I've never been able to get rid of the chlorine smell. Love it and embrace it!!! On the upside, my cardio sessions seem much more disinfected. lol

I am the opposite..I love cardio, hate the lifting. I suffer from high blood pressure and cardio seems heathiest for me. Weight lifting is good, but I think people forget the heart is such an important organ to work!

During open water swims, most people do freestyle because it is more efficient. If that is what you feel most comfortable with, I would start with breast stroke and work your way up to doing freestyle the whole time.
