lose 15 pounds by Memorial Day
I know it's an odd time to start but start I must. Summer's coming! I'm at 165. I'd like to be below 150 for bathing suit season. Now that it's warming up I'm really hoping that I can get out more, to reach my 10,000 steps per day & find a way to add other exercise to my life. There is no good place to exercise in my home.…

need low-FodMap compliant ideas for Lent
We will be seeing my MIL over President's week. We have assessed the Covid risks & are OK with our choice. MIL suffers from IBS so I want to cook things that won't irritate her stomach. I'm just learning about low-FodMap & it's so different from my usual diet. I love things like broccoli, beans, cheese, dairy, pasta &…

timing of the logging ?
When I overeat, which usually happens at dinner, I can't bring myself to log until the next day. Why does it feel less psychologically painful to see the big numbers in the morning? I do get a charge out of going to bed knowing I met my goals on the days when that happens.

fitbit makes my arm feel weird?
I got a fit bit that also tracks my sleep. When I wear it I feel a tingly sensation radiating through my arm. After a few days it becomes a pain so I take the device off. It was worse when I 1st got it & the tingle would start within hours. I haven't worn my fitbit for months now but I'd like to track. Is it me? I tend to…

acceptance?
I joined this site 4 years ago with the goal of wearing a bikini on my 50th birthday. I did, getting down to about 137 lbs. Once I reached my goal my husband begged me to eat & not count calories saying he would rather I be fat & happy then skinny & bitchy because I was starving & obsessed all the time. On my weight loss…

I/S/O friends with 1200 calories & open diaries
Right now my diary reads more like what not to do. Looking for others with low calories limits who can give me ideas & make me laugh when I want to quit.

frustrated
I was successful using MFP last year, mostly in the warmer months. I got within 2 pounds of my goal & then fell off. Now I'm back, heavier then ever & I'm frustrated. Yes I understand CICO & I know I need to move more. Got a fit bit. It just makes be depressed because almost every day I fail to meet my modest 8,000 steps…

calories in pizza
If you get a slice & the pizzeria doesn't publish its nutrition info, how do you figure this out? The place I go is local so it's not in the MFP list. I try to just pick the verified listing with the most calories & guestimate from there. I'd love a better / more accurate solution. Food isn't really my downfall as much as…

summer v winter weight loss
Last time I got serious was during the summer months. I always thought it would be easier during the warm weather & assumed I pack on pounds during hibernation season. Back then it was a struggle to get full & not feel hungry during the day. I would bring fruit to work, snack on carrots etc. Now it's winter & I feel myself…

self discipline
I have always had things relatively easy & as a result never had much self discipline in anything. I did MFP last year hoping to drop about 23-25 pounds for my big birthday. I only managed 19 & then felt demoralized. I need to revamp many parts of my life. This will be the easiest to track. In general though how do you…

Getting RE-started
I have been so lax. When I realized I wasn't going to make it into a bikini for my birthday I kind of gave up. I have been eating, & drinking (my personal calorie downfall), not logging & not exercising for so long, since like February. Where do I find the motivation to re-start, to get back to the gym, to do something . .…

Qs to ask before hiring a trainer
I'm getting down to crunch time. I have 6 pounds to go before my self imposed deadline but can't get them off. I know my nutrition is poor, even when my calories are good. I could use more info about the right way to exercise. The "free" trainer at my gym just isn't enough. So I have decided to look for a personal trainer.…

winter v summer
I started this journey in July & found it easier to lose weight in the warmer weather. Cold water is not appealing in cold weather but I'm starting to drink more hot tea. We did a lot of grilling outside in the warmer weather but my winter go to recipes tend to be casseroles & crock pit meals. I'm trying to figure out how…

ankle weights?
I bought a pair of ankle weights yesterday. 5 pounds -- 2 1/2 on each leg What is the best / most effective way to use them? I have been wearing them around the house as I do chores & even just relax.

