Customizable running app?
I am newly getting into running and am doing the run-walk-run method. However, running outside and timing can be difficult. Is there an app that will tell you time intervals? MapMyRun (free) will tell you distance and pace, but has no option for time. Ideally, I would like it to play over my music like MMR does. Any…

Exercise bike and actual calorie burn?
This might be a noob exercise question, but I have somewhat recently started using a exercise bike at the gym and I am completely lost when it comes to accurately logging the exercise on MFP. If I go for the "bicycling" option it only gives speeds and doesn't account for resistance and sometimes gives me HUGE calorie burns…

Lotions/ moisturizers for skin tightening?
I am on the path to lose a large amount of weight and even though I am doing everything right to keep my skin's elasticity - I want to add a lotion/ moisturizer to the routine. Does anyone have anything they've used and liked?

Prep lunches?
When it comes to eating right, I am the weakest when I am at work in the afternoon. It's when hunger, stress and exhaustion usually hit the hardest and I am the most tempted to eat something bad. That being said, I am looking for ideas for lunches that are filling and portion-controlled. I would prefer these recipes can be…

Rewards and goals along the way?
I am a very goal-oriented person, so I'm curious. What does everyone find more effective when trying to lose a lot of weight: working towards the large goal (i.e. 100 pounds off) or setting small goals along the way (i.e. 10 pound increments), or both? And then, similarly, what type of things to do you reward yourself with…

Longest plateau?
Out of curiosity, what is the longest plateau you've ever had? Hope this will encourage some people as well as myself! :glasses:

Vivofit problems
Sorry if this isn't in the right place - wasn't sure what it would qualify as... I bought a Vivofit was super, super excited about it! I got it at work today and couldn't wait to get home to play with it. I set it up, got it all synced to computer, MFP, phone, etc. and as I was just sitting there (wearing the bracelet to…

Upper body workout while on the treadmill?
So I like the treadmill for one very simple reason. I get on, I go for an hour and get off. I can't just stop like I can while doing crunches or whatever. My upper body is severely lacking working out cause of this and I've been wracking my brain to figure something out. I've had a thought, what if I simply add 5 - 10…

Work out woes
I moved to Manhattan 5 months ago and since have become quite poor. Hey, it helps my not eating as much, but my workout has taken a severe hit. I used to use those delightful bands stuck in doors to get my upper body workout on. Now, I live in a postage stamp and all the doors don't fit the little flap through it and there…

Yoga recommendations?
I've recently moved to Manhattan and while I'm still adapting to eating and living here, I've had to give up my beloved treadmill. Yes, obviously I'm doing more walking, but it doesn't really feel like that much. So I live in a postage stamp, but a postage stamp big enough to roll out my yoga mat. I was never much into…

A strange question
So I've been fat my whole life, the slimmest I've ever been was 170 at the age of 17 (just for reference I'm 5'5) so when it comes to figuring my goal weight I do the BMI thing and know I have small bones, so I guess the lower end of the scale. But that's so imperfect, cause it won't really guess what I'd actually look…

Something I can't wrap my head around.
I've tried to explain this a few times to different people and people either didn't understand me or had no clue how to answer, so let me try again here. So as of today, I'm 48 pounds down. Started at a horrifying 247 and trying to get to 120, meaning I've got 79 pounds to go. When I started I was size 18 pants and as of…

Purposely staying single?
I've never actually posted here, but I was wondering something. Is there anyone else who is purposely staying single during their weight loss? I don't have an extensive dating history. Uninterested in high school. Ridiculously busy and career-oriented in college and for a while after and now it's like, why get involved…

At a workout deadend!
The issue in a nutshell: - I'm trying to exercise my back - lats, specifically. - I do the research, chin ups, pull ups, etc. - I don't have a gym membership and can't afford one at the moment. - I look into those nifty in door chin up bars and am told it would probably ruin the door frame in the house (it's pine?) - I…

Not sure what this area called or how to work it out.
I know you can't spot reduce, but as I was gaining weight, I had this one area get particularly "cushioned" and as I'm losing I'm noticing it's not going down. Much to my annoyance. To further the irritation, I have ZERO idea what this is called. Not under arm, more like side boob? Haha! Instead with the help of Google and…

