Work out woes

I moved to Manhattan 5 months ago and since have become quite poor. Hey, it helps my not eating as much, but my workout has taken a severe hit. I used to use those delightful bands stuck in doors to get my upper body workout on. Now, I live in a postage stamp and all the doors don't fit the little flap through it and there is no surface to attach it. I did have an ingenious moment with a vertical heating pipe running floor to ceiling, but even with some modifications, doesn't stay in place.
I'd love to do pull ups (desired muscle work out: latissimus dorsi -- right below the arm pit) but have no place to do them. There's a crowded kiddie park not far away, that might have monkey bars (will have to scout this) but yeah, that might warrant weird and concerned looks. I'm going for a major weight loss and do not feel comfortable doing it without much exercise other than my (exhausting) retail job.
I'm not looking for a solution (though if you have one, I'll hear it!) I'm just complaining about my situation.

Why not take the bands to the park. Lots of people work out at parks. Chin-ups are great, but they don't target fat in the latissimus area, if that's what you're trying to do. For an explanation, google "spot reduction myth". Best thing for fat loss is a full-body workout.. especially hitting legs, since they burn the most calories. What leg lifts do you plan on doing?0

You could do Dumbbell Pullovers for the lats. I get DOMS right in the area you are talking about. If your space is too small for a bench, just use something that gets your chest up and lie on the floor. It doesn't need to be very high.0

I know about spot reduction and how it doesn't work, still, it's an area I want to work out regardless. I'd include other upper body too,but that would be my focus work out. I used to do the treadmill, now I get my work out from walking around NYC. haha0
