I have Split my pants doing Squats started off as a little tear and by the last set they were practically in two (tore down the seam at the groin) got a few funny looks but just laughed it off and continued with my workout. Took plates off the bar on one side before the other and CRASH! gym manager comes running to inspect…

It seems quite silly to do countless unweighted squats when you can just do lower reps of weighted ones, you will get better results from the latter. There are a few women at my gym that do weighted squats/split squats and it seems to be working well for them.

Yeah i kinda feel for others at my gym, we have literally 2 racks and im on a compound based routine so i can take approx an hour getting stuff done. Im fine with people working in but most people are just too shy to ask.

People using crappy form especially on squats - they put too much weight on half squat then keep adding weight idk what they are thinking!
-
I haven't ever checked in, the only time people have a clue I go is when they see me in person. They are usually pretty Suprised I have muscles lol.

I think its just a case of being intelligent in regards to programming once you get to a certain point with 5x5 its really hard to progress on straight sets without beating up your joints etc, then you can switch to 3x5 once that starts to fail ramping sets of 5x5. I tried 5/3/1 and didn't like the low frequency but then…

You would be surprised how easy it is until you get to around 1.2-1.5x bodyweight on stuff like squats/deadlifts. You will make really quick progress just sticking with the program as written. Don't psych yourself out over thinking it and being scared of moving up on weights, a lot of the time I have thought I'm not gonna…

I only really ask for a spot if it's something that I haven't attempted and not sure if I'm gonna fail. I have learned how to fail but would rather have someone there just incase I drop it on my neck. Squats isn't as big a deal as I mastered failing squats in my noob yolo days when I didn't know my limits lol.

Deep squats work wonders

Yep always let them know exactly what you want doing as there can be alot of variation from person to person. Some people want lift offs, some want help with forced reps and others like me only want help if im going to get stuck under the bar.

Trying madcow's intermediate heard good things from guys at the gym and starting to stall at linear progression.

I used to get pain in my hip flexor everytime I squatted any appreciable weight. Look up limber 11 it will help build your mobility then you will be able to squat pain free if you do it daily.

Yeah it is red meat but you would need a monsterous amount to get 5g of creatine. I tried it when i first started lifting and especially during loading noticed a vast difference. I have since tried it as a early intermediate and no effect apart from getting cramps.

That's great im kinda just getting back into running (used to run 5k's) been mostly lifting weights and want to improve my general fitness. I know how great it can be post run when your lungs feel clearer just got to get there again lol.
-
Yeah it's one of those things that when your unfit isn't very fun but once you start clocking up the miles it becomes enjoyable dunno if i would run more then 10k though by choice lol.

milk cheap for lots of protein in the UK atleast

Personally i would avoid running being heavy (no offence intended) it's gonna put alot of stress on your joints i would go for just walking more, biking or swimming.

The thing with reducing your calories is your metabolism is a smart thing, it learns how many calories are coming in and slows itself to make it work. It's a far better strategy to eat more and burn it off with exercise either distance running or HIIT.
-
I haven't been finding it that bad first few weeks were abit dicey just adjusting to the calories from gaining weight(gained too much bodyfat). My metabolism has slowed dramatically and its not really an effort to stick within my calories anymore.
-
I weigh myself twice weekly but put Sunday's in MFP.
-
This! when i first started dieting I was constantly overeating and rolling over calories till the next day lol. Shouldn't matter as long as your weekly deficit matches.

Thanks guys and girls, first diet and was a bit anxious about losing all my hard earned strength if i dieted too fast. Think my misconception was regarding leaner people lol.