Lowest calorie Thanksgiving choices?
I know the mashed potatoes are out -- too much cream & butter. I'm going to try to limit myself to a tablespoon because I know I'll feel deprived if I don't have any. Stuffing is probably bad too, all those carb calories. Steamed broccoli, lean turkey, green beans (unless they are smothered in mushroom soup & crispy onion…

Multi vitamins
Do you take them? Should I start? On this MFP journey I don't think I've even come close to meeting vitamin goals more then maybe once. I used to get vitamins from juice but have tried (not always successfully) to avoid drinking my calories

Almost there. Now what?
I'm within 10 pounds of my goal weight. I figure I'll get there by the end of the year. So 2017 will be the year I maintain. I was the same weight from about 20 through 35. By 40 the pounds started to creep up. My lifestyle didn't change all that much. As I near menopause I wanted those extra 25 pounds gone & I'm almost…

1200 calories & open diaries?
My MFP friends are great people. But I get a little discouraged everyday when they come in under their calories goal & I'm over yet again. I console myself with knowing that I'm under their goals but this is a personal journey. Thus I'm looking to align myself with others who have body types/ goals closer to mine for…

eating less vs burning more
Can someone please explain this to me: On days when I'm not hungry, I tend to eat less than 1000 calories. I'm not going to force food down my throat when I'm not hungry. It's not often but when I log it & hit complete diary, MFP scolds me for eating too little. But then I see diaries where people eat their calories but…

scared of the bathing suit
I have lost 12 pounds since I started this journey. I'm back to a size 8 & it's relatively loose. But this weekend I'm leaving for vacation where people will want to photograph me in a bathing suit & I'm dreading it. What do you do about the bathing suit? It's a tankini, 2 piece that covers my stomach (my problem area…

This is making me paranoid
I am a recovered anorexic. In college at 5'7 I weighed between 105 & 110 & had huge body image issues. I never got treatment. I just started eating & stopped playing the various food games I used to play when I was manipulating my intake. I managed to gain to a healthy weight of 125 & happily went through life at that…

Reasonable amount of calories in a sandwich
I was excited when I realized that one of my favorite on the go sandwiches had 450 calories. Today I made a sandwich at home for about 445 calories. I know part of it is 200 calories for the bread. But is that under 500 calories good / reasonable for a sandwich? I'm just not sure how many calories healthy versions of…

finding the time
I was doing OK in July & August . . . getting to the gym 3-4 days per week & getting in a walk on the days I didn't go. But since September rolled around my days are packed. I leave the house around 6:45 to head to work. Most times I have night meetings so I'm not getting home until 10: p.m at least 3 nights per week. I…

best spiralizer?
I keep seeing all these recipes for zucchini noodles. What is the best device to buy? I'm defining "best" as the most economical (cheapest) that still works. I don't want to spend $100 on another useless thing that sits in a drawer. I own the handheld vegetable peeler but felt like I threw away a lot of the vegetable…

Labor Day BBQs -- help, need willpower
Please give me some willpower tips. We have 3 BBQs this weekend. B) Tonight I can probably stick to mostly protein. I'm the designated driver so I won't be drinking. Tomorrow I am going to want to graze all day. The saving grace will hopefully be lots of swimming. I'm going to try to walk 2 miles before we head over. I…

sugar
I have a sweet tooth. I was drinking a lot of regular Pepsi but have managed to cut that out. I now eat a lot of fruit, not too much processed sugar. As a result of all the fruit, my sugar numbers are still high. I do not have a sugar problem or even pre-diabetes. Even when I was drinking 4-6 sodas per day my fasting blood…

Help -- honey has 60 calories OMG!
As we turn toward autumn, I will go back to hot tea for breakfast. I usually have it with a teaspoon of local honey. I like the way local honey helps my allergies too. But wow -- 60 calories a teaspoon. I suppose I could use sugar at only 12 calories but it loses the richness. In the long run if I go over by 60 calories…

figuring out calories in homemade food?
Ugh. This concept seems to elude me. When I made things like grilled chicken & steamed vegetables it's easy. You weigh; it's on MFP; viola, you know what you ate. But what do you do for other things? For example I make a Mexican Lasagna . . .reasonably healthy, fresh vegetables, a can of black beans, a can of corn, lots of…

can you taste the spinach / kale in your smoothie?
I despise both. Trying to figure out if I can hide it so I can get more fiber / nutrients in my smoothie. How "green" does your smoothie taste with the veggies in it?

failing to stay under every day
I'm supposed to be at 1200 calories. I do eat back my exercise calories but I can't go to the gym 7 days per week. When I try to be good & I eat nutritious stuff in small portions but still end up over by 100 - 200 calories which is more often then not I get really discouraged, like why bother. I feel like I failure when I…
