ankle weights?

I bought a pair of ankle weights yesterday. 5 pounds -- 2 1/2 on each leg
What is the best / most effective way to use them? I have been wearing them around the house as I do chores & even just relax.

DON'T use them for walking or running. They can change the gait of your walk as well as put more undue direct pressure on your ankle joint.
Should only be used for resistance while doing things like, leg raises, knee ups, or even static holds.

Be careful - they can hurt your knee if used improperly, too. Ninerbuff is correct with how to use them.0

Very controlled movements like leg lifts are good. Walking or running - not. The extra weight increases the momentum of the movement, which puts a lot of stress on knee and ankle joints.0
