can you taste the spinach / kale in your smoothie?

I despise both. Trying to figure out if I can hide it so I can get more fiber / nutrients in my smoothie. How "green" does your smoothie taste with the veggies in it?

Not green at all. I love adding spinach - but generally I only taste the fruits I put in. Then again I love both so it isn't really an issue. Just try it and you'll know.0

I put lots and lots of spinach in my smoothies and can't taste it.0

Kale, yes. Spinach, no. I don't taste the spinach at all in my smoothies, but kale does have a stronger taste and I notice it with even a little bit added.0

Depends on the ratio of greens to fruit. Start with less at first.
Baby spinach is good to start with. Much milder than kale.0 -
Not really. The pond water flavor of the spirulina I use kind of takes over.1

Not a bit. and yes, start with baby spinach.0

I've eaten some from planet smoothie and I don't. I eat a smoothie every few months though and tend to just eat several servings of vegetables every day. I love spinach, but kale is satan's illegitimate son's second cousin's gift to the world.2

It depends on how much you put in and what else is in there. I put a lot in and find that spinach is more neutral, and kale usually can be tasted, but it's a pleasant taste, kind of grassy.
(I don't dislike the taste of kale, though -- my main issue with it in some preparations is the texture.)
I also always try to add some other kind of vegetable. Cucumber is easy (and can't be tasted) and summer squash also has basically no taste.* Fennel and green/orange/red/purple pepper both add a taste, but if you judge properly they are positive additions (especially fennel which I love).
My latest thing is experimenting more with herbs -- fresh sage and mint are great and obvious. Anise-hyssop is probably less common, but also works really well. A friend thought I was weird to use basil, but I really like it too. (One of these at a time, not all together!)
*I'm usually in the "vegetables taste good, why not just cook them/have a salad" camp, but a smoothie is my whole breakfast lately and I like making sure I get a couple of different types of vegetables at each meal.0 -
Depends on what i put in with it. Usually i can only taste the fruit i put in. I use sweet fruits like strawberries and i always add 1/4 cup plain whole milk yogurt for tartness and i inly use water to blend if i add almond milk it almost nutrilizes the fruit and i can taste the greens a lot. So i dont put any type of milk and juice is too much sugar and callries so i just use water the blend.0

Thanks all. Maybe I'll try it. I'm afraid to waste money on spinach that I will just throw out.0

Generally I'll use 85g (About a blender full) with 8 oz almond milk and 25-30 g soy protein. The smoothie is as green as it gets, and I can't taste the spinach at all. Kale, I'm unsure. I've never tried it.
Honestly, spinach is pretty cheap. If you don't like it after trying it, try to give it away or just cut your losses and pitch it.0 -
Kale I taste a lot. Spinach less, and swiss chard even less.0
