Time for a come back... and it's really hard!
A little back story.... I joined MFP 5 years ago in April of 2012. My SW was 175. My original goal was to loose 25 pounds but in a year, I lost 40. I went from walking to running half marathons and competing in triathlons in about a year and a half. It was absolutely amazing! Through the next couple of years, I maintained…

Can we forget about the bike?
Hey guys! I did a handful of triathlons last year and one this spring. Since then, I have not gotten on my bike. To be honest, I do not like to bike. In my year and a half of really training on the bike I never learned to love it. In fact, I didn't like it at all. By the end of every ride I just wanted to get off the damn…

Favorite protein/nutrition bars?
I have been expiramenting lately with my usual afternoon protein bar snack. I was eating Nature Valley protein bars everyday, but I have been getting bored and changing it up. Letely, I have been trying Luna bars and their different flavors. So far, they are awesome! Tried a Kashi Go Lean crunch bar this afternoon and it…

Last race of my season went well!
Yesterday was my last race of tri season..... man I am going to miss the racing for the next 6 months..... running races just aren't as fun! It was another sprint: 1/3 mile swim, 14 mile bike, and a 5k run. Swim: 11:40 Not my best..... got going in the wrong direction a couple of times.... probably added a tenth of a mile.…

Got in trouble on a ride....
I am a triathlete.... more of a runner than anything though. I just started riding about a year and a half ago on a hybrid and started on my tri bike about 6-7 months ago. Just started 20+ mile rides in the last few months training for triathlons. I planned a bike ride for Sunday morning. At 27 mile rolling hill ride with…

Running groups... pet peeves, etc?
I am joining my first running group. It is a training group for our Turkey Trot race Thanksgiving day, but I am kind of hoping it turns into more. I have been running for awhile and while I know every hill, curve, acceptable bush/ditch for emergencies, it gets boring running my same old few loops. Plus, it would be nice to…

Race recap!
I know you all care about my racing....... haha! It's fun to talk about it to people who know what you do! I did a sprint on Saturday, Beach Blast tri in Mexico Beach, FL. It was an ocean swim which I was nervous about because the last one went horribly! Splits: Swim .35 miles & a .25 mile run to T1- 12:46 T1 - 1:49 Bike…

What races do you have coming up?
I have 2 sprints. One Sept 13 Beach Blast tri in Mexico Beach, FL. Super excited though nervous about the ocean swim. Last one did not go so well. This one is more out.... a triangle pattern rather than out a little and along the shore. Second one is October 12 - Tri the Rez in my hometown. This was my first tri ever and I…

Seasick and lost in ocean swim..... happy anyways!
Did a sprint on Saturday..... BFAST in Mayport, Florida. The seas were rough, no real rip tide but lots of choppy waves. My swim was shallow so we were right in the rolling waves. So, I got a little seasick. They also had to remove the last buoy after my wave started so I (along with a lot of other women) got lost towards…

Losing and gaining the same 3-4 pounds.....
I have been losing and gaining the same 3-4 pounds since September. Once I hit 20 pounds lost, I was thrilled and starting giving myself more breaks than I should have. Now I have gotten back into those bad habits and I can not seem to shake them. 20 pounds lost is HUGE for me.... esspecially doing it the right and healthy…

Ocean Swim
I am looking into doing 2 races this year with ocean swims. I feel that I am a strong swimmer but I have never done an ocean swim before. Other than practice sessions, anyone have any advice?

Struggle with "maintenance"..... time for honesty
So I have been at this MFP thing for awhile now. I entered into maintenance a year ago. I have flucuations from 135 - 140. Lately it has been closer to 140 and sometimes a bit higher (like my weigh in today). I have been so afraid of gaining the weight back that I have left my calorie goal at 1450/day. Wait.... What?!?…

Fitness success!
I have been in maintenance since April 2013. It took me a little over a year to loose almost 40 pounds which I was very proud of. Now, I am proud of what I have achieved with fitness and I want to share! About 6 years ago, I was a pack a day smoker, a regular drinker and overweight. I was struggling with my inner demons. I…

