Coming Back
Hi. I'm Phil, a 64 year old from Oklahoma. I'm a retired engineer with a consuming hobby in plasma cut metal art and signs. About 3 years ago, I reached my highest weight of 246 lbs (I'm 6'2").Then I dropped about 25 lbs but settled in at 225. Then, on 9/18 of this year, I started again and weighed in at 199. But I have…

Are these calorie counts right?
I got one of those big Walmart sub sandwiches from the deli case and logged the portion I ate. But I'm surprised to see their Supreme is listed her at about 275 calories for the whole thing. Am I misinterpreting something? I would have estimated over 800 calories.

Seeking Fellow Losers
Hi. I'm on my third month of weight management and have gotten a little lonely on the journey. I'm a 59 year old male and I have lost 22 lb since 1/15. I've been on a sort of plateau for about a week, but I will fight thru it. I've recently joined a gym and have been doing circuit training as well as my normal elliptical…

Exercise NSV--No Pics Whatsoever
When I started my current weight control regime, I stepped on my elliptical machine and felt fortunate to put in 20 minutes for 280 calories. Tonight, I completed one hour and the machine read 1080 calories expended. Even if the count is inaccurate, it's not bad for a 58 year old. :smooched:

3/4 of the way to my goal
The scale showed that I've lost 30 lb since I started my plan on 6/28/11. 10 more pounds to go! It also put me at the top end of my "Normal/Healthy" BMI range. Can you tell I'm a numbers guy? Anyway, I'll try to learn about posting Before/After pics by the time I reach my goal of 187 lbs. Thanks for reading.

Obscure NSV's
Lots of people post pics of themselves in clown-size pants and that's a great thing. Other NSV's are not as apparent, but are still very meaningful. Here are some of mine: 1) Easier for me to clip my toenails and tie my shoes 2) Easier to get up and out of my easy chair 3) Bending down to pick something up off the floor is…

Negative Net
I've had an odd sort of day. I got up late, skipped breakfast, had a light lunch and then hit the eliptical. After logging into MFP I saw that the combination stood at -340 cals for the day thus far. I've been "negative" before so this wasn't a real surprise or any thing, but it got me to thinking. It seems quite possible…

Anyone else using a bum scale?
I swear, my bathroom scale is driving me over the edge. It's digital and a few years old. My weight reading can vary as much as 1.5 lbs just by how I position my feet or even if I rotate the scale. And it only reads to the nearest half pound anyway. I'm too cheap to buy another one though. Felt like whining tonight. Thanks…

Anyone here ever try the Lumosity Brain Training stuff?
Their ads are all over this website. Have you tried any of their apps and, if so, have they helped you?

WHAT IS YOUR AVERAGE WEIGHT LOST PER MONTH?
I'm losing about 7 lb each month--neither great nor bad. How 'bout you?

Taking a poll: A or B
I'm trying to lose 1.5 lb/week. I've been ramping up my exercise and have over 3700 calories worth for the past week. I really put the pedal down today and burned 800 cals on the elliptical and 440 on other stuff. I normally stay below 1550 cals/day intake and never eat my exercise cals. The hard part is that I'm 58 (but…

Metabolism vs Exercise
Hi. I'm a 58 yr old male, and I've been on a weight loss regimen for almost 2.5 months, losing 17 lb. I guess I need to satisfied with that, but I clearly can't lose weight as fast as when I was in my twenties. I was wondering if anyone out there has insight into the likely reason for the decreased weight loss capability.…

Got enough gas to drive to Cleveland
Maybe it's the extra fruit and fiber, but I've been very gassy since I started my weight loss regimen. I don't recall this happening on previous efforts. And I can't keep blaming it on the dog anymore. Anyone else experiencing this?:noway:

Satisfactory Progress?
I'm probably not going to write anything that hasn't been posted a thousand times before, but I remain...undeterred. Today is my two month diet anny. I lost 9 lbs before I came to MFP and 5 more since 8/8. My rate of weight loss is about half what it used to be back in my twenties (58 now), but I guess I'm OK with that.…

Losing Slowly
Hi, I'm Phil. As a 58 year old male, I'm probably not a typical member here. I've been on for a few weeks at the suggestion of my daughter. I actuallly lost about 9 - 10 lbs before I arrived here, so I started my weight quest at 227 and my goal is 187, even though I haven't been under 200 for about 15 years. My CW is 216.…
