Carbs screw me up...so I do better when I cut way back on them. Anyone else?

  • Yes. I've been slowly implementing a low-carb way of eating over the last six months or so, learning new recipes and tweaking my own. I've recently joined MFP to better keep track of my carbs/protein/fat ratios. It's working well for me, and I'm feeling good. :)

:D That's awesome! I just don't miss the carbs with substitutions. I did have sushi last night...but I feel like that was a healthy choice...so I was cool with it.

Yep. My fibro and RA seems to get much worse, and I have far more frequent migraines while on high carb. I also find it much easier to get my iron in while low carb & am less often in that wonderful anemic state. My 'trigger foods' are also all very high carb/refined sugar types of foods like pastries, so I have really minimal amounts of relapses on low carb.

Have fibro sorry to hear about your issues CloudyMao. Yeah refined sugar and/or simple carbs are no good on the body. They metabolize differently than complex carbs. I always advise staying away from them.

My endocrinologist actually recommended it to me. I am prediabetic and she said it was a very good plan to follow. <3

So sorry about your health issues. It is good that you know your triggers so you can avoid them.