A confession to the MFP Police
I need to confess. Here is a list of rules that I have broken: 1. I do not log every single little thing that goes into my stomach. I have a little creamer in my coffee every morning.... I don't log the coffee or the creamer. I also have a jar of sugar free hard candies on my desk..... I eat probably 6 of those a day. Oh,…

First Tri Results....
It was a sprint: 1/3 mile swim, 14 mile bike, 3.1 mile run Swim: 10:46 T1: 1:18 Bike: 57:30 T2: 1:25 Run: 32:06 Overall time: 1:43:02 I was the 5th woman overall out of the water..... then just about everyone passed me on the bike because I was on a mountain bike and it was sssllllooooowwww! Felt great on the run! I had so…

First triathlon tomorrow!
Around this time tomorrow I will hopefully be on the run portion of my race. I am a ball of nerves but so excited! I have 2 goals for tomorrow: 1. Finish in 2 hours or less (it's a sprint) 2. run the whole run except for water stops. EEEEEE!!! Tomorrow, I become a triathlete!

First Tri 24 days away.... advice?
My first triathlon is October 12 and I am nervous. It is a sprint and I just want to finish. My mom is a world class triathlete and I have watched her most of my life, so I know the technical stuff and what gear to bring and all of that fun stuff. I am nervous more about my fitness level. I know that I can do the swim, the…

What are you going to eat when you reach GW?
I am now a little less than 5 pounds away from my goal weight. My husband asked me what I wanted to eat when I finally reach it.... oh my goodness. There is a list. First thing - bacon and cheese Whataburger Jr. And then I started drooling. And some chocolate chip cookies for dessert. Honestly, though. I am afraid to even…

Foot then leg cramps
Hello everyone! I need advice! I believe that I am a strong swimmer.... swam for a community team as a kid and then for my high school before taking some years (and by some I mean 10) off. I have gotten back into in the past 6 or so months but more seriously in the last couple of months due to a knee injury. Now, I am back…

Working out to eat
There is a local restaurant where I live that has the best fried chicken sandwich. Today was my half day at work. So, I decided that I was going to work out extra hard today so I can have a Lindy's fried chicken sandwich and crinkle fries with ranch. Oh man! I am so happy that I did that and I will be good for another few…

Maintenance Questions...
I am so close to going into maintenance that I am getting nervous. For anyone in maintenance mode, did you slowly up your calories or did you do it all at once? How did it work? How did the first couple of weeks go? I am a weekly weigher and I am afraid that my body will go into shock.... according to MFP, maintenance mode…

My story 1 year later....
I started using MFP in April 2012 when a couple of my coworkers told me about it. I reached my goal weight this week, so I figured it was time to tell my story. I remember always being the chubby girl in school. I remember when a friend asked me what my fat roll was (I was around 8 probably) I told her it was extra skin.…

NSV and happy dance!
I went to 2 stores today, Marshalls and Old Navy and I tried on shorts...... a size 6..... and they FIT! not even in the "just cause it zips don't mean it fits" category. They actually really freakin fit. A couple of years ago I got rid of all my size 6 everything because there was no way I was goingto fit in those again.…

Hard time believing....
I have always been a "chubby" girl or a "curvy" girl. I have a very vivid memory from when I was a little girl.... my friend and I were sitting down and she pointed at my fat roll and asked what it was. I told her it was extra skin.... you know in case I got cold. She didn't mean any harm... we were maybe 7 or 8 years old.…

2013 Goals (NOT resolutions!)
Hey everyone! I have never been one to make a New Year's resolution and keep them. So, I wanted to do something different because 2013 is a big year for me.... I will be turning the big 3-0! I decided to make some fitness goals for my 30th year. Here they are: 1. Run at least one 5K race every month for the whole year 2.…

husbands new schedule and finding time to workout!
I have been blessed in the past with my husband having evenings off and getting to do my workouts... runs mostly while he was with our boys. Now, he is back to working evenings and is not getting home until 9 or 10 p.m. and running with my boys is not really an option. I have every intention of getting up early and going…

Things are getting easier!
I started this journey in April. I was totally uncomfortable with myself and had no energy. So, 4 months and almost 20 pounds later... I can FEEL the changes in my body. I do Zumba 1-2 times per week and I have noticed that I can lift my legs higher with less effort. Sunday, I went on a 8 mike bike ride and then jumped off…
