Insulin Resistant?
Hi all! I have really been struggling to lose weight this past year. I have been doing most of the "right" things. Low carb, cal counting, adjusting cals, blah blah... I do have some health things though. I had my thyroid removed in 2.5 years ago and that plays such a big role in our health in different areas. My dr had me…

Hi - Coming back again
Hey! I have been on MFP for ages but I am starting over. I had a total Thyroidectomy for thyroid cancer a year and a half ago and I am really having a hard time losing. Cutting cals, watching carbs and even cutting dairy out of my diet and I am just sitting where I am for 2 months now. Any others out there in the boat I am…

Mexican restaurant - please help!
I need help. I have my class reunion today and I don’t want to blow my eating plan. Would fajitas (corn tortillas) be better than an order of 3 street tacos (corn tortillas, no cheese, just onions and cilantro and salsa)? Or is there a better option? I would be going with chicken or shrimp on both of those.

How many cals do I really need?
I am 38. 250 pounds. 5'5.5" tall. I work sitting on my butt most of the day. Is 1600 too much? I am trying to incorporate low carb more into my diet but it is definitely not a perfection (I had a small slice of raisin bread this a.m.).

Fave workouts online?
I work full time from home with a 2 year old underfoot (and I also have 3 older kids that are 12, 15, and 18). Too busy to get to the gym but would like to find something online to do when my baby is napping. Any favorite workouts on youtube I can toss on? Other than Walk Away the Pounds?

Fitbit question!
I have never been clear on this so I thought I would ask here. My Fitbit is synced to MFP so my steps are calculated in automaticallly. But if I go to the gym and work out on the treadmill or elliptical, do I put that in as well?? Would that be double logging the same exercise?

10,000 steps a day?
I am a BUSY mom to 4 kids - and while we are often on the go, it is mostly in the car. I aim to walk at least 2 miles every night even after running around. My goal of 7500 steps is often not reached even with that walk in. By the end of the day, my feet are killing me. I don't know how in the world to go above and beyond…

Fitbit Question
So, I see where my Fitbit is connecting to MfP but it is not logging my exercise. In fact, Fitbit doesn't recognize my work out at all. I just got back from a nice 2.5 mile walk and it didn't log it. Do I still need to log my activity even though it is counting my steps over here?

Nursing moms? Help!
I had my son on 12/8 and I am nursing...so first and foremost, I am looking to make sure my milk supply is good. Any idea on how to determine caloric range to maintain my milk and to lose?

Anyone pregnant?
Before I get any flack about anything - I am in the obese category and I have been advised to only gain 11-22 pounds during this pregnancy by my dr. I am NOT trying to lose weight, but I AM trying to NOT gain over 20-22 pounds. Having said that, I am having a hard time finding a good calorie range to follow. I am 5'6" tall…

Dense nutrition shakes?
I recently tried Shakeology and while I love the flavor and the benefits they claim to have, I do not like paying $150 a month to have it. Are there any other alternatives for a shake with equal benefits?

Getting 10,000 steps??
I am trying to start getting 10,000 steps a day. I admit it is sooo hard to work out. I sit in front of a computer 35+ hours a week and my evenings are slot of times running my kids to and from activities (depending on the season). I AM joining the gym this Thursday and the kids get to work out too - so hopefully this we…

Low carb friends needed!
i need accountability! I do mostly ok - but then like yesterday, I go to starbucks and get a macchiato and split a salted caramel tart with my hubby. My yesterday would have been perfect eating if not for that.

Low carb?
Carbs screw me up...so I do better when I cut way back on them. Anyone else?

Shakeology?
I am looking for a meal replacement shake - because my mornings are hectic and I often stop and get a biscuit from Chickfila. I need something that I can grab and go and eat/drink on the run in the am while dropping my three kids off at two different schools (this August, I will be dropping them off at three schools)…

Coffee Lovers....
How do you make your coffee part of your plan? I personally use 2 tbsp of the flavored creamers (yes, I know they aren't great for you...but baby steps!!). Then I add a bit of fat free milk. No sugar or substitute for me :) So one cup of coffee is about 80 cals for me and I work that in my plan daily (today I am working on…

GA folks ~ anyone familiar with the Kennesaw area?
My husband and I are *thinking* about moving to that area in the next 2 years (towards the end of the 2 year period...wanting to put our home on the market next Spring). It will put him a lot closer to his work and it looks like an excellent place :) I don't really want to be in a neighborhood UNLESS it has fairly good…

Polar Ft4...how accurate?
I have the aforementioned hrm and I use the chest strap. Recently I have been riding bikes with my hubby (not racing, but A LOT of hills in my neighborhood). We generally ride for an hour or hour 10-20 mins. Last night, it told me that I burned 808 cals. I wanna believe it is accurate, but geez, that is a lot of cals. My…

I am running low on ideas on what to serve my family! Any ideas would be great!! What I wouldn't give to be able to make a healthy pizza in the oven!! ugh! LOL.…

Cardio vs. weight lifting pics
My daughter does not believe me when I tell her that in order to tone up, she needs to add weight lifting to her regimen. Anyone wanna share before/after pics to show her that weights are a good sculpting tool?

Vacation recipe ideas
We are going to the beach for a week in July. We do eat out some, but with it being expensive to eat out with five people, I try to cook as much as I can :) Do you have any healthy, quick and easy recipes that would satisfy both adults and children? My youngest son has a peanut and tree nut allergies, so nothing with nuts…

bad advice from dr. regarding my young teen daughter
My 13 daughter went in for her sports physical and well check up today and saw a nurse practitioner. She is 4'11" and 108 pounds (down from 115 five months ago). She has been watching what she eats and working out and I have been encouraging her NOT to go below 1200 cals. My daughter is a pretty picky eater. She doesn't…

Weight Lifting Beginner
I would like to incorporate weights into my routine but I have to admit that I have never been into weights. I would like to see a extra boost in my weight loss. I have been reading that it would really help me to incorporate this. I just am so overwhelmed. I have no idea where to start? What is too much, too little? How…

Vitamins and nausea?
Does anyone else have to take vitamins WITH food? I get so nauseas if I don't. I had a peanut butter sandwich for breakfast at 8 this morning and forgot to take my vitamins until about 1030. I thought I would be ok since I had already eaten. Nope...I really thought I was about to puke. I had to choke down a few crackers.…

Have an injured foot ~ what other exercises can I do?
So...my foot is officially hurt. I can't put any weight at all on it. I have an appointment to see the orthopedic today at 2 pm. I still want to persevere and not give up going to the gym, but obviously I won't be doing any elliptical or treadmill or Kick class (booooooo...I really LOVE kickboxing!!). I am pretty sure I…

I am about to give up
On exercise. Or I should say I FEEL like giving up sometimes. It seems like everytime I turn my head, I get hurt from working out. December 2008, I twisted my ankle (Grade 2 ATFL ~ surgery) and went down and dislocated my shoulder (2 tears in my labrum, ligament tightening and anchored to bone surgery to fix). It took me a…

Sweet treats?
If you have a sweet tooth, what do you generally nosh on? I will always try to grab a piece of fruit first. But sometimes, I just really want something carby. I love Quakers chocolate chip oatmeal (1 pack does me well and gets rid of my cravings). Yogurts w/ fruit, granola w/ dried fruit. I just picked up some muffin tops…
