Insulin Resistant?

Hi all! I have really been struggling to lose weight this past year. I have been doing most of the "right" things. Low carb, cal counting, adjusting cals, blah blah...
I do have some health things though. I had my thyroid removed in 2.5 years ago and that plays such a big role in our health in different areas. My dr had me on Prozac and while I didn't gain on that like most people, it really didn't help my weight loss.
At my wits end, I was just chatting with my endocrinologist at my last appt and she was running blood work anyhoo because of my thyroid levels and having to adjust that meds and she said she would check me for insulin resistance.
My number was 25 and anything over 12, she said, was insulin resistant. So she did go ahead and put me on metformin. She also told me to add to my cal counting/low carb diet Intermittent fasting to give my pancreas a bit of a break.
Guess what!?!
I am starting to lose weight
Anyone else struggled til getting on this meds? I hope to come off as I lose weight and hoping the Insulin Resistance goes away. Anyone able to come off the meds after a while?
