  • Here's your transparency: They are a COMPANY. The ONLY thing they care about is making MONEY. They DO NOT care about you or your health. They care about how much they can squeeze out of their users. I'm not even saying this from a bitter standpoint. This is how apps work y'all. This is how all companies work. MONEY is…
  • But then they don't make as much MoNeY! :'( :'( :'( :'(
  • Yep, have very poor vision so my UI is scaled HUGE. Can only see two items at a time around the massive ads and premium harassment bar at the top.
  • The fact that MFP just emailed to inform me the barcode scanner is going to be a paywalled feature.
  • Do you have blood sugar issues? I'm not diabetic, but I do get hypoglycemic. While losing, I have switched from 3 bit meals/day to 3 smallish meals with 2 snacks (mid-morning/afternoon). This helps keep my blood sugar stable all day. Another suggestion: make sure you are eating things that keep you full. I don't track…
  • I think it shouldn't be a matter of pure weight by the numbers or body shape, I think it should be a matter of health. If my SO was getting towards an unhealthy weight (too high OR too low), I would definitely say something to them. I care about their health and I want them to be healthy, which means being a healthy…

  • I lost 1-1.5lbs/week for about 8 weeks and then plateaued hard. I was super frustrated. I decided to step back and eat at maintenance for a week, then went back to what I was eating before. After my one week at maintenance, I dropped 5+ lbs in 3 weeks! I also felt refreshed and was actually excited to get back to calorie…
  • This. This is what I do. I give myself 1-2 days/month to eat maintenance to allow for the munchies.
  • Solely changing your diet to "not eating meat/animal products" does not automatically mean you will lose weight. Think of it this way: donuts are vegetarian (if you're ok with still eating eggs) and potato chips are vegan. Most of my overweight friends are vegetarian/vegan. What causes you to lose weight is consuming fewer…
  • Off topic: OP how much more weight are you aiming to lose? You are nearing the lower end of the healthy weight range for your height (101lbs is the low I've seen). Have you thought about doing a recomp instead?
  • If there is a fridge and you will be there for 5 days, go grocery shopping! Find a local store and buy some healthy snacks to keep in your fridge. I went on a week-long vacation and bought some deli meat, yogurt, fruits, and veggies to keep in my hotel fridge. I would eat 1-2 meals/day out of my fridge. Plus you save a LOT…
  • I'll make the same post here as I did in your thread in the other forum. There's an entire thread dedicated to this: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1161603/so-you-want-a-nice-stomach/p1
  • I noticed. As well as the fact that half of their sources are 10+ years old. The article sounds good, but I would like it to be backed by more up to date research and NOT end in a massive self-advertisement.
  • I am a huge stress eater. My weight directly correlates with my stress levels. I do a few things to avoid stress eating sugars: -Plan a small treat every day. I've found that if I plan for a little treat every day, then those sweets become routine and they are no more special than the veggies I eat every day. I'm a big fan…
  • You want to lose weight. Check out this forum for weight loss tips: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/general-diet-and-weight-loss-help
  • There's a whole thread about that very topic here: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1161603/so-you-want-a-nice-stomach/p1
  • No, no, no, no, and NO! NONE of this is true. First, your metabolism does not need to be "kick started" in the morning. Secondly, if you have a functioning liver, you are naturally detoxing 24/7 and there is NOTHING a glass of f@#$%* lemon water is going to do that your liver can't. Ignore everything this user has said.…
  • Look around at the forums. Every day there's 5 threads of new people asking how MFP arrived at their calorie goal. You put in your stats and MFP commands you only eat X amount, but doesn't explain why that is, what went into calculating that number, the fact that that number might not be right for everyone, why the number…
  • Because some people work out a lot but don't want a huge calorie deficit. For example, if I sit on my butt all day, I only burn about 1350 calories/day. But, I'm on my feet at work all day and I do a lot of walking so I end up burning about 2000 calories/day. A 650 calorie deficit is way too much for me at the moment, so I…
  • I agree with this. Weighing yourself every day is great for tracking trends as long as you understand that weight loss is not linear and your weight WILL go up some days. As to your backing off and losing more slowly, GOOD FOR YOU! You are recognizing what didn't work before and are changing it to make it work! Who cares…
  • My preference comes down to calories and taste. I use almond milk for my shakes because it has fewer calories. But if I'm cooking and the recipe calls for milk, I use skim cow's milk because the almond flavor doesn't always go with everything (like mac and cheese >.<)
  • 1-Weight loss is not linear. Use a weight trend app (I use Trendweight.com). Don't worry if the scale goes up every once in a while. 2-Weight loss is a marathon, not a sprint. Crash dieting doesn't help. It will take a while, but you WILL get there! 3-Don't focus solely on the scale. You can be losing inches off your waist…
  • Step 1: Have functioning kidneys and liver Step 2: Eat food. Seriously, "cleanses" are bogus and made up by companies to sell you useless products. Your body naturally detoxes every day and nothing you eat is going to affect that.
  • Munchies is part of my PMS (along with general grumpiness) and I usually eat at maintenance for 1-2 days.
  • I weigh daily and use Trendweight.com to track my overall trend. Also, down 35 pounds since the beginning of the year. You can do it! Just remember slow and steady.
  • I took a two week diet break and ate at maintenance for two weeks. I was re-energized and actually excited to getting back to losing weight. I think you should set up specific rules for yourself and pound it into your head that the diet break is temporary and you have more to lose.
  • Usually my PMS/cravings are unbearable for only one day. So, for that day, I eat at maintenance. I still plan my food and track my calories, but give myself more calories that one day to handle the munchies.
  • I've lost about 30 pounds so far and I've only been tracking calories. Macro tracking can help you feel more full by making sure you're eating enough protein, but are not required for weight loss.
