  • Sure - I'll get one up tomorrow night :)
  • Hi ladies, My name is Lauren and I live in Ottawa, Ontario. I am 5'8.5" and ~150 lbs (been on vacation for 2 weeks so not sure of exact number until tomorrow morning) and would like to ultimately be 130. My first goal that I will be hitting hard is 142 for Aug 10, for a big party I'll be attending with my bf.
  • 5' 8.5" and I'd ideally like to be 130. Currently around 147 (from 160 at highest weight) and still have quite the tummy/midsection/thighs that NEED to get lost.
  • I live alone, but mine has gone down... I think even though I buy more expensive foods (like high quality cheese), because I'm portioning them correctly they last a lot longer. I have also cut down on the typical expensive items (like halving my glass of orange juice in the morning) which makes a noticeable difference. I…
  • Thanks for your help everyone! I feel like it's hard to help her as a motivator since I live so far away but I will pass on your suggestions! :)
  • OMG - you look amazing. Just wow.
  • Great work - you should be very proud!
  • If you can't leave his butt for good (which it sure sounds like you should consider), book yourself in a 3 week nutrition holiday vacation (Biggest Loser has one, but there are many private ones which may be healthier) on his credit card. Then, call and let him know you'll be back in three weeks. Three weeks of…
  • Book a hotel for 3 days for him a good distance from your place, and tell him to cab there when he calls you. Then, you have 3 days to figure out a longer term option.
  • Here's to starting fresh!!
  • I pack on the weight from eating out while catching up with friends. It is amazing how fast restaurant food puts the weight on! So I'm limiting myself this year and suggesting coffee dates with friends instead, and brown bag lunch dates in the office lunch room with coworkers (we usually eat at our desks so this is still a…
  • You should probably add in some type of weights/strength training as well. It will give you more visible tone/results! I noticed a difference in about 3 weeks when I was strength training. And I think you'll be totally fine to lose 10-15 lbs in 2 months if you're really diligent about sticking to your goals... 20 lbs is a…
  • Eat less meat! A block of tofu is <$2 and provides 4 servings with a high protein content. I spend very little on groceries by omitting a lot of meat, and then I have lots of leftover cash for splurges like greek yogurt (also packed with protein) and real orange juice (limit myself to 1 c per day though). Good luck!
  • In school FT, working 2 PT jobs and my life basically consists of school, school, school, work, work, working out, and sleep. There is NO easy way to do it, and I turn down a LOT of social invitations. The best thing I've done for myself is stop drinking, because that's HUGE calorie saver. It sucks to feel guilty about the…
  • I think your reasons for doing so (carbon footprint, cost savings) are awesome. I've been trying to do this more often too, and have my first attempt at sweet potato soup on the stove as we speak :) However, keep in mind the size of our wonderful country - where I live (Ontario), cranberries from BC travel further than…
  • I have been trying to lose at a slow rate because I'm terrified of sagging skin, so although I've hit plateaus and been impatient many, many times, I would be thrilled at an eight pound loss!! Over how long of a period was this? Even over 6 weeks, that's pretty solid. My advice is while you're trying to get back on track,…
  • I'm going away with my family (incl cousins) at Christmas to Freeport, Bahamas (where my grandparents live) and my wonderful BF is joining us too. Family has bets on whether or not we'll still be dating after he spends a week with my crazy family (they/we really are nuts lol) so I need to look extra hot in that bikini to…
  • I got heavy BECAUSE of being vegetarian. Like you, I was never a fan of beans (I can do chickpeas and that's about it!), and so I was protein deficient most of the time and always hungry. When you're hungry, you turn to lots of carbs to fill you up!! I was veggie for 4 1/2 years, and I've been eating meat again for about 2…
  • ^^Love it :P But I don't care if he cooks for me... I just like when he does the clean-up!! I hate dishes more than any other chore EVER.
  • I was also wondering this tonight!! I've had just under 1000 cal for the day but it's because I was up very late for school, woke up early for an exam, and came home and slept through the afternoon. I even got takeout sushi (love love love) because I had so much room but I'm STILL way under!
  • I aim for 1350 per day. This gives me a little more room to eat "normally" or have an extra half-cup of rice at dinner or OJ in the morning if I really want it. And really, the difference weekly is pretty negligable if you add in extra lifestyle changes (e.g. I started walking to the farther bus stop - add 10 min per day…
  • I disagree with the posters who imply that taking time to weigh your food is related to not taking an enjoyable vacation. For some people, that may be true, but for me, I'd be so proud of myself for eating well that it would IMPROVE my enjoyment of my vacation. I think that weighing and measuring your food while you're…
  • I'm 5' 8.5" and aiming for 130 (but will stop at 135 if I have no love handle fat!!). I have a medium frame and am a bit shorter than average posts on here so maybe that's why it will work for me? I'm also early 20s and no kids!! So there you go :P I'd like to fit into size US 6.
  • This worked VERY well for me too. I used to serve others and then myself, but now I prep my own plate in the kitchen first, even before the guests! This allows me to easily measure "half cup rice" or whatever, as opposed to heaping the plates. Then I see a normal food portion and give everyone a realistic portion (though…
  • FIRST TIP - Don't try to start too much at once. It's overwhelming. Start logging your food daily - everything, everyday - I really don't believe in the so-many-days-a-week logging. I'm not saying you have to eat 1200 cals a day (I sure don't), but log it no matter what your goal is or if you're over/under that day. Then,…
  • That's so beyond unacceptable. I am so, so sorry you have to go through this but just think... You've already come so far and how long will it be before you look SO MUCH hotter than that trash!! ;-)
  • I am 5'8" - 5'9" (medium frame) and I currently weigh 149 lbs, and I am NOT a true size 6 (only in the very generously sized stores, and even then generally an 8). My GW is 130, although if I'm toned at 135 I'll be happy with that too. I have a small waist but carry all my weight in chubby thighs and hips and squishy arms,…
  • Low calorie? As if. That's if you only eat ONE. If I make these, I'll need the nutritional info for the PAN hahah. Thanks for recipe, looks delish and I sure love hiding healthy stuff in my boyfriend's dessert! :)
  • I also go to Goodlife but I like the women's only ones... I live in the market but actually never go to Rideau centre one!! Vanier loblaws is a verrrry short bus ride so it's worth it for me, I love the classes there. I've been to most of the Ottawa locations near previous homes or employers, and I must say that I loved…
  • That's a really tough situation to be in - countless research shows that diets are more effective when the whole household participates. It's great that he thinks you're gorgeous anyway, but it's not about how you look, it's about how you feel! I think you really just have to say to him next time he pouts that you need…
