Does anyone else have to take vitamins WITH food? I get so nauseas if I don't. I had a peanut butter sandwich for breakfast at 8 this morning and forgot to take my vitamins until about 1030. I thought I would be ok since I had already eaten. Nope...I really thought I was about to puke. I had to choke down a few crackers. Felt better almost immedietely!!
Is that weird?

Yes. Also, if you read the labels, many advise to take with food anyway. According to my doctor, taking them with food will also aid in absorption.0

I have to take them with food and sometimes still get sick to my stomach. I've had to try different brands and finally found some that work for me. Prenatals are the worst... seems that I can't avoid the nausea with those.0

Yeah, I generally do take them with something to eat. But I really thought I would be ok since I ate 2.5 hours before...plus I had several cups of coffee. LOL. Guess I will make sure to eat something WITH them next time. Ugh. I hate nausea. Anything but that!!0

I only had nausea with my pregnancies when I took the vitamins. My dr. switched me to a rx one and advised me to take it with food before bedtime and that seemed to knock it out!!0 -
Just depends on the solubility of the vitamins.0

The only vitamins that don't seem to make me nauseous are the gummy ones, so I just take those. I take them as a "just in case" rather than because I think I'm lacking something specific.0

My doctor told me to always take them with food He also told me to try to cut them in half, and have half in the morning and the other half in the evening. That way it is easier for your body to absorb all of the nutrients.0

I take the gummy ones too--one time, i took a mulitvite pill in the am and was late getting my brekkie together at work, and i actually threw up from it. the gummies dont have that problem, i could skip breakfast (not recommended!) and not get sick.0

Yep. Have to eat with them also need a full glass of water too. I just jumped on the vitamin band wagon after getting some test results back and reading up on vitamin deficencies.. So here's hoping it helps! I hate having to take them! lol0

I take them when I go to bed and sleep through the icky feeling.0

Vitamins make me sick regardless of whether I have food with them or not. I think, for me anyway, part of it is that my body doesn't want 1500% of my daily value of vitamins in one shot... I wanted to take vitamins though because I keep getting sick (colds) and thought maybe I needed a boost somewhere. Anyway, I started taking children's vitamins instead, to reduce the amounts, and it's actually not so bad anymore.0

nooo...not weird! Certain vitamins make me nauseous too. I typically try to "cushion" incoming vitamins with a Muscle Milk Light - 100 calories!0

I have to take a multi with food or I get terrible stomach pains and feel sick. My husband is the same way.
I only take vitamins at the end of the day if I am short on vitamins or minerals so I always make sure I have calories for a snack to take vitamins with.0 -
Zinc in particular is one that I've found I have to eat when taking it, or else I'll feel sh!tty for about half an hour. But I only take that when I feel a cold coming on. For my 'regular' vitamins, we get the gummies, so those never make me feel sick :P0

I get so nausious sometimes even with food. I switched to the Women's Gummy Multi-Vitimans last year and havent had any problem. I know there are mixed reviews but I like them and they are better than nothing0

You should always take vitamins with a meal to aid in the absorption of fat soluble vitamins.0

my multi does the same thing, I always took them in the AM, had no idea why I was getting sick feeling in the mornings-actually bought a pregnancy test before someone told me it was the vitamins!! LOL0

I had to start taking mine late in the day once my body has several hours of food intake. No more nauseau!0 -
Vitamins are meant to be taken WITH food.0

The adult, pill kind makes my stomach queasy. Same with my iron, or calcium. I've tried different brands, but it just doesn't work for me. I now take gummy multi vites and gummy calcium, and can take them any time of day without issues.0

I think it depends on the brand. The womens one a day multi made me very nauseous.0

I used to get sick with vitamins because of the iron. I switched to "slow release" iron pills and was no longer nauseated.0

When I was younger I thought I would take a vitamin without eating. The first time I did it I immediately got in the shower right after ingesting the pill. I felt so sick that I thought I was going to pass out. Never again will I take a vitamin without eating. It's no big deal if I skip one here and there because I don't ever want to feel nauseated like that ever again.0

It use to happen to me, turned out I had Celiac disease. Now I am take them, no issue. But they have to be gluten free.0

You lucky that you atleast can take them with food, I cant take any vitamin at all except vitamin gummys! I beleive I am allergic to the shell or preservative in it.0
-
yes I have always gotten sick when I take them. I was unable to take any of them during pregnancy. I now take them at night before bedtime. It doesn't seem to bother me as much.0