So... saggy skin?
I'm 23 (almost 24) and have been overweight my whole life. From fat child to fat adult. I've never really lost more than 30 pounds before this time and I have the crippling fear of having saggy skin. I feel like cause I've never been thin, my skin won't know how to be thin (if that makes any freaking sense at all! Haha!)…

Upper body workout question...
Warning: this question might seem ultimately stupid. I've been doing the treadmill for a number of years, but as I am losing weight this time around, I've been trying to work out my upper body. I tried a few small workout things, with no avail. Now I am doing the good, old-fashioned push ups. Okay, the girly kind against…

Ultimately stupid workout question...
I workout on a treadmill most time and there are days when I sweat a LOT more than others. I stick to the same speed more or less. Sometimes I do "dance" more on the treadmill (Yeah... I admit that - it's a treadmill at home so no one sees me.) Does this mean I'm burning more calories or what? *waits for dunce hat*

The nutrition categories.
Obviously we all count calories, but what others do you monitor? I have cals, fat, carbs and protein. I feel like I should add sugar, but I drink specialized frappuccinos daily and it kicks my sugar over and that makes me feel bad, so I don't monitor it. Hahah! I'm a bad dieter.

Loosing the last weight gained?
In my 4 years of college and the year after, I guess that I gained about 60 pounds. :blushing: x a million. I gained in areas I was very *aware* of. Now, I can tell that some of those areas have gone down, but some not as much as I thought on the way up. Is this a lack of working out those areas? Or *shudder* saggy skin?!…

What are you calling this...?
So there's a four-letter word that we all know of, one that isn't (but should be) banned on TV. "Diet". *shudder* Diet has such a huge, swirling connotation that's usually negative. However, to me, "diet" means a temporary change and one day we won't be dieting and we'll go back to old eating habits. But that can't happen,…

Measurements - sorry for the dumb question.
So, I really hate measuring myself, mainly because I always think I'm doing it wrong. And no amount of looking at measuring guidelines online will convince me I am doing it right. However, I attempted this last month and since it'd been a month, I decided to try again. According to my shady measuring, I lost: 2 inches in…

Er, losing weight too fast?
I weigh every Sunday. Sometimes a few random days in between, just for kicks, but my official recordings happen on Sundays. Two Sundays ago I was 222. Last Sunday I was 222. Which I'm fine with maintaining. I weigh Tuesday and it's 219. YAY! Happy dance! Hard to believe, but happy dance. I weigh again the next day and it's…

Upper body workout help!
So, I don't belong to a gym. Hey, I freelance in the film industry which means very, very little, if any, pay and I can't afford it at the moment. However! I DO have a treadmill at home. AND I ADORE IT. As I lose weight, I have The Skin Worry. I certainly don't want to lose weight only to have flabby arms *shudder* Are…

Weightloss goals for the new year?
I bet there's a thread out there for this, but I couldn't find it, so I'll start this one! I generally don't believe in New Year's Resolutions, but for giggles, I came up with a weight loss range for this year. 43 - 50 lbs. 43 pounds will get me to just an 'overweight' BMI. I've never been able to keep a weight loss going…

Fact or fiction? A women-only question...
Growing up my mom had a set of "weighing rules". (Can you tell being overweight runs in the family?) One was weigh in the morning, after peeing and with little clothes on, always. The second and MOST VITAL was disregard weighings around "the time of the month" cause it is ALWAYS more (and therefore you will get discouraged…

Who is doing this with a doctor's assistance?
I love that little disclaimer you always see on diet commercials that says something to the effect of: never start a diet regime without doctor's approval. I *know* I am not the only one who has ignored this. To be bluntly honest, I haven't gone to a general practitioner since I was dismissed from my pediatrician at 18…

Long-time dieter, first-time poster.
43 days ago, to be precise, I had this amazing epiphany that made me realize I wanted to and HAD to lose weight. I've been overweight all my life and things like college and real life stress have only added to that original problem. The first few weeks were fabulous! Weight dropped off. Eighteen pounds of it, actually. I…
