weight on 1,200, it just depends on the persons activity and if they're able to cope with so little calorie intake. It depends on the person.
  • Hi Julie, I have not been diagnosed but doctors and neurologists have said i have this. I started with light exercise, small walks and steps on the wii. I have heard swimming is really good for the pain and you work your whole body this way too, but I haven't been swimming in ages! I can honestly say eating well and…
  • Hi I'm from the UK :-)
  • It depends on the day. I will have a normal breakfast of around 200 calories, then if I am hungry about half 10-11 I will have a piece of fruit, and then a small lunch between 12.30-2pm. I like the keep a lot of my calories for when I get home to have a good hearty meal, because I find this works better for me. If I am…
  • I do think that he has a point. My partner is exactly the same with junk food - I have had to literally make myself become strong enough to avoid the 'treat's cupboard. I have done this by getting 2 coloured boxes - orange for my partner and pink for me - and I have healthy snacks in mine. I don't go to his box because my…
  • Fitted in to a size 14 (UK) dress that wasn't stretchy! I bought it to work into, but when I tried it on it already fitted me, so happy :D
  • Do you log your food properly? Do you use weighing scales? Many people don't think they are eating a lot, but they'd be surprised. For example, my sister thought she had a healthy day the other day, and thought count ing calories was stupid. I counted her calories for her and it turns out she had drank/eaten 700 calories…
  • I am currently 171 lbs and would like to be down about 6lbs in March and be in the 160s.
